How old is LO? 7 weeks
How's everything going? Good!
Questions/concerns/cute stories to share?
I think DS is starting to recognize me. When MH was holding him in church, he switched up his position when he was starting to fuss a bit to face me, and he immediately gave me this big smile.

1-3mo: Nursing in public: questions, experiences, anecdotes?
I haven't had to do it much luckily. I have a scarf cover thing, and I've sometimes struggled with getting the scarf and DS positioned, especially when he's squirmy.
If you're pumping, how is that going? When are you returning to work, or are you SAH? Read the Spectra instructions today. I think I'll try pumping the opposite side on Saturday morning when DH is here to help me.
GTKY: if you could give your partner or best friend a superpower for one week, what would it be? Hmmmm...well, my BFF is a bit of a hypochondriac, which causes major anxiety for her. I think I would give her healing power a la Wolverine.

How old is LO? 5 weeks
How's everything going? Everything seems to be going well. DS1 was FF'd so it's hard to break out of that mindset of "how many ounces did he get" and trust DS2's cues.
Questions/concerns/cute stories to share? He unlatches a lot and roots around and it's so frustrating! Could that be from an overactive letdown? I don't feel it so I have no idea when it starts flowing.
1-3mo: Nursing in public: questions, experiences, anecdotes? I haven't done it yet and I'm so nervous to! I'm heavy chested so it feels like I already need 100 hands just at home!
If you're pumping, how is that going? When are you returning to work, or are you SAH? I try to pump once in the morning and at night. I work super incredibly part time from home so I'd like to have a supply in case my mom watches the boys so I can get some work done.
GTKY: if you could give your partner or best friend a superpower for one week, what would it be? The ability to teleport so he wouldn't have to leave so early or get home so late! Basically something to benefit me lol

gimmesugar lupincat my preferred way to nurse in public was the two shirt method: a regular shirt over a tank or nursing camisole. Pull top shirt up and tank down enough to expose breast. DS hated the nursing cover and I think I flashed more people trying to wrangle it in place than when I didn't use it at all. If he popped off unexpectedly I could use my free hand to cover my nipple or tug my shirt down, not grapple the cover. I also liked shirts I could pull my breast out the top. I'd lay a burp rag over the top of my breast & then pull it out and latch. Then if LO popped off, I could just toss the end of the burp rag over my breast - especially good in the OALD early days. Diaper bag as nursing pillow to prop my arm up sometimes, especially in football hold. Crossing my legs to better support LO helped too. When I was nervous in the beginning, I just kept my eyes on DS so I wouldn't worry about anyone else. Another strategy once baby is well latched is to focus on something away from you, the theory being that people who look at you will follow your gaze.

Does he do it throughout the session or more at the beginning or more after he's nursed a while? Re: NIP and needing so many hands, you can try tucking a folded burp rag under your breast to help prop it up.

lily Yes, it definitely seems to be mostly at the beginning of a nursing session and there will be (9/10 times) be milk leaking.

How old is LO? 4.5 weeks How's everything going? Things are going ok. We are still supplementing with formula and pumping. I know we've made some progress with my supply but it feels slow. It's also been 2 weeks since he had his lip and tongue tie procedure and while we are seeing some improvement it doesn't appear to be the magic cure we'd hoped for. My nipples have been really sore again recently so that's been discouraging as well. Questions/concerns/cute stories to share? How long do your LOs nurse per feed? The LC had me on a feeding routine of 10 minutes on each side, then supplementing with a bottle, then pumping for 10 minutes. I've been wondering and trying to nurse him for a bit longer, closer to 15 minutes each side, and waiting until the sucking peters out, and sometimes he seems content afterwards and sometimes he is still hungry for a bottle. 1-3mo:Nursing in public: questions, experiences, anecdotes? I've nursed in front of large groups of family members but not in public yet. I'm working on my technique (I like the two-shirt method!) to get more comfortable doing it in public but really my biggest problem is that he still needs a bottle afterwards so it feels kind of pointless. If you're pumping, how is that going? When are you returning to work, or are you SAH? Seeing more output which is good. GTKY: if you could give your partner or best friend a superpower for one week, what would it be? We've been doing so much driving this past week and my husband has been doing all of it so I would love to give him the superpower of teleportation.

How old is LO? Will be 5 weeks tomorrow How's everything going? Good. Still struggles with my OALD so she spits up occasionally or gets pissy when I express into a towel during letdown. Questions/concerns/cute stories to share? I am just loving her smiles. They are becoming more frequent 0-1mo: What positions/props are working for you? What are you struggling with? We pretty much only do cradle, cross cradle and side lying. I'll do football if I get a clogged duct. 1-3mo: Nursing in public: questions, experiences, anecdotes? It's going well. I use a scarf cover, but I think I've only NIP'd a couple times so far. When I'm just around women like in our church nursing room I don't use a cover. If you're pumping, how is that going? When are you returning to work, or are you SAH? I started pumping about a week ago since I've started running again and she doesn't always empty my boobs enough for it to be comfortable. GTKY: if you could give your partner or best friend a superpower for one week, what would it be? To feel no pain emotionally or physically. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

How old is LO? 8 weeks on Thursday How's everything going? Going okay. Still have a few nights when he's up every 45 mins. Thank you growth spurt and leap. Questions/concerns/cute stories to share:
1-3mo: Nursing in public: questions, experiences, anecdotes? I've learned not to care what people think/see. My #1 care is feeding my kid. Sil has commented on how laid back I am on Bfing in front of peeps. Meh, look at away if you don't wanna see my nipples. If you're pumping, how is that going? When are you returning to work, or are you SAH? Pumping for older kids and it's going well. GTKY: if you could give your partner or best friend a superpower for one week, what would it be? I was gonna say mind reading, but that might end up bad for me. Lol. Is not needing sleep a superpower? Then I could catch up in my sleep.

Can I join in here? How old is LO? 5w
How's everything going? Pretty well actually!
Questions/concerns/cute stories to share? I had low supply with #1 so I am super pumped that DD is nursing well and gaining weight!! Yay!!
Anyone have tips about nursing in a ring sling or woven? Do you take them out or loosen and hold them in cradle, or do I need to teach her to eat sitting up?
0-1mo: What positions/props are working for you? What are you struggling with?
1-3mo: Nursing in public: questions, experiences, anecdotes? Nursed while walking around Home Depot flower section. Hilarious but successful.
If you're pumping, how is that going? When are you returning to work, or are you SAH? I pumped some the first week to tank her up so we could leave the nicu. Then I stopped bc I didn't want to create oversupply. Just started pumping 1 boob 1x/day again - got 2 oz which was great I think, but I have trouble finding time/being consistent with it. I will go back to work in about 6 weeks so I have time but :-P
GTKY: if you could give your partner or best friend a superpower for one week, what would it be? Teleportation bc we waste so much time on travel living in a city.

piratecat you can always call your LC and ask about nursing until LO stops and then supplementing if need be, but I as a non medical professional think it sounds like a good plan. Very new babies and/or preemies not yet to due date sometimes have recommendations like X many minutes then supplement because there is a worry baby will burn more calories than consumed. irish14 either cradle or upright will work. With cradle you'll need to readjust baby upright again once she's done nursing. You may find nursing upright you'll need to hold your boob or prop it up with a burp rag. Personally I started nursing upright in a woven wrap around 6 weeks, front wrap cross carry (FWCC) or front wrap cross carry tied at shoulder (FWCC TAS.) I never figured out cradle, though I hear it's easier in a ring sling.

How's everything going?
It's been a stressful week nursing wise since an appointment with a LC last Sunday. She definitely thinks I am having supply issues and the thought that DD has been hungry and I just soothed her other ways totally kills me. So now I'm second guessing everything and trying to look for hunger cues but she basically seems hungry all the time when she's awake.
Questions/concerns/cute stories to share?
I'm super struggling with if/when to supplement with formula and whether it's even necessary. I'm pumping as much as I can but only get about a little over an ounce a day so not much. I don't even know what's a normal amount to get when pumping right after nursing.
0-1mo: What positions/props are working for you? What are you struggling with?
I really wish I could master side lying but the way K nurses I switch breasts way too often for it to work for a full feeding.
1-3mo: Nursing in public: questions, experiences, anecdotes?
I have done it a few times now but I'm really bad at being discreet. I legit bring my brest friend pillow everywhere and am not skilled at keeping my nipple hidden lol.
If you're pumping, how is that going? When are you returning to work, or are you SAH?
What do people do during pumping to try and maximize output?
GTKY: if you could give your partner or best friend a superpower for one week, what would it be?
Maybe to cure cancer so she could make her dad all better.
