Morning!
I don’t want to clog up the daily with this. Josie is going to start staying for lunch and the afternoon session at school once a week starting in April. I have multiple lunchboxes for her, but need stuff for the interior. So lunch box questions: does anyone have a Bento box they love for their kids? One that will ideally fit in either a Pottery Barn, Lands’ End, L.L. Bean shaped lunchbox? Benefits of plastic versus aluminum? Also, for those of you who send water as a drink, what kind of thermos you use? Does it also fit in the lunchbox? Are mini Poland Spring bottles easier?

oh lunches....I've got 5 years under my belt of this shit....my most hated chore... For a long time, and still every once in a while, I use individual tupperware containers that are packed in an open lunch kit, usually the Skip Hop ones. One container for main food to heat up, one for fruit, then a bag of snacks, or granola bar/fruit bar etc. Then I bought these for sandwich days ziploc Bento box and they've been working quite well; a place for meat/cheese, fruit in another, then a sandwich and some pretzels in the big space. B will be going full time Grade 1 in September and I'm buying this www.omielife.com/ for him. I like it over the Bento ones because it has a thermos option for heated food if you want, if not that space can be used for a sandwich. For water, I use the Contigo ones contigo kids water bottle they stand up really well and I always put 4-5 ice cubes in it, fill it with fresh water right before we leave the house and he says it's still fresh by lunch time most days. It goes on the side of his backpack in the holder, we have a bit of a bigger back pack and the water bottle never falls out.

vino I almost got to the point of tears last night thinking of how many more years I need to pack lunches. Right!? A million years ago, my most favourite things about Fri/Sat nights was that i got to party with my friends and now...it's that I dont have to pack lunches. What a time to be alive...

Thanks, vino—That Omie box looks great! And it’s in the right price range for me. The ones I like best are called planet boxes, but I don’t want to spend the 80 dollars until I see how responsible Josie is with her things. We have plenty of contigos. I find all of them leak in a bit. Same with the camelbaks and the foogos (so it’s probably more of a Guster problem than a product problem.)

We have the bentgo...we started with the full case but it got gross and then switched to just using the inserts with the clear plastic storage tops the sell on Amazon. Much cheaper and easier to clean if you aren't putting liquids in them. We put it in a skip hop lunch at, but prob would easily fit in most of the brands you mentioned. Let me know if you want links or a pic.
Our kids have to bring a water bottle every day to use throughout the day, so we do that. We have the Camelback straw ones but I want to switch to an insulated metal one bc my kids chew the Camelback straws to pieces.

I like the bentgo, too, tallb. She’s only going to go one day a week for lunch so I doubt it’ll get too gross. I don’t even know what I really want to pack her for lunch yet, but I appreciate all of the suggestions.

See have thermos brand Foogo water bottles and they never leak and are easy to clean. We don’t bento box. C eats cold chicken nuggets literally every day. (He’s ridiculous!) and they go in a thermos so they stay cold.

I am hoping C will buy lunch when he starts school We won’t have that option this year, but next year in kindergarten she will. I feel a little underwhelmed with the school menu, but maybe it will look (and taste) better than it sounds.

I feel a little underwhelmed with the school menu, but maybe it will look (and taste) better than it sounds. I’m hoping it will encourage him to try new things if his peers are eating them. Although when they made tacos last time they did a taco Tuesday the picture shows all the kids with their tacos and C with goldfish😐
