Good morning! I had a pretty busy St. Patrick's Day. When N and MH went snowboarding on Saturday they went with my MIL, FIL, SIL, BIL, our niece and our nephew. But the way things were scheduled they weren't sure they would get a chance to see me and E. On Sunday, they ended up all out our place and we ordered out for lunch. It was great to see my SIL, BIL, and the kids because we don't see them that often. They are 2.5 hours away. After they left, I prepared the stereotypical corned beef and cabbage. Our family friend and both N and E's godmother came for dinner. She's actually from Cork, Ireland and we always have her over for St. Patrick's Day dinner. And we all laugh because the Irish actually don't eat corned beef and cabbage on St. Patrick's Day.

Hallelujah March Break is over! DS is at school today and I’m home with the girls. I work tomorrow and Wednesday so today it’s just laundry, vacuuming and cleaning the bathroom if I get to it. DH is working late tonight. DD2 has a rough night so I’ve put her down for a nap already, we’ll see if she actually sleeps.

Dh is traveling for work Tuesday to Thursday this week. I'm a little jealous lol. He's going to NYC. I just want a bagel.

Good morning! Busy and productive weekend, hoping to carry some of that productivity through to this week. Gotta get everything together for the Bro Shower my brother's friends are throwing for him next weekend.

Hi everyone, it's 1:34 pm and I'm still having trouble believing it's Monday already. The weekend felt way too short! We got some nice spring weather so tried to spend some time outside. Jojo is pretty obsessed with wandering around the yard and climbing the stairs to our deck (only like 3 or 4 stairs) and she'll wake up in the morning and go for her coat and shoes right away. I bought her a little 4 wheeled bike thing because it was on sale for $40 from $100 at the grocery store (so random). I want to get her a balance bike, but I think she is a bit young for one yet, maybe by the end of summer. I also bought her a jean jacket at old navy because adorable. We didn't go anything for St Patrick's Day, we had two kids parties to go to yesterday, so that was enough.

I took the boys swimming at a hotel with my cousin and her kids during the day yesterday. It was great fun but we got home late and the boys were monsters last night and this morning. I guess doing big things on school/work days are not a viable option.
I did learn that N knows how to go up and down stairs. I did not teach him and there are not stairs at school to learn on. I have NO idea how he learned. He is really good too, like super cautious going down. Kid doesn't talk but can do basically everything else. Ok then, I guess. Now if he could just sleep through the fucking night like a normal human being we would be doing great.

Hi all! Our St. Patrick's party on Saturday was a success (and also a ton of work but worth it lol). N did really well at his 15mo appointment yesterday, 23.3lbs and 30.5". Shots made him cranky though. And weirdly he took a super long nap at like 10:30 this morning, then refused everything at lunch except milk. Toddlers, man. I hope he's not getting sick again. We just got over the whole pneumonia debacle.
Had my midyear and apparently I'm doing a great job. No word on my position evaluation other than it's being "actively worked on", which is all my boss can say. So more waiting. Sigh.

blabbermouth we are big fans of the balance bike. Ds1 has a strider and then was riding a real bike without training wheels at a young 4 (last summer).

Hello! We are having the best time in Florida. C ended up doing really well on the 3 hour plane ride. He only slept for an hour, but was then happily occupied by books, little baby bums, and looking out the window. It’s been kind of rainy and cold, but the 60 degrees here still feels so much better than the weather at home in Wisconsin. Plus we rented a dank house with a heated pool and a hot tub. We went to the Everglades yesterday and a science museum today. It’s supposed to get warmer and sunnier tomorrow so we’ll head to the beach and both boys will get to experience their first dip in the ocean!

Need to read through and catch up. MIL bought H a tablet. The TV is on all day when he's there and now he'll have access to a tablet too. When I said something about him being to young and the screen time she asked how is it different from the phone. I said it's not really. I don't think she understood that as he shouldn't be on either. Do I send some articles about screen time.or just tell her I don't want him having access to this much technology at this age? I don't trust that she will limit it.

I think that can be the drawback to family as childcare, unfortunately. I’d tell her to limit the screen time and maybe even make up a schedule for when he can watch a show or two, but I don’t know if there’s a way to make sure she sticks to it.

Like her MIL was all about juice so my sister posted an article about how young kids shouldn't have that and commented like "see jules1614 we're not crazy for only giving our kids milk/water" (ps- I'm talking really young kids, my 4 year old gets juice.)

My H came home from a fishing trip and isn't feeling well so I sent him to urgent care to get swabbed for the flu. We have DS2's ear tubes tomorrow so I'm pretty sure I'll be going solo to that, but on the off chance he's feeling better I wanted to be 100% sure he's not bringing the flu in to the children's hospital. My mom is staying over tonight to take ds1 to daycare in the morning. I'm excited to have a day off of work tomorrow- hopefully ds2 isn't too crabby or sick feeling when it's all done.

Even if it’s an older kid, I would tell her you do not want tablet access unsupervised (like maybe i’d Be ok with 15 mins of an age appropriate game on a tablet) and X amount of screen time via tv. I’d be pretty pissed.

He got ahold of my phone and threw it in the toilet. 🤷 I'd be pretty firm in telling she needs to limit it.

Hello. We did a preschool tour at our church today. They only take >2, so if we were to move the kids, it likely wouldn’t be until Dec. I’m not sold though. I thought it was nice, but they don’t include lunch, are a bit more expensive, and just the timeframe of Dec and then 9 mo later DD may be eligible for TK seems like too many jumps. Or we would be doing multi dropoff pickups for 6+ months which sounds impossible and awkward (bringing DD to her old school to pick up DS). I’m not unhappy with our current place really, just liked the idea of a really loving and faithful environment before public school. The tour took 1 hr+, so I had to work later. The day just flew by and dh and I haven’t even had a chance to talk about it.

We didn’t even give DD a tablet (never have a phone) for games until over 2 and even that is really only for travel. I know plenty of parents feel different, but it seems like you have a problem with it too. Is the tablet a kindle that you can put time limits on?? Maybe that mil can’t figure out how to override?! Ha

Like if you only wanted it for after nap, you could make it only active from 3-5.

C doesn’t even pay attention to the tv when it’s on, and doesn’t even try to do anything on the tablet when ds1 is using it. The only exception is little baby bums, which puts him in a trance. But we only let him watch that in very rare situations, like on the plane ride or if he’s screaming in the car. I would just tell her straight up that your pediatrician recommends no screen time before 2, or whatever age you’re comfortable with. That is the recommendation.
