Also, I was always under the impression that I had to pat out of pocket for any service that wasn't preventive because that's what I was told, but under the PPO plan I rarely paid the entire bill out of pocket. Premera usually covered a good chunk, if not all.

I also no longer pay for my thyroid meds. They're cheap $8-10 for a 30 day supply, but i guess they're fully covered under the HD plan.

So, my co-worker and I usually walk together for our morning break and our lunch break. She IMd me just before lunch saying she wouldn't be able to make it. I figured she had a meeting or something, truly no big deal. But then I'm on my walk and I see her sitting on a curb talking to some dude next to his Comcast van! Rude. The 13 year old in me is very offended. I'm actually not mad at all and she isn't required to tell me why she couldn't/didn't want to walk. I just thought it was fun that my first reaction when I saw her was "gasp! She ditched me for a BOY?!" Was he at least cute?

He was some balding 40 year old with bad facial hair.

That’s shitty jubilantsquirrel . You could actually probably fight it based on the misleading presentation/description... and hey would consider putting you back on the other plan. However, it would likely be retroactive to the first day of your plan year (January 1) and they’d want to charge you the back due difference in premium, so likely no worth it. I’m tying to imagine why both plans would’ve stated it that way so let us know what they say.

Some HSA plans carve out preventive medicine and do pay it at 100%.. which is smart bc don’t we want to prevent a bigger issue lol... yet most HSA plans around here do not do it.

jubilantsquirrel You can also try asking the speech pathologist abou self-pay (cash pay).. this would be the rate as if you didn’t have insurance. Some places (think ER) charge less based on sliding scale income etc. Yet you could still use HSA dollars for those bills. They just wouldn’t accumulate toward your plan deductible and OOP.

But the services that are covered say "copay only" or something like that. The speech section (outpatient rehab, occupational therapy, physical therapy, speech) said what I posted above about the deductible. They do cover is evaluations though. Which is also confusing.

No! That's the worst part! He was some balding 40 year old with bad facial hair. I was looking for a funny cringe gif and stumbled upon a gif of a woman sticking her pinkies UNDERNEATH HER CLOSED EYELIDS AND RUBBING THEM AROUND. NOW I WISH I WAS DEAD.

Insurance is also definitely regional to a degree and I’ve never touched a plan in your area so who knows how they are operating this.. it’s weird that certain services they are covering 100% and others are being subjec to deductible.

And I think Premera is based out the Seattle area, too, so IDK if it's a company you would ever work with. I'm not smart enough for this shit.

So I just got off the phone with our benefits people and good god they are useless. But anyway, I have to meet the $3000 deductible before the coinsurance takes place which means we'll be pulling Jonah from speech.

I’m so sorry I'm just really mad at myself for not doing my homework before I changed plans. Lesson learned, that's for sure.
