Our baby boy joined us at 10:11 PM on January 21st!
Long Story
Monday morning at 37 weeks, 3 days my water broke! It was just a bit of fluid, not a big rush, but it steadily continued each time baby or I moved. I was not having significantly more contractions than I had been having for the past two or three days. I got the older girls situated and off to my parents and spent the day waiting for things to pick up. I spent the day quietly resting and getting ready.
By 3:00 I was having irregular contractions and could feel the intensity increasing, but was not in labor at all. By 6:30 things were really picking up. Within the next hour I was really laboring. My contractions stayed further apart than I expected, but were very intense and productive. I could feel how effective the contractions were as he moved down with each one.
I labored from about 7 to 10. DH was amazing and so helpful. I loved being able to move around and change positions. My labor was really calm and quiet. When I was ready to push I pushed three or four times on hands and knees and he was born! He is strong and healthy and we are both doing well.
Immediately after birth was a bit chaotic as the placenta did not immediately follow. Fortunately we were able to resolve it fairly quickly.
This was a much different experience than either of my daughters' births. I am so happy with the decisions I made, but mostly that my beautiful baby boy is here!
