I'm up. Barely. Hoping my ear clears up.. I slept on a heating pad and most drained by this morning but I cant really hear out of it still. At least the pain is gone. Boys going to school and the sitters today and I have a ton of work to do.

I'm in a mood too, but it's because I have an interview this afternoon, so I'm finding everything about my current position annoying.

Morning. Both kids had (pre-) school this morning so I had a glorious 3 hours for myself, which where utilised catching up on greys anatomy 🙄. I’m a little frustrated because I’ve hit a plateau weight loss wise and this stupid cold is making me crave all the fatty/high calorie foods. I’m resisting the cravings for the most part, but it sucks.

I'm at work. M has a dentist appt this morning so I made MH take her. #1 - I took off work a lot last week for their appts and when M was sick. #2 - I'm still mad at the dentist. I'm petty like that.

I'm on the grouchy bus as well. I have to interview the girl I trained for a promotion on my team. I ended up not applying bc it was clear my boss wants to hire her and I decided it would be worse for her to get it over me if I had applied. I am not trusting myself not to completely unload on my boss when she asks about the interview later today. And then have to tell her I'm KU in the same meeting 🤦.

But I did stop to get coffee and ran into a old friend from work and she's due two days after me, so that was fun. She was the first friend I told about being pregnant with j 6 years ago!

Yes, 2nd interview, meeting with more people on their management team as well as 2 people who would report directly to me.

I still don't know if I would accept the position if it was offered.  I'm so back and forth on it.  I also have no idea how much money to ask for, I kind of want them to tell me what they think the position should pay, then decide if it's enough.  When I applied, I gave my salary requirement as $5k more than I currently make.  But I'd be managing 6 people, although 2 have worked there for 20 years, and one lives in Maine, so really managing 3 recent college grads and managing information from all of them.  So I think the position should pay more than I required, but I just don't know how much.

Plus giving up the flexibility I have at my current position.  I'm pretty torn.

mwhip managing people does not look fun. I'd need more than $5k more to do that.. and I wouldn't under estimate managing older people, they can be grouchy and more resistant to change, as demonstrated by the people on my team. (lol that I'm probably becoming one of them)

I have managed people before, but it's been a few years.  I didn't mind it, but I think it helped that I trained the people I managed, instead this would be them training me on the business.  I also asked the HR manager to send me a list of their benefits and costs, which she hasn't sent yet, as well as their PTO schedule.  I already have 7 days scheduled off this spring, and I don't want to lose them.  

When I applied and told them the salary requirement, I did know I would be managing buyer(s), but not 6.  Going from not managing anyone to a team that size would be a pretty big change for me.  But it would also be better for my long term career.

Lot's of things to think about!  I don't love managing people.  I manage a seasonal staff of 6-10 every year.  It's a headache.  But half of them were co-workers and friends before I got the position.  And I have become close with the others as well.  But I suck at keeping the friends/employees line separate.  Which living in a small town is hard to do.  But it makes it even more difficult when I have to drop the hammer about something or occasionally not hire someone back the next year.  I don't like being the "bad guy". 

I would enjoy a position where I make good money, supervise no one, have flexibility, and don't have to see the boss very often.  Anyone know of anything like that?!

Morning. S's pooping problems yesterday appear to be from her antibiotic for the ear infection and not a stomach bug. So I loaded her up with probiotic and shipped her off to school. Today I am spending my work day getting tax stuff ready for my appointment with the accountant tomorrow. Personal and business. Nothing like waiting till the last minute to gather and organize things. Lol.

This is my current job...I have days that we don't speak to each other, then days that we bullshit more than talk about work.  Like today, I told her the gym I go to is closing their location in the town I live in, so I'd have to find a new gym, meaning I wouldn't go to the one by work.  She offered to let me use her membership card, since she never goes.

I really wasn't looking when this potential position came up, I saw it on an email and it is about 7 minutes from my house, which is the only reason I applied.  My current commute is about 20-25 minutes, so still not bad.  So far, nothing is making me want to jump ship, except the potential for a career boost.

I keep thinking about asking my boss, as a friend, if she knows what kind of bonuses and raises are being discussed, that she can share.  Obviously, she knows, she's our CFO.  But asking her would raise flags and I don't want to raise any flags today, since I'm going to have to make up a story to leave 2 hours early.  Maybe tomorrow...depending on how this afternoon goes.

Good luck with everything mwhip! That is a tough decision. I would love the short commute but in other ways your current job sounds like a unicorn position.

mwhip, Good luck. These decisions are hard. As you all know, I chose flexibility, but for me, in my position, that was the most important. 7 minutes from home is pretty awesome.

I'd see what they come back with re: benefits, etc today, and what kind of feel you get from the other people you meet

My dillhole father's funeral was yesterday. Out of literal morbid curiosity my sister went and said there were very few attendants (mostly family) and of course they spouted some BS about him walking with Jesus and acted like he was great. I was kind of annoyed to hear my cousins went. No one said a word to my sister about his house or anything. No one in the family aside from my cousin's wife has said anything to me. I bet they all said the rosary for him 847,692 times in hopes they can chant his ass into heaven.

I had a rough day yesterday. I went on facebook mid afternoon and saw B's lead teacher (who I LOVE) had a post saying "I just left my job, it's the hardest thing I've ever done" or something like that. I texted her and sure enough, yesterday was her last day. I am devastated. I've had a ton of issues there, lately w/ B and the ever changing rotation of teachers he's had. This teacher used to be S teacher and is awesome. That, coupled with the fact that B's supposed teacher for next year is currently pregnant so I'm not sure what their plans are has me spinning.

So I'm digesting all that when the school sends an email out announcing the change. Guys, the email was AWFUL. Totally badmouthed her (and she was a total professional) and the teacher and assistant they are putting in there are... not great.

I don't know many moms in B's class, but the moms in S class were all on a group chat last night and everyone is livid about how this all went down, and about the new teachers. Literally everyone with younger kids is threatening to leave the school.

My stomach is in knots about all this and I was so sad going into school this morning. I can't even look at the director who sent that email. It made me so angry.

Anyway, thank you all for letting me vent.

So from what she told me, she gave her notice and the administration asked her not to say anything.  She said it was hard but she wanted to respect their wishes (which is why their email pissed me off even more).  She said she said goodbye to all the kids before she left.  She left at 3:00 so I did not get to see her.

I asked S if Ms. A said goodbye to her and he said yes.  But when I explained that wouldn't be back, he got upset b/c he did not understand that.  B is not verbal enough to really get it at all.  And I talked to 1 of the 2 moms I know in that class last night and she said her kids were home yesterday so they didn't even get to say goodbye

That’s upsetting, jewels. It’s really hard on the kids when there is that much turnover. She clearly handled it like an adult but the administration chose to be very unprofessional. Definitely makes you question their judgment.

jewels That sucks...that the teacher left and the schools complete lack of professionalism. Do you have any other options of places to go? I'd have stress/anxiety from all this...finding someone to care for our kids is hard enough, but this shit, it's too much!

jewels ugh the total lack off empathy for the kids (and the teacher for that matter) by the board would male me mad on so many levels. We had a similar situation, being told a teacher left via a very crappy email, but at least she came back (without parents knowing) to say goodbye to the kids. And that teacher sucked, which made it easier. Maybe you can make a card or something to send to her with B?
