It’s almost the end of January and Groundhog Day is later this week - anyone else like that movie? It’s very quotable and one of my favs.

We had a great trip up north to see the elephants and go strawberry picking. Our resort was up in the mountains, so it got nice and “cold” (15 C) overnight, and then would warm up to 30 C by mid-day. The elephants we saw were at a refuge where they aren’t forced to work or be subject to abuse. It was wonderful to get so close to them, feed them food, and watch them play in the river. Strawberry picking was also so much fun - DS1 and DS2 kept trying to eat them as they picked! Luckily - the lady who ran the place was nice about washing them for the kids so they could eat as they picked 🤣.
We went with my friend from the USA who is still traveling around Southeast Asia with her 2yr old and husband. We were so sad to say goodbye yesterday - they are heading to another country for the next month. We might see them in Bali later in the spring though, which would be awesome.
Here is DS1 feeding an elderly elephant a banana, DS1 posing with our guide and another one of the elephants, and DS2 being cute and soaking up the attention from the strawberry farm workers. PDQ.
Poof!

duskymonkey CoachTsWife So sorry about the upset stomachs and sickness! I hope you are all feeling better. Feb will be a better month! cythe Yay for getting further along in the business set up! In terms of kids clothing - I love Carters and the Gap. I know the Gap can get pricey, but I find you can get good deals when they have extra 40% off sale. I look at second hand shops for Gap clothes too. August Blooms Happy belated anniversary! Exciting news about the new job opportunity- good luck!

Taitai the elephants look like so much fun! It feels like we didnt get a weekend this past week. Friday was supposed to be a "fun day" for H's division because they made goal early and put a bunch of nukes and Seals into the navy. Well, he had to go proctor an ASVAB while everyone was out having fun. Then on Sunday, the other guys in his office had things to do so he had to drive 2 hours to meet a future sailor and do his paperwork, then drive him to his hotel (before leaving for bootcamp) so he was basically gone doing work stuff for like 5 hours yesterday.

Taitai, you guys take the coolest vacations!! I told my H that when M gets a little older, we should take a trip to Japan or somewhere. the anime love is strong in our house. Last week M had a horrible looking reaction to one of her vaccines. I ended up taking her in to the dr just to make sure it wasn't serious. $100 later just to give ibprofen and an ice pack. a lot of M's clothes come from gap and target. i'll buy from tea when there is a good sale.

I worked 13 hrs yesterday so I’m very tired today. DD1 wanted to stay home from daycare with me so we just got finished doing some grocery shopping and she fell asleep in the car ride home so I’m letting her sleep and just chilling in the car in the driveway. I could nap too but I’ve got coffee.

We are getting ready for record lows with windchills here. Wednesday and Thursday are predicted to be around - 40° with windchill so not sure if we’ll have school.
Also H has the first game of the bball tournament tomorrow and I’m kind of hoping they lose because I’d like my husband back. I think he’s ready for the season to be done too. The only thing is the girls and I have had a routine for almost 5 months now so it will be weird to have it change up. But weird in a nice way.

We have decided to sell our house and move to an older/more established area closer to where I grew up/my parents still live. We found one we really like that is well priced and only needs a couple of minor things done. We are going to look at it on Wednesday and if we like it we are going to super quickly get our house on the market I guess 😳 We want to move before DD starts kindergarten in the fall but this is all happening so fast!!

All of your adventures look like so much fun. You should definitely watch the movie again! I love Bill Murray...maybe H and I will watch it this weekend! And yes - you get yourself out here to Southeast Asia, and we will happily welcome you to the Taitai bunch 😉. It is fun living out here, especially with all the fun travel opportunities. As with any place, there are downsides though. We sometimes miss how easy it is to get things done efficiently in the USA! Plus all the safety protocols and just general first world luxuries you all have on the other side of the Pacific 😄. But for now - we’re liking it here!

Guys. We are meeting with a mortgage specialist at our bank at 4:30 tomorrow and going to see a house at 6 😳 If we like it we are going to try to get our house on the market this weekend/Monday and would be looking at making an offer 😬🤞 It would be a less than 5 minute walk to both the elementary school and my parents house. House would be move in ready with the exception of wanting to make some changes to the master bath but we could live with it temporarily. Would all be conditional on selling our house though so trying to only be cautiously excited

School has been called off tomorrow since the high is iin the negatives. We will just hang out at the house and play, hopefully nap. I need to finish taxes and I’d like to submit them during the tiny window the US government has decided to be open because I have little faith it will stay open patst Feb. 15th or whatever 😑

It's awesome that you guys are able to do so many fantastic experiences for your boys, and I'm only a little bit jealous 😉 Hahaha - it’s so funny, because most people here are just kind of meh on elephants. It’s like going to see a horse - there are so many of them around that it’s not super exciting to the locals. But for us, it was a very neat experience. I am sure we’ll go back again once the kids are older so they can remember it (and learn about ethical treatment of elephants).

Whelp - DS1 and DH got food poisoning or something. DS1 puked like 4 times between 2 and 8am, but now he is totally fine. Running around and holding down Sprite and toast. DH is still out for the count. I just hope it’s nothing viral - DNW baby or I to get it. I think it’s food-related though, because DH and DS1 split a burrito last night, while the baby and I had Thai food. Glad I made the right choice!

Taitai your vacations always look so amazing. Most of the zoos near us have gotten rid of elephants (and rightly so) because Midwest winters are no joke and the small enclosures really aren’t fair to the animals. I hope my girls can see some one day but I hope it’s also in a respectful environment to the animals. Also 🤞you and DD2 don’t get sick and it passes quick for your H. doodlemommy so much to do is so little time! Do you think your house will sell quickly? Is the market fast in your area? We are looking to move this summer but the market in our area isn’t great so this could be a big stopping point for us. CoachTsWife is your H getting back to normal with his back?

It’s currently -44° per windchill here and the county a travel advisory so not sure we’ll even be able to make it to the library. It’s just DD2 and I up right now. She’s munching on a banana and playing while I internet and decide on breakfast.

Ugh - the air quality is projected to be so bad the next two days that the government has mandated all schools close for the rest of this week. I’m so bummed - especially since DS1 was home sick today. He is going to be so cooped up from being inside! 😩

danvers, thanks for asking. He's doing good, but still has lifting restrictions and is not supposed to lift more than 10 lbs. He can't help with DS2 very much - not that DS2 would allow it, he's become such a momma's boy. He only wants me. ALL. THE. TIME. I know I'll miss it when he's older, but I'm going a little crazy at times. It has just been a rough winter all the way around and I'm doing all daycare drop offs and pick ups. All the schools are closed today due to the sub zero temps so DH has a free day off. I had to try really hard to not be bitter about it last night because I FREAKING NEED THE DAY OFF, NOT HIM! Ugh, I know it hasn't been a picnic for him, but I'm so ready for things to be a little more equal. I had planned to take next Monday off for a long weekend since my bday is this weekend, but I had to take a day last week because DS2 was sick and I'm on the hook for days daycare is closed (or one of the boys is sick) now through May since DH missed so much work in December and January. I hate to take so many days this early in the year so I canceled my day off next Monday. I just want a day where no one needs anything from me. But Taitai is right. Our Mexico trip is coming up at the beginning of March and that is what I'm clinging to.

Guys, I am so done with my friend (some of you saw my post in GD when he was saying some suicidal things to me). Turns out this was ALL about a woman. Not just any woman, the SAME WOMAN he has been pining after for years. For years we have gone round and round with him and her. He was like 21, she was 30something. Never married, has kids. Found out she used him for money. He knows, I know, a mutual friend of all of ours knows. He still thinks maybe it's a mistake and maybe she wasn't using him even though shes not speaking to him and hasnt for months.
He paid her rent (never met her), paid for Christmas gifts for her kids, ect. All because he "loved her" and now shes ghosted him for months and yet he hangs on. He messages me almost daily about how he loves her and cant stop thinking of her even tho shes ignoring him.
I CANNOT ANYMORE. I was probably rather unkind to him, but my God.
Anyway, I needed to vent that. Thanks guys.

cythe That really sucks. I missed the thread on GD, but it sounds like your friend is delusional. It’s hard when those close to us do not allow us to help them. If it’s getting to be too irritating/aggravating for you, there’s nothing wrong with taking a break from him. Sorry again that you are dealing with this ☹️

danvers Taitai CoachTsWife @everyonestuckinside -35 Celsius today which I think is where Celsius and Fahrenheit converge aka cold AF. The weather is causing all kinds of havoc at work today, I was happy to go home and happy I’m not in management. cythe That sucks that your friend is unwilling to accept the reality of the situation. Maybe your tough talk will make him take a look at his behavior and accept the situation for what it is. I’m sorry you are going through this.

The house needed a lot more work than the pictures led us to believe. We are willing to do the work if they come down on price. My BIL flips and renovates houses (he is a contractor I guess technically) and is a licensed realtor so he is selling our house (for free) and will help us renovate what we buy (letting us use his connections and contractor pricing so we will get crazy deals). We are going to look at a couple other ones in the same area tomorrow and are working on getting our house ready to list

We were off yesterday for cold too. Snow accumulated overnight. I don’t think we’ll be off for that but they could still delay us opening for a few hours. DD2 is stuck in a must-be-with-mommy phase that is utterly exhausting. CoachTsWife mentioned it with hers too. Surely we aren’t alone? DD2 MUST be within touching distance of me if we are in the same house, preferably touching me but a distance of 6-8 inches away seems acceptable. She is fine with H if she knows I’m not home, like twhen taking DD1 to swim lessons. But heaven forbid I want a shower and she screams bloody murder the entire time (which makes for a very non-relaxing shower) despite H trying to engage her elsewhere. Anyone else’s? Please tell me this is a phase.....
