jacks and Eames. The transition from 1 kid to 2 was rough but it only lasts a little while. I am sure my family will have days of full of pbs coming this spring. The newborn phase will pass and you will attack the park, museum or splash park again with 2 or 3 kids.

Eames I have the same guilty feeling. I feel like I canβt be the mom I want to right now because Iβm so tired and uncomfortable. And I worry about what it will be like when the baby comes for DD and not being able to give undivided attention to the baby.

I was such a hot mess in the newborn stage with D1. I want to believe Iβve got my shit together a little more now, but maybe I donβt? My biggest challenge was breastfeeding. She took 45 freaking minutes every time she ate which basically gave me an hour of not having her latched to my boob to do all the things, while holding her so she would nap.
Maybe I should get on the wait list for that baby nurse I met this weekend...

I went back to stalk the hospital bag thread because that's my goal to pack by next week (I'm making my hopefully final (lolyeahright) Amazon order in the next day or 2) and saw a few of you mentioned a big sister/brother gift from baby. What are you planning for that or have done? I was honestly more focused on letting E pick something out for the baby so that wasn't on my radar and I'm not sure if I'll do it, but was curious what you all planned.

pambee I need to make my packing list soon... good call. Iβve been toying with the idea of doing the American Girl doll baby version. L love, love, loves her babies and I think the AG ones are a bit bigger than the ones she has. I havenβt looked up price at all or figured out logistics (do I buy it? Let her go pick everything out? Before baby comes or after?). Otherwise, I might do a gift that is more along the lines of something to occupy her or promote some independent play time.

Maybe I should get on the wait list for that baby nurse I met this weekend... My DD was the same. She would latch and hang in there forever. Everyone kept saying they fall off when they are done and I was like ummm not my kid. I eventually learned to keep it to 30 mins or so because if they are on there forever they can expend more energy then they are taking in. I'd also use that mark to switch to the other side. She also just used me as a pacifier so there was that. We had weight issues in the beginning so I was afraid to have her stop nursing. I've been trying to use some of my down time lately to reread and watch some videos about newborn stuff.

pambee My MIL (the gift giver) is all over the big sister shirt and a gift from her for the baby. I guess I should think about something for her. Maybe a game. My DD is super into board games right now and she could play it when we get home.

I'm getting a gift for her from the baby to give her at the hospital, but it's just going to be another princess doll from Target to add to her ever-growing collection. Nothing big, just enough so that she (hopefully) doesn't feel too left out.

jacks and tapdancer, LT for commiseration. DD used me as a pacifier too, and I held her for most naps. I know I won't be able to do that this time, so I'm a little nervous on how it will all go.

jacks do you mean a Bitty Baby? We got one for DD when she turned 2, and it's still her favorite baby. She's 4.5 now. I have seen them at Costco if you have a membership, they come with a whole set to care for them. I think they're ~$60 from AG. So a pricey baby, but it's held up VERY well is really used. I recommend!

Eames Yes, the Bitty baby. I just looked on costco and such a good deal for their set. I just have to convince H now. She has the Target version of the AG doll, but sheβs really more into babies than the bigger dolls.

Eames thanks for the baby doll recommendation. I will have to check prices here. I got a corolle baby doll for dd1 when dd2 was born and she is very well loved but also looks like it haha. Her limbs did not fair so well and have had to be sewn at the seams many times.

I really need to throw her in the wash again.

pambee, we're not getting her anything big, because she'll be only days from turning 2. Since she's still young, and obsessed with her light up troll sneakers (Her aunt bought them for her as a gag xmas gift and so of course she's now obsessed), we bought the next size up at Target on clearance. LOL. I may also get her a baby stroller, bc my sister had said she was getting her that for her birthday/christmas and she never did. She already has twin dolls and doesn't love them, but loves the doll strollers at daycare.

Maybe I can sew that together for her before next week. I still have 3 preschool days free (provided this week doesn't get canceled because of the weather)

Thanks for the ideas! Still not sure if we'll get her anything but I like the idea of doll related gifts. She's already obsessed with all the baby gear she'd probably like some more things like that, but she has a few she hardly plays with too....

This dry skin is killing me! It's usually not TOO bad if I lather the lotion on immediately after a shower but I forgot for a few hours tonight and my skin just like shriveled up. And maybe tmi but my nipples are so dry they're like cracking/flaking dry skin and this seems not fair considering what they're going to go through with breastfeeding in a few weeks π I'm contemplating using some of the lanolin cream I bought today already...

Good point about close birthdays, E's isn't that close but she's mid April so we can just get her a gift "from him" then, too. I'm sure the novelty and excitement will be wearing off for her a bit by then π And man, those light up shoes are life! We have paw patrol ones and they get worn every day. Outfit does not matter.

The whole city is shut down today for snow, but my office is open. Hβs office is closed so DD is covered but I just called out. I feel guilty about it but a car accident means an ER visit and I just donβt feel comfortable risking it. Sigh. I hate winter.

TMI
I had some bloody mucous discharge this morning at 34+6. Ramona was born at 35+2. I didn't have a proper "bloody show" with her and I am currently not contracting. But I'll be phoning my OB asap when they open. I do have an appt at 2:30 anyway for my group beta swap and a cervical check.

Yogurt hopefully you can keep you baby cooking as long as possible. And its just you cervix dilating and effacing slowly. I did have bloody show each time but i was having timeable period like crampy/contractions at that point.

I think this kid has run out of room. The last few days it feels like she is going is trying to push out my stomach from the top. It is so uncomfortable while sitting at work.

I feel guilty about it but a car accident means an ER visit and I just donβt feel comfortable risking it. Sigh. I hate winter. I am working from home today for similar reasons. My husband walked my daughter to preschool, and then we usually drive together. When he got back, he said the sidewalks were so slippery that he wouldn't risk it and the roads are terrible. Usually we drive into the city together, then I leave early around 4 and make up the time for the abbreviated day at home (so I drive back and my H takes a later train). Yesterday afternoon when I went to get into the car, this jerk parked so close to the driver's side that I literally could not get in my car, I didn't fit! πππ I kind of panicked and started sobbing. I finally got in through the passenger's side, but it wasn't pretty. I'm pretty much crying daily now over a variety of things. All the emotions!!!!

Thanks everyone! Here's hoping he stays cooking a bit, but I'm not freaking out too bad because I know things were ok with my daughter, she was pretty robust for 35 weeks, etc. Thank you for the well wishes, I'll let you all know what happens.

More tmi (gross)
I think its definitely my mucous plug/bloody show. It has to be. I mean...if you've lost yours, what was it like?
More tmi
I'm having stringy mucous streaked with blood. I never had a big clump last time.
