What are you packing for you, for baby? Does your hospital have any requirements?
Mine has a couple odd ones I’ve never had at my old hospital: 2 receiving blankets and a thick car blanket. Ooookie dokie. I’m used to the nurse leaving me a fat stack of receiving blankets to use as needed. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

In my amazon cart right now I have:
- wire free support bras - giant black underwear with a soft elastic waist - depends maximum absorbency underwear - always maxi pads (you guys get mesh undies and pads in the states eh? Lucky. IME we don’t get those here and the pads they give could float you home down a river) - mam pacis
My list of stuff I have to pack: - breast pads - a manual pump and milk collection bottle - flip flops wrapped in a grocery bag - my black robe - toothbrush, toothpaste, deodorant, nail clippers, tweezers (random chin hairs have no sense of decency on when to fuck off), lip chap, hair ties -will add makeup bag/hair brush/blow dryer/phone charger on the way out the door - DSLR camera, charged and memory space checked (they don’t allow cell phones in the OR for pics) - all the black leggings and soft pants I own - ditto for tank tops, comfy shirts - an abdominal binder
For baby: - 4 kimono wrap style onesies (I like these better when they have umbilical stumps) - 4 pants - socks, hats - 2 sleepers - one pair scratch mitts - 2 receiving blankets and one car blanket - the car seat shower cap style cover thingie
I overpack because I always end up having to stay longer than the average person, c’est la vie. I’m just going to keep adding to this list as I think of things so I don’t lose it lol.

I packed so much last time and used basically nothing. I've started a note on my phone but need to actually think about it.
Me: Soft loose lounge pants Nursing tanks Soft cardigan(s) Granny panties Chapstick ON flip flops Shampoo/Cond/Body wash Deodorant Toothbrush/paste Hairbrush and hair ties Bath towel (I found the ones last time they provided were too small and not soft) Pillow with patterned case Phone charger
Baby: Few sleepers 2-3 cute onesies Going home outfit Socks Boppy
The hospital provides pretty much everything else. I didn't think I was allowed to change E's clothes last time so she hung out in the half shirt and Halo swaddle they provided the whole time, aside from the few times I "snuck" an outfit on her for pictures 😂 I'm not sure why I thought that was a rule. I just know I need my own pillow and clothes to change into asap to feel like a human. I'm sure I'm forgetting something(s) though so I'm glad you started this thread!

I'm just in here taking notes.
I was told they don't allow pumps, you have to use one of theirs. But I have a hospital tour on 3/2, so I'm going to confirm then.

Hmmm I have to start thinking about this. For sure:
Cell phone charger Contacts case/solution/glasses Toothbrush/toothpaste Travel shampoo & conditioner Undies Slippers Lounge pants & a loose button up (I ditched the hospital gown ASAP) Sleepers and a hat for baby Outfit for hospital pictures Boppy (maybe. Breastfeeding is still undecided) Hairbrush
That’s all I can think of. I’m sure I’ll be back with more.

I relied on a lot of stuff provided by the hospital, but I did bring travel toiletries and my makeup. I didn't mind the hospital gown at all, and it made it easy to try to BF/be checked by nurses. I did bring a pair of soft pants to wear home, and a pillow for my H.
One other thing I was glad we had: a nice/pretty swaddling blanket. My hospital has a photographer come in the day or 2 after delivery, and we wrapped DD up in it. The photos were only like $100 and included maybe 15-20 images and all the rights to print. We never did do any other newborn pics, because they can be $$$. I was really happy with how they turned out. This may be hospital specific.

Gosh I feel like such a FTM reading your guys’ responses I feel overwhelmed. 1. I did not realize hospitals have requirements. Mind blown but I don’t get out much lol.
I’ll pack pajamas for myself some comfy clothes in general the nursing bra I used with DD until my boobs sort their lives out and I go get new ones. Toothbrush deodorant basically all of the stuff for a typical hotel stay. Baby I’ll pack a couple outfits some blankets... I think that’s it. Big sister gift will be added this go around.

But I have a hospital tour on 3/2, so I'm going to confirm then. at my hospital the LC offered a hand pump and all kinds of other stuff I said yes then was like when does she come take it back? Silly question clearly so I left with some nice extras.

I had never heard of hospitals having requirements either, I don't remember anything like that from last time. I've been contemplating doing a tour of the maternity floor again just to be informed (I think it's jacks every week that says 'STM who remembers nothing about having a baby' in the check ins? I feel like that too 😂) but also to make sure there's nothing like that that I need to know that's changed!

If they'll let you use one of theirs I totally would, because hospital grade ones are awesome I've heard. But I know some people like to bring their own so they can have assistance figuring out how to use it if needed. I didn't pump at all in the hospital with E and don't plan on it this time either unless there's a reason to medically though. I just really hate to pump, though too 😂

One thing not mentioned is a white noise machine. Hospitals are sooo loud. pambee Yes, I seriously remember very little. I do remember getting in trouble for walking out of my room while holding baby instead of pushing around our loud squeaky bassinet thing.

I’ll be pumping exclusively since my kid will be going to daycare at 6 weeks and taking a bottle is required. Plus the thought of being solely responsible for feeding him is a LOLOLOLOL No for me. So imma need to suck it up and learn to love the thing.

I just use my phone app, and it helps me more than baby probably! But it was also very soothing for D1 during the week she was stuck in the Billie bed.

pambee genius to specifically bring a patterned pillowcase. Genius. Idk what’s up with my hospital having those random blanket requirements, I have never encountered anything like it. I am half wondering if they just haven’t updated their materials in years (it’s a scanned in pamphlet lol) so maybe it’s weird and out of date.

I haven’t started packing mine this time, but trying to remember what I brought last time.
Pjs Comfortable pants and shirts. I ended up wearing hospital gown the whole time so just needed clothes for going home. Shampoo/conditioner ( I wasn’t even sure if I would shower, but DD pooped on me so much during skin to skin right after she was born I had to shower within an hour of having her because meconium stuck to me) Face wash Toothbrush/toothpaste Dry shampoo Phone charger Camera (mostly used phone though) Hair ties Chapstick Snacks Water bottle Pillow (need my own pillow)
We didn’t bring much for baby. For security they want them to stay in hospital clothes and blankets. I think I brought two outfits. Our hospital only provided size 1 diapers and DD could have fit in preemie so I might bring some newborns this time and being the size 1s home.
We got a mini dohm noise machine when DD was little so I will bring that this time.

I haven’t even thought of this 🤦🏻♀️ I will be making a list based off all of this. I always do high waisted yoga pants, nursing tank, and then a robe or cardigan after the first day. I just feel better in clothes. However I need new ones because like pambee mine are not suitable for the hospital. Hah I also like the bath towel suggestion!

Has anyone used nursing/ pumping dresses like this? YUNAR Ladies Elastic Nursing Breastfeeding Dress (Striped Short Sleeves, S) www.amazon.com/dp/B07DL17BL4/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_i_hAntCbPWNKBMVNC in mid April should be warm, and I basically live in dresses. I figured this might be easy for the birthing center and when we get home? But maybe the support of yoga pants is better?

I definitely wore tops like this while pumping and nursing, but I also just wore a lot of stretchy and flowy tops. Ftr, I never used a cover to nurse, I was discreet but often just pulled my top up or down slightly as needed. When I pumped I usually had more privacy (or didn't care, because I was at home, lol) so depending on your comfort level and where you'll be pumping at work, a dress like that would be great. Even though I was in a locked private room, I would have felt weird having to basically sit naked/exposed while pumping during the short time I went back to work, lol. But I know some work places have shared lactation rooms where clothes like this definitely come in handy.

Thankfully I work from home, but I’m mainly concerned with being covered in the hospital and when my in laws come to visit - which will probably be within days of his birth when I’m still getting used to a pumping schedule. I’ve got a slew of loose, can go out or chill on the couch dresses, but I apparently like to channel Meghan Markle because they’re all goddamn boatnecks lol.
