I want to make a receiving blanket for my SIL with baby's name on it. Something super simple with iron on vinyl. Has anyone made one? I'm not sure where to find a solid blanket at or what type of fabric? Fleece or muslin fabric?

I've never done it, but my preference would be embroidery (I'm an embroiderer though). I would worry that iron on vinyl would be hard and stiff for the baby.

When you go to iron it on, you will need to put a TON of pressure on the iron. It is best if you put the blanket on a tile floor/cookie sheet on the floor and then lean your WHOLE body weight onto the iron. You will know it adheres well when you can see the weave of the fabric in the vinyl.
Also, the item should be washed cold without fabric softener, that can cause the iron to lift after a while.
