So I'm reupholstering my couch with painter's drop cloth that I dyed with RIT dye. I was hoping to get a Navy shade, but now the fabric just looks like denim:/ I went ahead and started reupholstering the couch with it anyways. Our couch has been demolished over the years by dogs and kids, so anything will look better than what we've got going on right now. And the color isn't terrible, just not exactly what I wanted. The other day a saw a pin about painting fabric with some sort of chalk paint mixture. I didn't know if any of you ladies had tried this technique, and if so, what your experience was with it. I'd love to paint the couch the exact color I have in mind, but not at the expense of having a scratchy feeling couch

I tried dying any Ikea couch cover (originally tan) a dark blue and ended up with the denim colorš¤£ i hated it. I ended up re-dying it eventually, but a dark grey and it came out nice. I've never heard of painting it though. I'd imagine it would be stiff?

I painted the fabric on a chair a few years ago. I used regular acrylic paint and mixed in this fabric paint medium to the paint. I don't have a before photo of the chair, but the fabric color was a light cream. I did this about 4 years ago, and the color has faded a bit since it sits in the sun on our porch. Eta to add pic of finished product

Thanks ladies! I think I'll test it on a hidden part of the couch first, and see how it feels to the touch. I love the color of that chair rainbowsockmonkey
