He texted me that the boys are “stir crazy” and he “needs a break”. Lol k. I told him to throw them in the bathtub. Always a good time! I said the exact same thing. My mom went to visit them, so that was nice for him to have some company at least. Omg same! My parents usually watch the boys on Mondays but because of the snow day, they didn’t have to. They still came over for a couple of hours so DH could snow blow the driveway and my mom even took a nap with C lol. So he definitely got his break.

sarahandben108 having a cleaning service has much such a positive difference in our lives. That and the gardening service. Those are tasks H and I both dislike and it is so nice just paying someone else to do it. Cleaning service is on my someday list. Every year for Christmas my parents prepay for a deep clean for us. I'd love to have it done even a few times a year but I just can't justify it.

Good morning! We are supposed to be getting weather later today/tomorrow and (I think) the southern end of that polar vortex. Not looking forward to it. Hope everyone, especially you guys in the upper midwest, are staying safe and warm!!!
N seems to really like drinking milk out of the take n' toss cups they have at daycare, so I ordered some. I'm fine with this, because the straw sippy he likes for water is super hard to get clean so if he wants an easier to clean cup for milk, be my guest! Knock on wood, he'll be off daytime bottles by next week. Now we just need to wean in the early AM and bedtime... that bedtime one's going to be a bitch, I think.
My ILs once got us a whole-house cleaning as a Christmas present. I'd love to have regular housekeeping come, but it's totally out of the budget. Maybe when N moves up into the next room at DC I can talk H into doing one big deep clean again. God knows with N mobile we need it lol.

Ds2 is 24 lb 9.8 oz and 31.5" long. He haaaaaated his exam 🤷 now he's running around the house like a crazy kid and I'm going to enforce naptime in a moment. He fell asleep in the car so his schedule is a little off.

Apparently the hwys we're covered in ice because my commute took so much longer than yesterday when we had snow... Ugh.
I'm bracing for the cold tomorrow, but at least Saturday and Sunday we should warm up a ton!

Just two boosters. Hib and prevnar. ok thanks. Good to know. I couldn't remember if they got shots at the 15mo appt and we're leaving for FL the day after AJ's. Wanted to make sure he wouldn't be feeling icky when I'm gone

I’m looking forward to getting outside with the boys this weekend and DH already has grilling/smoker plans. Drive safe home! I’ve heard there’s a lot of black ice and they even closed part of a highway by us.

My students were at the local ski mountain today and boy was it cold. We are expecting the winter storm tonight into tomorrow. I'm wondering if it will another snow day tomorrow or a delay.
E took a pretty good face plant right on our coffee table last night. I hate how unstable they are when they are starting to walk.
Everyone who is being affected by the polar vortex, I'm sending warm vibes your way.

cakewench - we use the take and toss straw cups for B for milk but I might grab some sippy ones too. I feel like they are more likely to leak, but he can get milk out easier since there is less suction. He’s dropped then from the high chair and they didn’t explode so I’ll take it. And they are easy to wash. Does anyone use 2% vs whole milk? We gave B 2% and I felt like he did way better. It’s suppose to be high of like 10 tomorrow but I’ll take it compared to N Midwest. H is leaving for Memphis again tomorrow and I’m excited to have the bed to myself again.

I just brushed it off and was like "you're ok, move on". I'm sure the other parents thought I was a monster, but this kid falls constantly! I'm not coddling every trip 🤷♀️ I hope E is ok though! We are getting 25 below wind chills. Not as bad as a lot of people are seeing, but I'm guessing they will close schools here. Trapped inside with 4 kids... nightmare

They recommend whole milk until 2 years old because of the fat content. They need healthy fat in whole milk and other whole dairy products for their brain development.

We have never ever closed school due to negative temperatures. Indoor recess yes, but never closed school.

We have always done "it's ok. You are fine. Stand back up" with both of the kids. On the bright side, ds1 is unfazed by falling but I can never tell if he's actually hurt himself unless there is blood. And even if there's blood, he usually doesn't care. I do the same thing with ds2. 🤷 I'll offer both kids snuggles and kisses for boo boos though.

We gave DS 2% quite a bit at xmas because many family members and the hotel breakfast didn’t have WCM for his bottles. He drank it fine but we try to give him only WCM at home. DC actually told me today that licensing requires that over 12 mo aren’t supposed to have bottles so I have to transition him strictly to sippy there.

This morning in my town it was -9 and we are not in the polar vortex.

Ds1 got sent home from school with pink eye. I took him in because I had a sneaking suspicion it was caused by an ear infection and I was right. So now I'm trying to force him to take augmentin but at least I don't have to hold him down for eye drops too.
Daycare is closed tomorrow due to the wind chills, luckily my mom can take both boys so I'll be heading into work. I found out that the pediatrician and urgent cares are closed tomorrow too so I'm glad I took him tonight and avoided an ER bill!!

Like for avoiding the ER jules1614, not for the EI. And good instincts, nurse momma! I hope he feels better soon.

And by we I mean the kids. Staff is apparently going to have PD from 8-5, so that's a giant load of shit. No clue about tomorrow. They won't call anything tonight, because it's just too considerate.
