I'm at work trying to play catch up from yesterday. We took the kids to the rodeo last night. They both rode a pony and fed lots of animals. H is still too small to do most of the rides but M had a blast on them. I feel a little guilty that she didn't get to do very much because we didn't even start the carnival rides until 7. Oh well. That's what happens when you go on a weeknight I guess.

H and SIL are trying to plan a surprise birthday party for his dad for next month. Its been.. fun. No idea what the guest list or budget is. We're just kind of contacting places right now to see what the options are.

Thanks guys! I may have cried a little at him turning 5. But he's wearing his custom Paw Patrol birthday shirt and I made birthday rice krispie treats for him to take to school. So it should be a good day for him!

Hi 👋🏻.
At work, I’ve been working on stupid unscheduled projects both yesterday and today and it is getting in the way of my normal work.
Today is my mom’s bday (and it’s her day with the kids). I offered her to take it off but she was all “what am I gonna do anyway”. So I thought about at least coming home early but... I want to sit on my ass a little longer.
I think I am pretty set on the Cape for our family vaca. Of course I didn’t book well enough in advance so now there’s only crap on VRBO and Airbnb for the dates I want. I did find a couple hotels. But I’m terrified of four of us being in a tiny room for 4 days. Like will we just all sit on the bed and stare at each other. I presume we’ll do the beach and/or some other excursions... but... thems close quarters.

H has been getting in trouble at the gym daycare this week for hitting. And he just laughs at you when you discipline him. I'm not sure what to do. I cannot have him end up kicked out. I never had this issue with C so I'm at a loss.

Well we've had a rough 24 hours!
Yesterday, went to work and to drop L off at childwatch. The regular girl (who is also our babysitter) wasn't in there and I only saw one girl. The other person wasn't wearing her Y shirt and just looked like visiting grandma. When I started to explain to new person L's allergies, she seemed overwhelmed. She even said, " you should tell that to ____." Meanwhile there was a kid running around with yogurt and dropping dollops of it on the floor. So I was kind of worried as L is allergic and touching it would cause hives. Nobody seemed to try to stop him or trying to attempt to clean it up. I told the front desk thinking their boss (my former boss) wasn't in that they seemed overwhelmed and to keep an eye out. While getting ready to teach other babies, I started to work myself up thinking they didn't have control and that I should just get L and bring him in the pool with me. I ran into a coworker who was on her way out. She volunteered to check on him because she saw I was worried. Next thing you know Old Boss went in and co-worker then dragged old boss in to check on L. It went from keep an eye on them to a panic. So I had to talk to old boss today and explain (as it was recommended by my current boss and I need to keep her happy) She seemed to get it this morning so that was a phew but still. Our Y is getting a new CEO and everyone is trying to have everything looking organized and professional... it's not!
Last night, my child was a demon! He was fine with me being in the room with him when he went to bed but as soon as I left, he cried for 40 minutes. I went in after 10 for 15 minutes but he only wanted to be held by me which I wasn't going to. So #MOTY right here!!!
Now he's just running in circles while I'm baking his Amy's macaroni and faux cheese with ham. He wasn't supposed to take a nap but he dozed off on the way home. When I decide no nap, he dozes off, when i try to make him lay down for a nap, he won't sleep!?!

I never had this issue with C so I'm at a loss. Does he hit as home? O hits at home as well as daycare so we have a strict 0 tolerance policy on hitting at home. 1st hit and he gets put in timeout (this punishment seems to work the best for him). After, I explain that we do not hit and he has to say I’m sorry to whoever he hit. Basically, I can only try to reinforce at home. I also remind him to be nice to his friends before daycare.

He does hit at home. So we were caught in a place of trying to teach C to be more assertive (and less whiney). So if the two of them are playing in a differet room and C starts yelling to us in that whiney voice "H is hitting" or "H is taking my toy" we were telling C he needs to tell H "No. Don't xyz". And if he tried that and H continued then we would step in and do time out. Obvioualy we're gonna have to step in and be on top if it from the get-go, and try to find other ways to encourage C to be more assertive.

danib Has he been doing it for a while? Or is it relatively new? I agree with zero tolerance on hitting or biting a la cookswithwine (and only bc they need to know it’s not acceptable outside the house). AV went through her phase of biting, then that passed. Then pushing, ad thankfully that’s passed. Prob not related but I do know there can be correlations, how is H’s speech ?

Like he's always been kind of rough and would hit if he was having a tantrum, but now all week he's been hitting other kids and throwing stuff at them, which is much more extreme and frequent than normal. Speech wise, he's a really good talker. Like full sentences/conversations and has been for a little while now, so I don't *think* it's related. BUT it is only recently that he's phasing out of naps (has only had 3 in the past 2 weeks) so if we're looking at developmental changes you could definitely be on to something!!!
