jewels I would do the PNO but pick them up by 9pm, that way they are home in bed by 9.30pm but you guys could still do an early dinner and maybe a movie? ETA: What time would you be wanting to stay out until? If it is until 11 I'd do a sitter so the kids can be in bed at a decent time. Would they sleep at daycare? and you'd pick them up, while they are asleep, wake them up to drive them home and put them back to bed? I do not compute the logistics of this. But I'm pretty routine about sleep time, the latest B has EVER gone to sleep is 9.30pm and that was on NYE.

jewels I'd do a sitter, but that's only because sitters don't cost us with family close. I definitely wouldn't leave them there until 11 because Evie wouldn't sleep and would be a damn nightmare the next day.

jewels, I would do the PNO. It is people you know, he'll get extra time with his friends. And you can pick him up before 11 and just be slightly off his bedtime. It's a Friday night, I assume, so he could always sleep in the next day or nap, since it's Saturday.

His temp is down to 100.8. He's drinking water and ate some applesauce.

jewels I would do PNO. One late night might make things tough the next day, but I would just keep my expectations low and try to encourage a nap.

The one at our school goes from 6-9, I don’t think I’d leave my kids there til 11 even if it ran that long. They go to bed at 7/7:30 so we normally drop them right at 6, have an early dinner and are back at school by 8; they’re home and in bed by 8:30 or so, so not too bad. I still prefer using a sitter bc we come home and the kids are in bed asleep but I think PNO are a great option and are usually a lot cheaper!

Glad to hear the temp is coming down tgrimes. FX it stays that way. What is it with kids and spray bottles? Both mine are obsessed. I just let C "windex" the back sliding doors (read: she did 100 squirts of windex and wiped a bit, then I finished), and then gave her a spray bottle of water and we 'watered' the plants out front. I think she would have stayed out there all day spraying stuff, lol. It is so nice out, why can't this weather last??

But I'm pretty routine about sleep time, the latest B has EVER gone to sleep is 9.30pm and that was on NYE. From what I understand they "offer" them to sleep at Day Care, but some of the older kids don't sleep. She said we can request it and they do their best to accommodate, but if no one else is sleeping it will be hard. I, too, do not like the kids to go to bed late. We stayed out this year on NYE till midnight but that was literally the only time they've been up past 9:30. But they both did great, and I have been trying to loosen up about it b/c they both sleep well and I think I am a little extra about bed times and could deal with being a little more lax. But it's hard for me Honestly, S would probably say he was tired by 9 and ask to go to sleep. B, however, has massive FOMO, and I can't really picture him going to sleep if there are still kids awake. I could pick up by 9, but it doesn't start till 5 , so I feel like I wouldn't be "getting my money's worth" As to the logistics, yeah, we'd be carrying them to the car, driving home, and putting them back to bed We live about a 2 minute drive away.

And mwhip we'd have to pay either way, The price of the PNO is about what we'd pay for 4 - 4.5 hours of a sitter, but to klong11's point, they'd be with their friends. 2 of S friends are confirmed + and older sibling who is now in K who he loves, and 3 of B's besties will be there.

My kid doesn't nap at home with us, so she would be an intolerable grouch. Granted, she has stayed up past 10 a few times, but it's usually when I'm having drinks and don't worry about what she's going to be like the next day. :-) In your situation, I'd send them to PNO and pick them up when you think they've probably reached their limit. I'm glad you all have the opportunity to get away just the two of you before he leaves. 7.5 weeks is a long time.

I am trying to decide what to do... MH leaves Monday for 7.5 weeks. We were planning on going out at some point this weekend but hadn't booked a sitter yet. DC is doing a "date night" from 5-11. They do them periodically but we've never been able to take advantage of it. Only problem is they said some of the kids don't really sleep. I worry that B, especially, won't sleep if his little friends are running around. Should I do the Parents' night out thing, or should I just get a sitter at home? I know, these are super serious problems I have here Do whatever it takes to have a date

If I leave a cabinet unlatched with a lock, you can bet your ass M2 is belonging for it looking for spray bottles.

I want lunch. I have to wait for lunch relief though. I need to do better about eating a decent breakfast. Most days I just have coffee. Sometimes I bring something to snack on before lunch. I am starting to get hangry.

jewels I would personally get the sitter because DH and I usually Uber to date night so we can both drink and then I wouldn’t be able to pick my kids up. How am I the only one here thinking this way?

WWYD? Valentines Day is on a Thursday which is the one day the kids don't go to daycare. Daycare is having Vday parties for both kids' rooms that day. Would you send valentines the day before to be passed out at the party or just say screw it and save the money and effort?
N will be having a party at preschool on Wednesday so she'll get in on the fun there. H probably doesn't know the difference.

jewels not sure what time your kids go to bed, but ours go early, so when we do date night it always starts a little later. I’m always so much more relaxed when i know the kids are sound asleep. Plus not having to worry about at what time exactly you need to be home is nice too.

I’d probably ask ds what he wants to do, for dd I’d say, she doesn’t know any better and maybe only bring something for the teacher. But then again, valentines isn’t big here in schools, so what do I know 🤷🏼♀️.
