We took Tanner (boy dog) to the vet for dental cleaning. They found a cracked molar so he’ll be on soft food for 10 days!
L started saying “bump” and “hill” today!

H had another bad day at play group. I don't know what to think. Yesterday they said he was perfect and I actually walked in to witness another kid hitting him and he was just yelling "no" and not even hitting back, but then today he was apparently hitting and kicking and spitting "for no reason". Like wtf? He can be a handfull for sure, and throws an epic tantrum for sure.... but any time he ever hits at home I can see it coming a mile away because it's only when he gets super worked up... so I don't know what to think. I'm not seeing what they are seeing, so how do I fix it.

Background info: O had laparoscopic surgery at 5 mo old to fix an inguinal hernia. His intestine had slipped through a hole into his ball. After the surgery, I’ve noticed his right ball still tends to swell up and then go down (hydrocele).
O had his follow up urology appt this morning. The Dr said there is still a communicating hydrocele on his right side. She said it’s small though like a pin hole. So there is a chance it could not change and a chance it could open up again. Only way to fix it is another surgery. Then she told me going under anesthesia multi times before the age of 4 can cause developmental delays. So that made the decision for me. It’s not bothering him currently other than aesthetics so we are going to wait and reevaluate after 5.
And I just want to add being a parent is so hard bc you can only make the best choice w the info you have available at the time. We were told a laparoscopic repair vs a standard repair only had a 0.5% more chance of failing. So we opted for laparoscopic - less invasive, less recovery time, no scars. But now we are facing a 2nd surgery at some point bc it did fail. If I would have chosen standard in the first place it would most likely be fine.
TL;DR - O is going to need a 2nd inguinal hernia repair surgery at some point but we are choosing to wait for now.

danib Do thy typically give you a run down of what transpired when this happens? Or is it like they don’t catch the whole thing? Have they said he can’t go back? cookswithwine I’m sorry for that news. You absolutely are the best decision you could with the information you had and with .5% variance I most certainly would have done the laparoscopic. And you don’t know, even wth standard you could’ve ended up in this same place.

We got home late last night. It was really hard seeing my dad like that, especially since my mother is such a bitch to him.
Just doing laundry today and then we’re headed to my in laws for dinner. They wanted to see my sister and the kids. So sweet.

kleigh last week they sait it was mostly around sharing. Today apparently was "for no reason at all". They haven't said he cant go back, but did casually mention that they've had to do that in the past with other kids who were constantly hitting, so I guess it's on the radar.

B had the dentist this morning and did amazing. While I was there, I schedule an appt for J for May since I've been meaning to call and set that up.
All afternoon I've been busy transferring my pictures and videos from my iPhone to my Shutterfly account. My last iPhone cracked and the screen is completely messed up and I can't even log into my phone so I have no idea how to access those pictures and videos and I have a ton on there from when B was little and from before he was even born. I guess I will have to bring it to Verizon.

danib, I’m sorry! I know that’s hard especially when it’s not as easy to fix at home because it’s not done. Chances are with so many kids, they aren’t seeing the build up and therefore can’t cut it off at the pass like you can when you’re home with him. cookswithwine, I would have taken the less invasive route too! I second that parenting is seriously hard and at this age, they can’t verbalize what they are feeling and if something is bothering them. I think you’re doing great!

I'm just full of bad news today. Spoke to my doctor about C and his weird lingering sickness. She said shed like him to have a chest x-ray as a precaution. We were all set to do that tomorrow morning and he just got so much worse this evening. So I decided I didn't want to wait until tomorrow and took him to emerg. They were on the fence but since our doctor already had the req written for the x-ray they decided to go ahead and do it. Well good thing, because he has pneumonia!

Ugh danib, I’m sorry! Bright side: could this be why he’s acting poorly at school?

Oh man danib. I'm glad you got him in yesterday. What's the treatment for pneumonia? cookswithwine it's definitely so hard to know what the right choice is but I probably would have done the same. Quicker surgery and easier recovery at this age is a big deal. tgrimes I'm sorry about your dad and sorry your mom is acting like that. She sucks.

A week of antibiotics, fluids, rest, and tylenol as needed. We go back in 2 days if we don't see improvement by then.
