It’s going to be a cold one today. And tomorrow. And the next day. How are you spending your Friday?

The kids are watching Cars atm while I make a list of things we need from costco. We will head there a little later and grab lunch there as well since the kids love their pizza. E has been begging to “go see his fire station” so we’re going to visit H at work. After all that, we will just stay inside and keep warm!

I'm at work. SSDD.
Still waiting to hear back from the pedi. I know she left a message for the GI and is waiting for a response...but come on people! I want to get this over with already.

J seems to be feeling better. He woke up at 1:45am and was still running a fever so I gave him another dose of Tylenol and brought him into the spare room with me. He is fever free as of this morning but I feel like I got hit by a bus. Ugh.
B is at school and we are just hanging at home. I’m about to make some chili. It’s absolutely freezing here. And so windy it hurts.

I'm at work. Supposed to be off right now as I was only called in to cover for someone while they went to an appointment (we have plans this afternoon so I wouldn't have accepted the shift if it was longer), so I'm getting frustrated that they aren't back on time and haven't called to say they are running late or an estimation of how much longer they will be. We're taking the kids swimming this afternoon. I never get to do it while DH is away because C likes playing and jumping and H is too small to do stuff on his own but wants to copy C, so we need both of us. Hopefully by next year H will be more reasonable and C will be a stronger swimmer and I'll be more able to do it solo. After that we're going to my sister's for birthday supper for my mom. I still don't have her a gift because it's hard to come ip with something so soon after Christmas. But her actual birthday isn't for a few days so I'll figure something out and give it to her privately.

L is in better spirits, ate all his breakfast! He went to bed early because no nap yesterday and then was up at 1am-2:30. I still got sleep. Was afraid I was going to throw up on him but no puking for me. I am feel semi-normal this AM. It's flurrying here which makes me nervous as my driveway is an ice skating rink ATM. FFFC: I always see ATM as america's next top model. I know it's missing the N but still! LOL L is clingy yesterday and today and with me wanting to make sure I can easily get to the bathroom, I'm feeling bad that I'm not all, it's ok to hang all over me! Does everyone's kids love music? L doesn't seem to notice/ care for it. I'll have it on in the background (instead of having the TV on in the background) and I've tried kids channels, regular pop, soundtracks, DH listens to rock or alternative (whatever it's called) and nothing. We dance, I do finger songs, etc. still no interest! This comes from a friend being happy that her son has moved away from the Thomas soundtrack and baby shark to the Trolls soundtrack. tgrimes, I hope you get answers before the weekend. waitwhat, I'm sorry for the sickness. danib, I hope CW comes back soon!

We are getting a sleeper sofa delivered today. We don’t have an extra bed in the house so I’m excited we finally will have a semi dedicated space for guests (or me when H is snoring). It will go in H’s office. That’s my excitement for today.

Cheshie6 J LOVES music. He’s always dancing and singing along if he knows the words. B could care less. He only pretends to care when he sees J getting into it.

Hi ladies. I'm exhausted today. I have one more meeting at 4 then hopefully I can get home at a decent time and not have to work this weekend. This issue is starting to wind down for me at least.
My brother wants me to go out for his birthday tonight but I'm really struggling to stay awake right now. We'll see how tonight goes.
Also 2 people at work asked if we're planning on having a second kid. First, don't ask me but also could you have waited a few weeks?

sophiegrace anyone else We all know B is allergic to eggs, peanuts, and dairy. Well, tonight I made chili and B broke out all over his face in these weird red splotches. He said they are itchy. They look a little different than normal hives but something is giving him a reaction. Any thoughts? Obviously I didn’t put cheese or sour cream in his and the only other ingredients in it are ground beef, peppers, onions, tomatoes, beef broth, spices (chili powder, garlic powder, cumin). It’s keto chili so no beans. Are any of those ingredients correlated to the allergies he currently has? I’m scratching my head scrambling through all the labels to check if there is hidden dairy or eggs or something. I plan to ask the allergist but we don’t go back until July. The last time I made this he broke out slightly but I used hot chili powder and figured maybe it was too spicy and his skin was just sensitive to the heat. ETA kleigh I’m tagging you because IIRC you have a night shade allergy? Maybe it’s something I need them to test.

waitwhat I know nothing but I’d call to move the appt up. You wouldn’t think he’d be allergic to anything in those ingredients. But I’d want to figure it out!

Late to the -hooray it's Friday- party. It was a busy news day politically so I was mostly occupied trying to catch up on the breaking news in between playing with and/reading to A.
It's Robbie Burns night so we're doing bangers and mash and peas with caramelized onion gravy for dinner. And cider to drink of course. I think we're going to watch a new to us rom-com (we never watch those since it's not really my taste but Burns was alllllll about the love stories) called Made of Honor starring Patrick Dempsey which takes place in NY and Scotland. Hoping it doesn't suck.

Ughh I’m so sorry waitwhat. I mean come onnnnn these food allergies just suck. Does he eat tomatoes any other time? I’m going to guess just the chili pepper in the chili seasoning and hope it’s not an entire nightshade allergy because you have enough to watch out for. I did find this: Although a peanut allergy doesn’t lead to an allergic response to spices, you or your child can also be allergic to these ingredients. Spice allergies are rare, but do exist. The most common culprits include caraway, coriander, fennel, mustard, paprika and saffron. This type of allergy happens more often in people with a pre-existing allergy to birch or mugwort.

He doesn’t usually eat tomatoes so it’s possible it’s that. Or the chili powder because that was a huge ingredient in the chili. Either way I’m soooooo sick of this. Especially because he’s at the age where he recognizes that his brother eats stuff that he can’t and it breaks my heart to tell him no.

Cheshie6 M was slow to it, but is now obsessed with music. She dances 24/7 so I think maybe that’s why? Normally it’s just some quick feet or twirling, but she just recently got very serious about the beauty and the beast dance including starting the song from the landing of the staircase to making H or I do the curtsy/bow with her and dipping her at the appropriate moment. The whole house has to stop for this performance when the song comes on.

Cheshie6 O was never into music or dancing until the last year. E has always loved music and dancing. It’s weird how different kids can be. waitwhat not an allergy but O was always sensitive to tomatoes. He would break out in a facial rash if he had too much which would last a few days to a week. So we were then started using a prescription cream to minimize it when it appeared. This lasted until he was 3ish? and now he has no issues with them.

Sorry I’m late waitwhat +1 I’m gonna say tomatoes. As a kid I could tolerate fresh tomato or ketchup but would break out after things like sauce and esp stewed tomatoes. And my current dx is that “food dependent exercise induced” allergy/anaphylaxis. At the time of my dx in Jan 2013, my allergist said possibly all foods. But in talking to you guys we determined the three times it happened I had had nightshades - tomatoes twice and cooked bell peppers once. Since avoiding nightshades before/after any strenuous activity, I haven’t had another episode since (6 years!). I’ve never had an issue with other foods and working out so I think it is nightshades. Tomatoes is the biggest culprit!
