H is looking into getting me a Peloton bike and membership for when the baby comes. I’ve been wanting one for awhile, but never mentioned because of the $$$. A patient came in this week raving about it which made him mention it to me.

Thank you!! It seems like everyone is very into it once they have one. I think he feels bad because going to the gym together was our thing before M came along and he knows how much harder it’s going to get with this next little one. I’m going to look for discounts right now.

I did a Jillian Michaels 30 day shred workout today. It was...ambitious. I’m glad I did it but it’s a little depressing how much strength I have lost since October (when I hit third tri and also when my health issues really ramped up). Trying to be gentle with myself. I know if I stick with it, it’ll come back.
I still need to clean up my eating a little more. My meals are really healthy and balanced but everything I eat outside of those is diet sabotage. I’m off dairy so a lot of the healthier, higher protein snacks I used to reach for (e.g. plain Greek yogurt with almonds and berries) are out. I could do them with non-dairy yogurt obviously but the protein content is not close to the same so I feel it wouldn’t be as satiating.

There’s 71 days until my SIL’s wedding so I’m using that as a motivator right now. I have a ton of dresses and really don’t want to buy a brand new one until I’m really at my goal weight. In these next 71 days I’d like to lose 20 lbs. I realize that’s a lofty goal but I’m going to be adding in working out and I haven’t been doing that previously. I’m also signed up and ready for my dietbet tomorrow. I’m ready!

I could do them with non-dairy yogurt obviously but the protein content is not close to the same so I feel it wouldn’t be as satiating. I’ve found that just replacing my high protein dairy things was easier trying to sub stuff in. Not only was it easier to just mentally unplug from “missing out”, but you’re 100% correct in that it doesn’t really have the protein to help you out anyway. I know you were vegan for awhile, but if you need help or ideas please let me know. I just started eating dairy again in August and it honestly was such a NBD by that point. As for the workout. That’s actually fantastic. Forget about what you’ve lost over the past few months endurance and strength wise and just look forward to watching your body recover and regain. When you can switch your head to this way of thinking it becomes so much more of a journey of appreciation and enjoyment. Your body is a machine and has and can do amazing things, treat it right and push it to the limits and you’ll see what it can really do. Do that same exact workout in a few months and remember how hard this first time was, it’ll blow your mind.

Can I pay them to hold my money while I try to go without sugar for the next month ? Or just reach my goal of working out “x” times a week? H is challenging to me to no sugar during lent. We aren’t very religious and I’ve never been a “give up meat” kind of person... like, I could easily do that (and do) many times a week, but we agree there is a lot of metaphoric value to be extrapolated.. So sugar it is. ETA: no sugar = no dessert or snack type things, no using extra sugar on say strawberries (I don’t anyway) - sweets, cakes, muffins, in my coffee, no soda, etc. Fruit and certain shelf food is acceptable, ie pasta sauce

The 4 weeks long one you need to lose 4% of your body weight and the 6 month ones you lose 10%. This is only my second time doing it but I don’t think they are able to customize it in anyway. I’m tagging jubilantsquirrel because she’s more educated on this than me

I'm loving the gym. Been going 3-4 days a week depending on work/childcare. I can already feel myself getting stronger and it's been 2 weeks.

I’m tagging jubilantsquirrel because she’s more educated on this than me kleigh , DietBet and Healthy Wage are geared towards weight loss. Like WW said above, with DB you can't customize anything. Healthy Wage you can customize how much and over what time period you want to lose weight as well as how much you want to bet on it, but it's still based on weight loss I would look into 21Habit or StickK. I haven't used these before, but I've heard a lot about them and I think they might be what you're looking for. 21Habit, you "bet" $21 that you will stick to a habit for 21 days. This can be any habit. Waking up earlier, quitting smoking, drinking more water, running daily. For each day you don't meet your habit you lose $1 (all lost money is donated to charities). I believe you can only do one habit at a time though. StickK is a commitment contract app. You set your goal, time frame and incentive. You can put money on the line but you aren't charged anything upfront for your commitment. And I don't believe there is a limit on how many commitments you can make at a time.

Free Girl Scout cookies in the kitchen at work are taunting me. I came here for strength.
They are Tagalongs. Peanut butter. PB is my kryptonite.
I can do this.
I have my coffee sans sugar and a big bottle of water.
I have been SO SO thirsty last few days which I think is related. It’s been two fucking days and it feels like it’s been a month.

OMG Tagalongs are my favorite!! I would not be able to resist free ones! I am proud of myself, though. I've only purchased 2 boxes of Girl Scout cookies so far. I mean, they were both gone in about 1.5 days, but still. That's strength for me.

I made dairy free brownies with the kids yesterday and, well, they aren’t going to eat themselves.

I am “allowing” for honey. So if anyone has a good sweets/dessert recipe that uses honey I would forever be indebted.
I had oatmeal with berries and honey this morning and that was deeply satisfying. For about an hour.

And yes I know honey has a ton of sugar. My mind processes having it differently, it feels healthier. This is a mental thing.

kleigh, try sauteing some fruits in coconut oil or ghee. Maybe banana with cinnamon or strawberries with some balsamic vinegar or vanilla drizzled on them.

I'm stress eating today. I bought the boys a package of cookies to have for a snack for the next few days. It's been 30 minutes and I've eaten half of them. I'm stopping now.

Silver lining of that stomach bug. It are the last 5 days of “no sugar added” much easier.
I have not caved once, except for aforementioned honey allowances.
I think I’m starting to turn the corner where the idea doesn’t even sound as enticing as it did a couple weeks ago.
ETA: We also started walks weather permitting. And I started some fast and quick toning and stretching. I was sidelined with the bug this past week but excited to start back up tomorrow.

So far, everything has been going great. I am about 10 days in and I have had zero cheats - no alcohol, no deviation from the diet etc. and I feel great. It helps because my H is also finally on board so he has helped me to stay on track and accountable. I am down 8lbs and 2lbs away from the next decade, which is the closest I have come to that decade in a long time. It's so close I can taste it.
I am going to enjoy a cheat night tonight though. I was hoping to make it to the next decade so that it could be looked at as a reward but I am ready. I also need something to put me out of my misery when my H watches march madness all night AGAIN.

Last week I went to a HIIT class that my cousin's finance runs. It's every Monday so I'm going to try to go to that every week. He also has another class Tuesdays if I can't make it Monday. If I start flaking out, my cousin will kick my ass lol.
I'm also finally getting to a point where I don't need to survive on carbs although it's still a big part of my diet. I'm trying to do better because I don't want to end up where I did last time after having C.

I’m still at a net weight gain of 0 but im sure that’s going to change very soon. I started this pg 20 lbs heavier so I think that’s why. I’ve been eating like crap bc I can get away with it right now. Frosted Flakes has definitely been a craving of mine lol.

I have not participated much in this thread but I am in need of kicking myself into shape. I gained weight in the fall and never dropped it back off. And now most of my pants are uncomfortable and I need to wear looser shirts so my stomach isn’t poking out.
So I had heard of this track that is at the building next door to work but I’ve never been there. Well i brought some workout clothes today and convinced a coworker to go over there with me. Omg, it was a huge indoor track with more than 20 cardio machines and free Weights. This is part of my organization and I can use it for free during lunch hour. I have worked here for 9 years and never knew this. I can’t believe how much money I’ve wasted on gym memberships in the past!
So now my goal is to work out at least once a week. I often have lunch time meetings, so I can’t commit to more than that. But at least moving more will help.

hangry I was actually surprised at how much of a difference once a week did for me. And it motivated me to do better with other things throughout the week (like avoiding sugar and not eating out so much). I'm know doing more would have made a bigger impact but it was really all I could manage and it worked for me.

I'm doing 3x per week and since I started I can't even count how many times I've chosen fruit over chocolate, something healthy over junky, water over tea (I still drink it! But cut down) because I just feel better and motivated.

Yes, if I could just get 3 x a week of even short cardio I think I would feel so much better. The weather and sunlight helps with motivation too. Winter really sucked this year.
