It's my last day of work before we close on the house tomorrow and move next week.
And I'm on campus at my old job with my boss, talking to a researcher and one of their comm people to talk about teaming together on an NIH grant. Small world.

B is such a mess. He’s extra whiny and clingy and on top of having an already clingy 2 year old I’m losing whatever patience I had left . I’m trying hard to remember he doesn’t feel well but he’s being really defiant so it’s hard.
I also woke up not feeling great. I keep getting the chills and my throat hurts. My friend was supposed to come over today but I cancelled on her. She’s pregnant but I also don’t feel like having company.

I feel like this whole house process was super fast! I’m happy though. I bet you’re dying to get out of there and into your own place!

Happy Thursday! It’s a quiet day in the office today which is nice given the day I had yesterday. Yesterday I had my annual review, which was very positive (great raise and bonus) except for my manager AGAIN bringing up me working remotely although he reiterates he’s fine with it, but others = CC, aren’t.. There’s a whole thing to this. He was under the impression it was more than it is bc CC is still complaining and I’m like, I see him every day and he stands there talking to me for an hour+. Plusalso it’s none of his business! I’m gonna post in PB because I want opinions but that might take a day or two. Simultaneous to this, my family had some sensitive issues going on. TW for our pregnants esp / newborn, medical, heart issues I could have some of the details incorrect bc honestly it’s hard to remember details for me and bc I’m usually in the middle of taking care of the kids or working and bc info gets passed three times before I get it.
My niece just had her 2nd baby (due end of February, delivered last week - 6 days ago). At the anatomy scan they found out he had some heart issues which affects his blood circulation (?). Initially she was told he would not make it. Then she went to Yale week after week and they became more comfortable, but did tell her he would need surgery as soon as he was born. Then, earlier this month they said, thy said, they want her to deliver him and they’ll do th surgery 5 days later (yesterday).
I was never kept informed of the exact dx etc, partly bc no one wanted to talk about it and also bc I think my mom and my sister (nieces mom) wants to keep things positive.
So on Monday baby had a stint put into one of his arteries via angioplasty in the neck (?). He did well. Yesterday they were to be performing open heart surgery. However, they found his stomach distended and that gas was building in the stomach or something. They decided to postpone surgery until they could figure out what the issue was. As the doctors are trying to (?) thread a 4th line (?) , my niece falls asleep in the chair bc she hadn’t slept in days (and is havi her own PP complications). My mom was there but told the doctor that she wasn’t going to wake my niece but was going to head out to go to work since the surgery was off.
Cue my mom getting a phone call from my niece in tears that she was woken to he doctors telling her she had to get up and get out, that the baby was crashing. Apparently he repeatedly was crashing (don’t know what the correct term is) and they were rushing him to surgery.
I don’t know how or when they found out what the issue was, during surgery or before his open heart surgery was cancelled..
In emergency surgery they removed 75% of the bowel and part of his small intestine. He has a colostomy. They expect that once hey are able to do heart surgery, after recovery, they can remove the colostomy.
I don’t understand a fraction of this. My mom says the defrib they used isn’t like the paddles but something via one of his lines (?) and they had to do it 5 times before getting him into surgery.
Following surgery, last night and his morning he is stable.
TL;DR - my nieces son is 6 days old and having serious medical issues.

I'm supposed to have lunch with my client that bailed on me a couple weeks ago. I hope you brought a back up lunch. She did confirm this morning. But she wants to go here and it's family style: www.thecookinggirls.com/menus/I'm not that excited about it. She used to live in China for a couple of years so I'll let her order everything since it's supposed to be a more authentic Chinese restaurant. I was just hoping for sushi or something.

kleigh A) CC reeeeeally needs to fuck off already. Why is he so obsessed with you? B) feel free to message me if you want a clearer picture on anything going on with your nieces baby. If it’s something I don’t know I have no problem finding the answer. It’s all so terrifying and confusing and I’ll be thinking of all of you. Just remember that they can work absolute miracles in those NICU situations.

My boys both have nasty colds. H is being really good about it but you can see he's miserable. Having a nap now with him propped up on my lap. Hopefully DH does some cleaning while he's downstairs alone.

goldenlove Very important question. Is our CW bringing in Paczki for Paczki day this year? Haha yes! He actually came by yesterday and told us "FYI I'm bringing in 3-4 dozen paczkis next week". He likes to over use FYI. He's actually transitioning out of our group but he's still under the same department and sits nearby.

Your gifs speak to my soul starbuck Rainy moves are the best because everyone hops to it and doesn’t mess around. It rained the last two times we moved and only had one tarp so we used our comforters for the big electronics and upholstery then tossed them through a wash cycle. Boxes got unloaded quicker because wet cardboard smell is yuck. Biggest bonus: calories don’t count during moving week so enjoy all the takeout until the kitchen is ready for your masterpieces!!
