Feeling better now. H and I left the girls with everyone else and went off on our own for a couple hours. Bonus--my brother got K to nap and later took C out for ice cream.

No long weekend here. Dh works Monday. He's biking with a friend tomorrow and working at church and I have no plans. I need to grocery shop so I may run out and do that alone in the morning. Sunday dh wants to take the girls to a lake and bike or hike. I'm "meh" about it, but I'm sure it'll be fun. Mostly I'm feeling like laying low bc next week is cah-ray-zee. Glad you got a little fun relaxation time! I've been talking about planning a vacation with my mom for years, but I'm totally afraid she would drive me completely bonkers the whole time. She isn't a complainer, but she has her own special ways to make me feel super stressed and agitated. But having someone to help with the kids is such a perk....! Basically vacations with little kids are the most exhausting and stressful things ever no matter what you do. kcrkcs - I don't know how you do it! Sleep the 4th away, mama. You need to rest! I took the dds to a splash pad this morning, and it was awesome for about 5 minutes. After that dd2 kept running off and I would have to chase her down while she turbo ran the opposite direction, and then went boneless and yelled as I carried her back. Then Dd1 fell while running on concrete with her swimsuit on and scraped the shit out of her knees. Like so bad. I had to play it off like it was no big deal and would be fine but inside I was like OH MY GOD!!! Scary! Gross! Ahhhhhhhhhhhh!!!!! She has refused to walk since then because it hurts her knees too much. I'm guessing she will never want to play at a splash pad again, because that's how she usually rolls. My poor girl. I'm home from my trip! Got in yesterday late afternoon. H and the kids picked me up. I sat in the back next to DD in her carseat and she just stared at me and touched me with 1 finger like, "are you real?" She didn't get excited or anything. Then she grabbed my shirt and said, "Nuk!" About 10 minutes from the house she started crying because she wanted me to hold her. Once I finally got in the house with her and let her nurse she said "hi" and "mama!" so I finally got the excitement, it was just very delayed. Glad to be home but so much to do because we plan to pack up tomorrow and drive up to the cabin and get out of the heat for a few days. I moved my friday off to monday and I plan to WFH from the cabin the rest of the week.

I'm sorry your trip to the splashpad was a bust nellieoleson. That is one of our favorite things to do around here. Although DD is runner as well after the initial excitement wears off. I hope they grow out of this stage soon. And I hope DD1 is feeling better. I hope you get some downtime soon kcrkcs. And yes, sleep the 4th away. You've certainly earned it!! I'm glad you got a short reprieve copperboom. And it sounds like you have a rockstar brother!

copperboom, that sounds miserable. Can you avoid vacations with your mom in the future? It doesn't sound like much of a vacation. Although I think maybe you should include your brother in all your plans Today is the last day in DH's extraordinarily busy 2 weeks, and I am exhausted. Of course, I have a thing to go to tonight - it's a group of people I love and we only meet once a quarter, and the last time I skipped because my mom was visiting. But I really, really want to skip tonight, too, because I am so tired. I've already arranged for someone to pick me up and take me, but I may curl up in a corner and fall asleep.

Dd1 still won't stand up or walk, so now I'm wondering if I should take her to the doctor. I saw her fall - it was just a little trip and she landed on her hands and knees, but since she was In her swimsuit she got banged up pretty good. I'm sure her knee is just super sore, but the refusing to walk thing is starting to really worry me! Should I take her in? WWJ16 do?

nellieoleson if she is sitting on a chair can you move her legs at the joints (knees and ankles) without her being in pain?

Also is there any swelling anywhere around her knees in particular?

I'd probably see if it hurts when you bend her knees and then let her ice and rest them. How is she getting around if she won't walk? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Http://notjustnovels.wordpress.com

She was able to gently bend it while sitting and it is a little swollen but nothing crazy. She wasn't getting around at all. She stayed on the couch for like 7 hours yesterday and would only move if someone carried her - and even then very reluctantly. Today after she woke up she refused to get out of bed and has stayed in there all day. BUT she just now hobbled out because she had to go potty. So I think we are okay. nellieoleson glad she got up! When I was about 4 I scraped my knees very badly and also refused to walk. I also tried to say I would sleep wedged between the couch and the wall so I wouldn't risk bending my knees in my sleep. There's video. It's embarrassing. I was a drama queen. But if it makes you feel any better, I am the opposite of a drama queen now. There's hope (And that's what I keep telling myself with my dd2...) Sent from my SM-J510FN using Tapatalk

We are home. Yesterday was great even with travel. We went back to Rocky Mountains National Park and DD1 did a junior ranger program while K walked around looking at ground squirrels and waving to hikers with their dogs. We thought we had tons of time to kill at the airport but lines were so long that we didn't have to entertain the kids too long. That sounds bad but it worked out great.
We got home at about 10:30 and got the girls in bed. They slept pretty well in spite of the rough transition. I took a shower and unpacked a little. I was feeling pretty great about it all.
Then I woke up at 3:30 because it was hot. The AC has a clog in a line. It shut off and then started again and overflowed the pan. So. No AC, temperature is expected to climb to 95 today, and I have water dripping from my ceiling. H can't get the clog out and the company that installed our new AC 6 months ago (!!!) are not answering or returning calls today. We are paying someone else to come out and fix it.
So.
One day I'll stop bringing negativity here. It's just not going to be today.

She's much better, thanks! It was pretty funny this morning, she had been up for a couple hours and had even been outside to play already when all of a sudden she ran up to me yelling "I'm walking!!! Mommy I can walk! Look!" Haha, yes you can, Buddy. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
