Infant. Toddler, and Preschooler Check-in (2/14)

Age: 2!

Milestones: He's 2! EEK!

Challenges: He's been pretty cool this week, so nothing new.

Funny/cute stories: At his birthday party on Sunday he asked me for a fork so he could eat his birthday cake. Before I could get one for him, he said, "It's okay, Mama," and just stuck his face in the cake LOL

How are you? Tired already. It's too early in tax season to be this tired.

Anything else? Today is the anniversary of the first day MH and I got to hold C. It was his fourth day in the NICU and I'll never forget shuffling as fast as possible to the NICU to hold him.

QOTW: I got the kids little trinket boxes and filled it with a mini Dr. Suess book, a toy donut/squishy thing, and some candy. I also got some mini heart balloons and made a balloon and lollipop bouquet. They loved it. My mom always did little cutsie things like that.

We're planning on Chinese and a movie. Which is perfect.

Age: almost 18mo!

Milestones: canine coming in. He peed in the potty from a dry diaper three times yesterday. I’m aghast and don’t think it’ll stick but my nanny is determined. Have at it, lady. 🤷🏻‍♀️

Challenges: sleeping and tantrums. My gosh. The tantrums.

Funny/cute stories: we got him a play kitchen this week and he’s obsessed. And I didn’t realize it makes noises when you place the pots and tea kettle on correctly, so now when it goes off he yells “HOT HOT” since that’s what we told him for the oven / stove lol.

How are you? Tired. I hurt my thumb and I called in to make an appt with my pcp and I can’t see her til March 12! I may have to go to urgent care instead bc this pain is unreal and getting worse after a month of using a splint and daily ibprofuen.

Anything else? His meltdowns are so exhausting at the end of the day.

QOTW: Do you get your little one anything for Valentine's Day? Do you have plans for tonight?
We didn’t so anything for N but our nanny got him like 50 gifts lol. Dh got me roses (secondtime EVER in 12 years together!) and cupcakes and I got him chocolates. We did a nice steak dinner with wine the night after bc of our work schedules. And watched some tv.

addymac - How is he 18 months already?!?!?! And wow for the potty action - that's great! C has no interest yet, unless you mean sitting on it and peeing right next to it on the floor, and then 'flushing' the empty potty LOL

Right?? I can’t believe C is TWO!
Yeah I am floored that he’s done that with her. Of course with us, he won’t even let us try to change his diaper when he has poop bc we discover the poop and he doesn’t even care. So I’m taking this whole interest in the potty with a huge grain of salt. I’ve decided I really need to just go on vacation for a week and leave him with the nanny and when we get back he’ll be potty trained 😂
