Thanks guys. Last night I tried the futon and it mostly worked. I need to move the futon a little closer to his crib bc I almost fell off reaching to keep my hand in the corner of his crib so he could touch it when he wanted. Of course it didn’t help that DH didn’t angle his pen is correctly? And he pissed out of his diaper and his diaper was mostly dry 🙄 so that was a reasonable wake up but still exhausting. I’m SO sick today and have to work back to back shifts this evening and tomorrow morning. I think the cold N had last week he gave to me and I’m miserable. Oh man, I' m so sorry. I hope you feel better soon.

@starzia canines are the worst ever. J has 2 popped thriugh but it took 2 weeks for him to get them. He would scream in the middle of the night, wake up ealry, and chew everything. The amount of saliva in his poop was awful too. I hope they come in quickly

addymac, that’s so tough. Might be time to consult a sleep expert. I know people can pay good money to get their kids to sleep on their own. @starzia, I hope the tubes help! jt2378, A hasn’t been a wild climber yet. Just like into his toys and a couple times I his chairs. I ask him to stop one time and if he doesn’t, I just take it away for a while. Helps some of the time. I’m so jealous of those who have basement or extra room space for a makeshift gymnasium!

J still wakes up 4 or 5 times a week once motn to drink either milk or water. I would like to stop it but the last time we tried i gave in because he sobbed motn forever 3 nights in a row and we were up for hours. If he gets a drink he goes right back to sleep.

We are also sick here. We got it the weekend before last, and then we were fine. And then it hit me and A again hard yesterday. I was running a fever and felt like death. A looked like he had fiths disease. Of course today we are leaving on an 8 hour road trip.
Do you all know or use sensory bins? My good friend has one at her house that A loved to play in. So I asked her to make him one for our house. Today, I brought it out after getting it yesterday from her. Within seconds, A shoves a handful of the beans in his mouth. He’s never done that while playing at my friends. I was able to get them out, but assumed one had slipped through and swallowed. I googled it of course, because I’m concerned about it passing through the digestive track. Well, apparently un or undercooked beans are actually toxic. I had no idea. So I had to call poison control. The woman said he’d be fine, but to watch for vomiting or diarrhea.

Not to worry you, but have you considered taking him to the pedi before leaving? i just know if they get better and then it comes back like that, it sometimes means there is a secondary infection. I have had this happen with D1. I'm actually wondering with M since she essentially seemed to get over a cold and is now coughing again. She has an appt tomorrow for her 18 month so at least they can check then. I'm sorry about him potentially swallowing it. I can't give M anything like this because she looks right at me and pops it in her mouth. She is still frigin biting the tips off crayons, Lol. She scribbles for a second and then bites it.

Why does everything go into the mouth still? Lol he’s played with her bin no less than 5 times and ever once attempted to eat the beans or even the dry pasta she had once. I just never knew beans were toxic if not cooked. He hasn’t had much of a cough and no fever, so I don’t think there’s much for a pedi to say. It’s mostly just a serious runny nose. And he’s cutting almost 6 teeth at the same time right now. I definitely think it was a new infection on my end though.

The teeth could be causing him to feel so shitty too. UGH. I hope you guys are both better soon and can enjoy your trip.

L has been waking up a lot MOTN this week- the combo of being sick and getting canines is terrible. I think bc she’s so congested laying flat is uncomfortable so I’ve been giving in to letting her sleep on me in the rocking chair. But then I don’t sleep well. She had been sleeping all night so hopefully we get back to that real soon.
I’ve thought about switching the crib to the toddler bed so I could just lay down beside her there. But that comes with a whole new set of bedtime shenanigans. So I don’t know. DS got switched at 18 months bc he could easily climb out (he was wayy taller than she is) and I don’t remember that transition fondly.

D1 was 3.5 and it was magical 🤣 Did you try elevating the crib? I thought it wouldn’t matter much since M seems to be all over the place but it actually has helped a little for the coughing.

Ack @easilyunamused, I had no idea they were poisonous uncooked. That would have freaked me right out. Toddler H is the same way. If we let him play with play dough, he tries to sneak away to his brother's room, hide in the corner and eat it. DS1 loves bouncy balls, but I have to regulate them so closely bc toddler H will pop them right in his mouth and suck on them. He knows they are not food and that he shouldn't do that, but he just doesn't care.

pennylane canines are rough. I hope L's sleeping goes back to normal soon. I wouldn't switch to toddler bed at this point. I'm keeping the crib as long as possible!!

Crib for as long as possible here. T climbed out once and I told her she was in big trouble if she did it again - sometimes before her nap she’d wave her finger and say “big trouble.” king26 I’d let him take a sippy cup of water to bed. T started taking her cup of water to bed somewhere around 1.5-2 years. R hasn’t started yet.

I took the day off of work, because R’s 18 month appointment is at 2pm.
Tomorrow T has swim lessons in the morning and the Y at night for Parents Night Out. Then Sunday we go to Canada for my nephews birthday party around dinner time.

But yeah, didn’t think I’d start my morning off with a call to poison control. Lol

I’m all about the crib for as long as possible. A still sleeps in a sleep sack too, so his mobility is limited.
Well, we made it to our destination in decent time yesterday. 8 hour car ride actually went pretty smoothly. Having new toys and books on the second half of the trip was a savior.

MH just left to go snowboarding, so we’re going to lay around and rest up. Hopefully we’ll be much better for tomorrow! I just found out my good friend who lives in Hawaii will be here visiting her boyfriend, and although we haven’t seen each other in 5 years, we text all the time. So I’m so excited to see her!

How do people parent when they’re so sick? Omg. I’m barely surviving today. Have the worst cold and sickness ever and DH has to work and our nanny was busy and couldn’t come today. I’m dyyying. Ugh. Also doesn’t help that again I slept on the floor of Ns room. He just doesn’t want to be alone. Wtf? Anyone ever experience this with any of their other kids???

Im sorry you are so sick and solo parenting. Dh has been sick and had to be with J which sucked and I know he struggled. . As for the being alone...do you think its just a phase? I know j hates when we leave now and bawls his eyes out but he is ok in a few minutes. Does he have a stuffed animal or friend he can take to bed? J has a small super hero goat he wont sleep withiut but i think it comforts him when he wakes at night. Maybe try that?

And we’ve been letting him take a train or truck bc he freaks if we try to take it away so we said whatever just take it. We actually tried to take out some of the animals in his crib and he was adamant about having them all in there. ☹️ I wouldn’t be half as miserable if my throat just didn’t hurt S much as it does. If I could swallow or breathe without insane pain that would be so nice. Ugh.

I’m so sorry addymac, I’ve said it before but parenting when sick or hungover is the absolute worst. It’s so hard to get well when you can’t rest. As far as the sleeping, I’m guessing he has just gotten used to it with you guys and honestly when your feeling better, you’re probably going to have to try and hardcore sleep train him. It could just be a phase too but you don’t want to let it go on too long. I hope he can get back to sleeping better for you soon. Sleep shit sucks so bad. Hang in there and hope you feel better.

addymac I’m sorry you feel so terrible. Parenting through sickness is so so hard. I have totally stuck the kid in the pack n play with a show on tv and taken a little nap on the couch when I’ve needed to. Just do what you need to to make it through the day. My DS is and has been a terrible sleeper since birth. I have to stay with him until he’s asleep and then he gets up 1-2x every night. Still. At nearly 4.5. No amount of sleep training, melatonin, etc has remedied that. I truly hope you are just dealing with a phase that’ll be over soon.
