Today is our first Saturday without soccer so we don't have any plans today. C needs a haircut so hopefully we'll do that. We also desperately need to go grocery shopping but I hate doing that on the weekend.
Yesterday we signed a contract for a patio! We had to scale way back from our "dream" patio but I'm happy with what we ended up with. It won't be too bad to add on later if we need to but we just have so much to do outside that we couldn't spend our whole budget on the patio alone. I just want spring to get here already so we can get started on everything.

We are taking O to the zoo for the first time today! I hope he lasts and doesn’t have a melt down after an hour (which is what usually happens...)

I did yoga 🧘🏽♀️ this morning! The instructor was a bit bigger and it was refreshing. I didn’t realize how tense I am going into the class with a skinny instructor (one of the yoga instructors is that mom who didn’t like to follow the rules of childwatch) but if she could be up there than I can do this!
Otherwise, we’re not napping today! L has been waking up at 5am which isn’t normal for him. So I figured we’d skip nap today and go to bed earlier and hopefully we’ll be back to normalcy tomorrow or Monday! Him waking up early is cutting into my workout time and then I’m exhausted when his nap and we both nap.
No other plans for us besides church tomorrow!

I did grocery shopping this morning and then we did a family trip to the library. There was another mom there with 2 kids of similar ages. She was reading with the older one so attentively which gave this younger one time to unload tons of books from shelves. So while MH was reading with the kids, i was putting back the loads of books each of my kids took out. I put back her books too but then realized it might look like I was trying to prove a point rather than be helpful. I tried to say something to brush it off that’s it’s easier with 2 parents present but then said something about the librarians doing it all day long. So That negated any point I was trying to make. And I was too awkward to correct it so I think I just looked like a bitch.
Now tonight I am headed to a pot luck with coworkers to celebrate one of the PTs who became a manager and will be leaving our group. I’m excited for lots of food and drink.

O did really well at the zoo! Normally once you get him out of the stroller he won’t get back in. So we bribed him with seeing more animals to get him back in. He only ran away from us 1x... Swim lessons this morning. Then my parents are coming over for dinner tonight. *poof*

You look adorable cookswithwine and O is so big!! I swear I never stop being shocked at how big these kids get. I'm also jealous that you can go to the zoo. We're slowly getting there but it might be weeks before it's nice enough. C is currently obsessed with farm animals so I want to take him to see animals so bad.

I had such a hard time getting up for work this morning. My plan of putting the boys to bed early last night didn't work and they were both awake way later than normal. So they "slept in" but I didn't (C was still asleep when I left for work and H had only gotten up a few minutes prior).

Hi! We've had a busy weekend. Yesterday my ILs had the kids until about 2 so H and I did a bunch of work at the house and ran errands. We're on out way to Costco now and then maybe a movie with the kids before dinner (it's raining yet again).
I start my women's foundation program this week and I'm so excited!

Stomach flu day 728834792
I’m going to burn this MF house down
Each day M and I are better, but it’s been annoyingly slow. I’ve never had anything like this last longer than a day and my body is pissssssed.

You look amazing cookswithwine We have one that doesn’t like getting back into her stroller once she’s allowed out. Thank goodness bribing is a thing that is starting to work. I’m v v jealous of you being able to wear short sleeves outside.

I'm already exhausted from the day and laying in bed. My nephew had a hockey game at the arena right next to our house so we went to go watch him play. Little kid hockey is hilarious btw. Afterwards H left to go to some indoor golf place with friends and I went to lunch with the ILs. It took longer than I expected and C passed out before we even got home. It's kind of late for a nap but he's already out so I'll give him an hour or so. My mom also texted me that my grandma was making C's favorite dish and she wants us to go over there for dinner. Not sure if I'll go yet but we don't have anything else planned for dinner anyway. I'll see how C is after he wakes up.
Also I bought myself Hamilton tickets for my birthday. They were a little expensive but I'm super excited to go!!

For some reason that I can’t explain H goes and buys me a pound of shrimp every time I’m sick. Why? ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
So...anyone have a good shrimp recipe? I’ll take anything. Normally I just dunk them in cocktail sauce, but there’s no way that’s happening right now.

Shrimp boil with potatoes & corn?

Hi! Sort of busy weekend here. Yesterday was my SIL’s bridal shower. It ended up being really nice and she got drunk and had a great time. I think we are just going to sweep all our issues under the rug. She has bigger issues to worry about (family drama) that is much worse.
Today, B had a friend birthday party. It was really cute but he wa super shy. I could tell he wanted to go and play with all the kids but he was hesistant. He did a lot of observing and watching but mainly stayed by my side. He and I had some good one on one time though.

sophiegrace the shrimp recipe request was timely as I just bought shrimp and was planning on sautéing it up for a salad, but some of those other things listed sound much better. danib, my kids aren’t consistent, but I feel like I won the lottery whenever they ask to be excused and bring their plates to the counter. waitwhat B sounds just like O. The last party we went to was an indoor volleyball place where they played tag and tug o war and he didn’t join at all. On the way home he was all upset because he said he wanted to stay longer because he hadn’t been there before and didn’t know what to expect and now was ready to play (I’m paraphrasing). It made me really sad how shy and anxious new situations are for him. I haven’t come up with a strategy to address it other than giving LOTS of info up front if I have it.

I was trying to encourage him to join the other kids but he kept saying no. but he would watch the kids play and laugh when the did something funny so I could tell he was interested. I also don't know what to do. Like O, B takes a bit to warm up and get comfortable and by the time he was, it was time to leave and I think if we had stayed a little longer he would have enjoyed himself more. LMK if you figure out a strategy. I'm at a loss!

I can’t say it worked at this party waitwhat, but what I sometimes try to do is be social myself with the other moms. I’ll say something like, “oh I don’t know many people here; but I’m going to go say hi to that person, I’ll be over there if you need me”. Like I said, it didn’t exactly work at this party as he didn’t play in the group activities, but he at least wasn’t by my side and was in the sand watching everyone. This didn’t seem to be a problem for O before starting school this year, as he was in the same daycare for 3 years and we hung out with the same people. So now that he has to make his own friends, he doesn’t seem to know how. So I have not had much time to try out various strategies. Let’s try them out together and share successes and failures!

Shrimp boil with potatoes & corn? Thank you! I’ve written all of those down. I actually forgot about this and put my grocery order in before checking back. I found a recipe just now with stuff I have...pineapple, cilantro, rice and the like. Your ideas sound better, but I’ll save them for when there’s a better chance of not puking them all up and never wanting to eat it again. I’ve always wanted to do a shrimp or giant seafood boil. They’re big in this area, but I’ve never done it myself.

I’ve been making 72 versions of caprese + a protein lately because it sounds so good to me, but that picture looks like exactly what I’ve been wanting.
