We had a delayed start for school due to thick fog today so I decided to take DD2 in for her blood draw. The ladies were awesome. One of them came in late due to the fog, saw my screaming kid we were holding down, and rushed in to help with coat and purse still on.
We should know results by Monday but I’m not sure when someone will call us.
We may not even have school tomorrow due to flooding here. Some kids were returned to school by their bus after dismissal due to impassable roads. This weather here is crazy!

Pediatric ortho was an adventure. they were really far behind and our appt that was supposed to be at 3:30 ended with us leaving the office at 5... Anyway. All is well, I guess. We did an xray and the doc said everything looks perfect and has diagnosed us with laziness. He suggested getting her in an environment with other kids her age and hope she has or develops FOMO. So, I guess that's where we are. In better news, first round of xrays we thought we could leave her cloth diaper on. Turns out that's a no 😂

cythe I can’t imagine how frustrating it is when your willing to move moutbtains for your kid and the doctor diagnosis it as “laziness”. Like yes, your glad it’s not serious but also that is not super helpful either. I am so glad nothing is wrong hip/joint/bone wise but “put her around other kids” doesn’t seem like a huge help.

Exactly. And I asked the pedi at her 12 mo appt if it would be beneficial for her to be around other kids and she said it hasnt been shown to actually make a difference. So, here we are.

cythe that’s great that E’s ortho visit turned out normal and her X-ray turned out to be a hoot 😂 but like danvers said it’s not helpful when they have nothing to offer up. Is E pulling up to stand or trying to at this point? I am just partial to babies not meeting their milestones due to my nephew and i would certainly call and have a talk with the pedi again. I am sure you’re doing everything you can and only you can advocate and be the squeaky wheel for E. Please don’t take this the wrong way, I’m just concerned and thinking of you 😘 keep us in the loop.

So the deep freeze finally descended on us this week. The roads were like an ice rink and I shoveled the driveway and sidewalks yesterday and today. Taitai 12 dishes! that’s incredible. August Blooms I die with that baby and his or her chopstick skills. My 4 yr old can’t even use his fork and spoon responsibly 🤦🏻♀️ That’s great that you’ve find a place which serves gluten free Chinese since soy sauce has gluten in it but there is more to Chinese cooking than soy sauce 😂 I made a simple grilled salmon ( for prosperity 🤣) and stir fried mix vegetables on Tuesday. I’ll make my grandmas meatballs, dumplings and a noodle dish ( for longevity 😅 - I’ll use rice vermicelli cos that’s all I have ) and a vegetable dish this weekend. I really wanted to do a “hotpot” kinda like Shabu-shabu but the thought of hot boiling soup and DS makes me nervous 😬. Maybe I’m a few years time. I really really love me some Shabu shabu 😬😋 Anyways we dressed up lil fella was in a typical outfit and it was hilarious **

duskymonkey He is so cuuuuute in his little outfit! We had DS1 wear a similar one in red - DH has the pics on his phone though. I’ll ask him to send me one so I can share later. Those dishes you made and are making sound awesome! We had fish for prosperity and we had a noodle dish for longevity as well! One of our guests was vegetarian, so of the 12 dishes, like 8 of them were vegetarian. But they were so tasty - I really love Chinese food ❤️💕. danvers Wow - that is some crazy weather. Stay safe! cythe That diaper X-ray is super cute, and I’m glad the doctor didn’t find anything serious, but all the same - I get your frustration. So sorry. Not much advice, other than to say feel free to vent away here.

Nope, not even trying. Shes interested in things above her and she will scooch towards the sofa and reach for things but when she realizes she cant reach it she just gives up and moves onto something she can reach. If I try and help her to stand or make her stand, she melts down immediately and balls up in the air. It's very frustrating.

We've had so much ice, DH hasn't had school since Tuesday. All the back roads are solid ice. The interstates finally got cleared yesterday afternoon. Needless to say we've been cooped up.
My grandpa turns 102 tomorrow.
They took him to the hospital yesterday morning because he hasn't been feeling well and his urine has blood in it. They transferred him to a bigger (better) hospital in my metro city. None of his kids could come up here yesterday because roads are icy and we wouldn't let mom drive that far on icy roads (they're 1.5 hours away) and her brothers are farmers and had to tend to their cattle (feed, break ice, etc). I ran over to the hospital yesterday afternoon so he wouldn't be alone. He has a blood clot in his leg and a possible tumor near his bladder. 😢 Mom is up here today and will stay with us until he's discharged.
I hate that he's in the hospital but I'm grateful for the one-on-one time I got to spend with him yesterday. ❤

duskymonkey just adorable - that smile is adorable! CoachTsWife I’m sorry your grandpa is in the hospital. 102 is awesome, I hope he recovers a bit to celebrate somehow soon. Everyday at that age would be my celebration! Taitai it sounds like it’s been a good week a glad the air quality has been good. We saw the sun today and mynpior students were misled into thinking it was “warm” just by looking out the window. Sorry kids it’s only 7° outside! It’s got to be just as rough for you all during poor AQI days to look out and see “nice” weather but know you can go out. Your Chinese New Year sounded fun too!

We have been so insanely busy trying to get the house tidied and paint touched up etc to get it ready to list. Selling a house with kids is so much harder/worse and it’s not even listed yet 😳😬

danvers How awful about that poor kid who passed away from meningitis. I can’t imagine what his poor parents must be feeling. And yes - the US healthcare system is absolutely horrible. It boggles my mind how anyone thinks it’s acceptable for something as fundamental/essential as healthcare to be so inaccessible to so many people. Awful. Glad your brother is ok. CoachTsWife Sorry to hear that your Grandpa is in the hospital. I hope the roads improve so he can get more special visitors on his birthday tomorrow. cythe That sounds really difficult to deal with. So sorry, and I hope E will start showing interest in walking/pulling up soon. Hugs.

cythe get your frustration out here. Hugs and lots of hair pats. I’m guessing the pedi is going to wait til 18 months to make any sort of determination. I’m glad to hear She is scootin and that’s really good but I get your frustration. We’re here for you. 😘

danvers I hope next week will be better for you. I’m really glad your brother is ok. That’s just such a tragedy with your student and should never happen, not in the country at least. The healthcare system here is really messed up and tied up in profit margins and BS bureaucracy. Every other developed nations healthcare is accessible to everyone, even my “developing” country has a healthcare in place for the people although they have other massive issues 🙄 Hubs and I are in the middle of that BS now and Its made me think of actually going back to work FT at just not any place but a large enough company just so we can afford health insurance since we’re on our own and this year the premiums have risen considerably and the options are awful.

CoachTsWife, glad you had that time with your grandpa and wow! That’s just incredible that your grandpa has seen and experienced a decade of evolution. Hope your family can get to see him soon and he’ll be feeling better. It’s been frigid and snowy here these past several days too.

Taitai, glad to hear the AQI is better this week and hope it’ll stay that way while your parents are in town. Chinese food is good if done well and so easy to do vegetarian. Though, I’m biased, the variety and style of M’sian food is the best 😬 The prep work is time consuming so I’m at awe that you guys managed to make 12 dishes! I’m also chuffed that you’ve embraced the local celebrations 😅

You’re right about the prep time for cutting/chopping everything, but we kept it simple and it wasn’t too difficult. We had 5 adults cooking, which made the 2.5 hours of cook time go by really fast! Tofu is pretty easy to cook too, so those dishes were quick. CNY is a big deal here, so it’s something we look forward to each year for sure! DS1 is already reeeeaaaaally liking the hong bao thing 🤣 I love Malaysian food too - the depth of flavors is 👍👍

August Blooms TD season 3 is much better than season 2. It’s not perfect but it’s much more engaging. duskymonkey Peaky Blinders Season 3 was wild and confusing. I still liked it bc I’m a die hard for that show but the show has not been as good since it ended season 2. I will say that the end of season 4 definitely had me interested in where it’s going.

Switching topics, but if you are still nursing, how many times a day?
I know I’m a few months behind but I’m curious. Today was my first day of dropping another feeding so I’m down to 4. She has basically refused to drink cows milk so far. I’m not pumping anymore or else I’d try to mix. I know it takes time and the right vessel but I’m ready for it to be over.

We’re still nursing 3-4x over here - DS2 eats when he wakes up, then I nurse him at lunch (after he has eaten his lunch and right before his nap), and then at bedtime before he goes to sleep. DS2 inevitably wakes up anywhere from midnight to 3am, and I nurse him back to sleep MOTN. So I guess actually 4x - but all 4 of those times are on the sidelines of sleep.

danvers I'm so glad your brother is ok! How scary! rebeccabunch I'm nursing when he wakes up in the morning and before bed in the evening. I just recently tried naps without nursing and it is going better than anticipated!

rebeccabunch nursing 2-3 times a day here. Weaning MOTN helped with getting her to sleep all night so now it’s just in the morning, maybe when I get home from work and maybe before bed. She likes cows milk which helps but she doesn’t really need it.

Taitai oh my gosh you're still motn nursing? Sleep little one!! I knooooowwwww. But I have this horribly skewed impression of baby sleep, because no joke - DS1 was up to eat like every 2-3 hours until he turned 2. So, DS2 getting up to nurse only once at 2 or 3am (and otherwise sleeping from 7pm - 7am) is like....omg, he’s an amazing sleeper! 🤣😂 I know - we’re crazy 😂😩

We are still in the depth of extreme cold polar vortex weather and it is the worst. Both kids and my dog are stir crazy.
We are still nursing in the morning and bedtime here too. He is fine to skip it if I’m not around but if I’m home there is zero chance he is missing out 😂 He just points, says “eh?” and signs more and/or please repeatedly lol. I have no plans of weaning right now. He is another one who doesn’t like cows milk (DD didn’t either). He will drink a couple sips occasionally. He loves cheese and yogurt and kefir so he gets his dairy/calcium there instead
