So what happens next? A coworker just suggested that Fairfax resign first, so Northam can appoint Tom Perriello as LG before HE then resigns. I don't think it works this way but that's a more comforting thought than reality. There’s not a lot of concrete info, but I think yes, this could happen. I believe but can not confirm for sure that an LG vacancy is filled by the governor. Whether it has to be confirmed by the state Senate is another story. Rs will never confirm someone Northam appoints. |

Hi, it has been awhile since I have posted and I mainly lurk but in spite of the dumpster fire that is everything else, I am excited about a lot of the talk surrounding healthcare and medication. Senator Klobuchar especially has been vocal about the accessibility of insulin. My three year old DS was diagnosed with Type 1 Diabetes in December and the costs have been insane. It terrifies me that one day he might not be able to afford insulin.

I’m trying very hard to not freak out about the state of VA state politics right now. I’m so mad that this shit wasn’t vetted, especially the photos. Wtf to privileged men who are so unused to dealing with the consequences of their actions that they don’t think twice about them until it’s too late. Now we all get to pay. It blows my mind that none of this came out sooner. How can it just slide past the getting process? And a big wtf to these three men doing this crap in the first place. It's not hard to treat people with respect. |

NBC is reporting that Fairfax said "F that B" about Tyson so he's 1,000% cancelled This extraordinary lack of judgment is unforgiveable. Also, it speaks to bigger issues that make him seem more guilty. This is Day 2 of me not getting any work done talking to people about Virginia. |

Universities still wring their hands over disciplining privileged “kids” for hateful behavior, never mind the people it hurts or the fact that those “kids” are over 18 and should know better. Yale’s issues a few years ago come to mind...the number of high profile progressive academics I saw screaming about the value of free speech and youthful rebellion while ignoring the dismissal of minority voices was appalling. It’s a huge cultural problem, but we can do better. And there are plenty of people of all races and sexes who recognize and denounce this behavior (along with sexual assault and misogyny). Let’s vet our politicians like they are living in the 21st century and elevate the ones without racist and misogynistic baggage. Politics should ideally be a privilege of character and problem-solving skills, not of demographic power and wealth. |

Loving the NM love today! Our new governor is so exciting to me and I'm thrilled she's recalled the national guard troops.
Our previous governor was so incredibly awful and lived directly inside Trump's ass as soon as he was anything so this is a big change.

I love how Rs like Reschenthaler put the view of gun owners as being a war zone having to protect themselves EVERY SINGLE DAY. I know for most POC in rough neighborhoods that is ABSOLUTELY the case but I feel he is talking about most rural white families. The scare tactics continue.
Are there statistics of gun owners? Locations, Ages, Races, Income level?
