I didn't realize how popular Adeline was (with DD being Adelaide). I'm especially glad we went for a non-Addie NN now that there may be a ton of those in her peer group.

I find the trends very interesting. My great-grandmothers, born in the 1880's & 1890's were Hazel, Viola, Adeline, and Marie-Antionette. The names scream old, old lady to me -- I was fortunate enough to know all but one of my great-grandmothers, and I do associate their names with really old ladies. The rising popularity of those, and similar, names really surprises me.

oliversbear, I agree with the trends, especially the idea of the 100-year rule where names cycle back, even if it may be done partially for the family connection. Although it is fascinating what names everyone considers old. For example, many people consider Harr.ison trendy, but due to my family connection, it's old to me.

We are destined to like the names that our great grandparents liked (ie - our grandparent names).
This means our grandkids are going to be all Carols and Richards. Interesting!

As long as we miss the generation that falls in love with Jennifer again, I'll be happy. I was just telling my husband that in my all-girls high school class of 259, there were 29 Jennifers, and every girl my older brother dated was named Jennifer.

Some of these alternate spellings are pretty cringe-worthy.

I have an uncommon name and growing up I really, really wanted to be named Jennifer or Jessica like my friends.

Yea, my mom was saying that most people using the popular 100 year old names nowadays, are too young to actually have known someone with that name. So like Cora seems like an old lady name to my mom because she remembers her grandmother, but it's not old lady to me because I never met her.
I personally like middle of the road names that are like #20-50. Normal, common, but not every person in your class.
