I'm not sure what the norm is at our kids' age for milk. We are kind of inconsistent right now. She has fully weaned on her own so I'm not sure when or how much milk I should be giving her. She has about 10oz a day at daycare and I actually don't even know when she gets it 🤷
So I'm just polling the crowd to see what you all do!

We give milk at meal times or when he has a large snack. He drinks milk but prefers water so I've still been giving his vitamin d drops. I think the pediatrician said that he'd need to be drinking 2-3 full cups of milk (which he's not) to forego the vitamin d supplement but it sounds like your dd may be. I'll give him water to sip on throughout the day (I just fill a kid size CamelBak with water). I still nurse 3 times a day but usually before nap/bed/motn.

I think it depends on if you're kid is eating other dairy products like whole fat yogurt and cheese. Our goal for soy milk is 16-20oz a day (we aren't even close to that). But that's for a protein and fat factor since he can't have other dairy.

I want to say that the pedi told us he needed 9 - 18 oz a day. L was having some constipation issues at first so I really limited it to a bottle at bed and one in the morning for a little bit. Now he typically gets about 8 oz at night and 4 more in the morning during the week. He only gets water at the babysitter (daycare). On the weekends he gets a bit more because I will give him some at nap time.

I have no clue what the # of ounces he drinks, but I offer a cup of milk at every meal. Sometimes he drinks half a cup, sometimes 2. He eats a lot of yogurt and cheese though as well
I offer water during the day and at snack time

We do about 8 oz in a bottle first thing in the morning or in the middle of the night. He drinks water the rest of the time. E STILL has terrible bouts of gas and the milk at night seemed to make it worse. He drinks out of a cup the rest of the time.
ETA: He has whole fat yogurt every day and we limit cheese because of the gas problem.

I try to give C milk but she doesn't care for it. She eats full fat cheese every day to make up for it. But we also just hot put on a pediasure diet because she's falling off the weight curve, so I'm probably not a good source of info. E also snubbed milk and just had cheese and yogurt instead and stayed on her curve 🤷

B gets milk at dc with breakfast and lunch and they take water breaks throughout the day.
I offer milk when he wakes up, at dinner, and follow him around with his cup until he goes to sleep. He usually gets 4-8oz from us per day + whatever he takes at dc. We keep his water where he can get it while he plays at home the rest of the time. He loves water.
He still nurses at bedtime and motn.

N hates milk. I offer a cup every meal (when I remember o guess) but really doesn’t like it. He gets yogurt and cheese. He still nurses before bed and MOTN.

E gets an 8oz bottle of milk in the morning and another before bed. She’ll sometimes have some with breakfast but won’t drink much. She mostly has water with meals.

N has cashew almond protein milk instead of WCM but he drinks about 10-12 oz I would say. I send 5oz to daycare for him to have at lunch and he drinks another 5-7ish oz with dinner. He does eat cheese and I think might have yogurt at daycare occasionally. Both of my boys have a water cup filled at all times.

C drinks a lot of milk. I actually don’t give it with meals because I’m afraid he’ll just fill up on milk and not eat, but he gets at least 4 cups a day otherwise. When he first gets up, snacks, sometimes before nap and bed too. And whenever ds1 drinks a cup of course C must have some too.

Thanks everyone! Sounds like we're all over the map, so I guess we're fine 😁

Thanks everyone! Sounds like we're all over the map, so I guess we're fine 😁 There is such a wide range! DD1 still loves milk and drinks a bunch of 2% with meals. But the friends we went on a trip with; their 15 month old doesn’t drink any whole milk (still BF) and their 4 year old only drinks milk occasionally at preschool.

We always offer a cup of milk with breakfast and sometimes at other meals and one at bedtime (he's been asking for a snack lately so I started offering milk). He also eats 2 4 oz yogurts a day and cheese most days. H knows how to sign for milk so if he asks for it we give it to him but at times I will just give him water with a meal as well.

We've finally been able to get her to drink milk without puking (though she's puked 2/5 nights since Thursday). She gets milk at breakfast and dinner. Whole milk yogurt and cheese often. She also gets an 8oz bottle of toddler formula at night, though we're going to be starting to wean her off of that. Switch that to milk and then off completely in a month or so. I think if I remember, the recommendation at this age is about 16oz/day.

Chiming in late but my pedi says 16-24oz of dairy a day. Full fat for milk; Yogurt is ounce for ounce equivalent to milk. Hard cheese is something like 1.5oz cheese (and 2oz for processed cheese) = 8oz milk (I can't remember exactly but if I get the sheet downstairs I'll get mobbed by my child ).
