I cannot believe she is here! I have a had a cold and was nervous about how I would breathe through contractions and was hoping she would wait until I felt a bit better. Well after getting a hot shower Thursday night, my stuffiness was better and I started to get cramping. I had that on and off all night so in the morning I recorded an hour to let the midwife know and they were only 30 secs and every 3 to 5 minutes. I figured I would call my midwife to let her know bc with dd2 it was short an inconsistent for hours and then when my water broke I gave birth in an hour. Well, anyway she let me know that she will come when they are 45 secs or so for 30 minutes. By noon they were so I called and she came by and she checked me and I was only a 3 but she will check back in 2 hours. I decided to go on my exercise ball trying to get the baby low and kept repeating to myself "my body opens, my baby descends" and then I rested for a bit. They started to become longer and stronger and when she came back 2 hours later at 3:20pm, I was a 5, wahoo!, but baby was still high. My midwife suggested I should labour on the ball again but leaning forward on the bed and then things became more intense. I was able to breathe through them(only by mouth as my nose restuffed itself haha) but then I had to go to pee and when I went to sit on the toilet I had 2 of the WORST contractions I have ever felt. My midwife later told me the sitting is what made her drop and then I was in transition. I was on all fours on the bed for a bit but then I needed to get in the water because the intensity was too much. I got in the water around 410ish she said, it felt lovely but then I had back to back contractions and I could only do like raspberry/ horse lips type breathing. My water broke after 2 strong contractions at around 4:18pm. I felt her head drop down immediately, such a weird feeling, and then a few more contractions and 8 minutes later she was out! Thank goodness! It was all so calm and then that hour everything went by so quickly. She has been awesome. I would have liked a little sleep the first night but she made up for it last night. She is a positive blood type so I do have to leave the house to go get the rhogam shot today and her newborn blood tests, but other than that we have just been cozy and getting to know each other. My girls were with my sister watching a show and came up to check on me just as her head popped out so we all got to see her for the first time together. It was awesome! We had a short list of names but during my labour at night I had a dream about her name, so this is our little Ram.ona. She was 8 lbs 7 and 21.5 in. These are today. The cloud outfit my girls bought for her. Hope it works PDQ *poof*
