I can't reach State Farm at all. I've called every phone number for them on the whole Internet. Can I just call an emergency plumber and then give them the invoice? (Sorry, I know this isn't on topic but I've got dishes to wash, kids to bathe, and I can't turn on the water too the house)

Shutdown update: McConnell to put both a clean CR and Trump's compromise bill to a vote. The only way McConnell lets that happen is if he knows there aren’t 60 votes for a short CR, right? Otherwise it would go to Trump who would veto and be livid with McConnell...

Our realtor threw it in our contract when we were buying the house this year. Might still be good if you do. I'm so sorry you have all this crap happening.

Serious question. How do I go about finding a new job? I’ve been with my agency 13 years. What websites are companies using to post jobs now?

We weren't offered one (major major seller's market). We didn't go looking for one bc we haff horrible experiences with the warranty company in asshole landlord's house

When I do that and express my frustration, companies are bending over backwards to get in touch with you. Have you been able to get hold of your own agent yet if not the claims folks? I'm concerned that you'll want to have the insurance company adjustor come out ASAP to review cause of damage and arrange for any remediation possible. If you do get your own plumber, I think you'll want him to document cause of whatever caused the flood, give you the original pipe if something needs to be replaced, etc. A friend just had a broken kitchen pipe and it flooded her kitchen and lower cabinets, as well as causing major damage to the unit below her. The plumber who came out gave her all sorts of documents and the broken pipe to give to, oh, it was State Farm, now that I think of it. State Farm also arranged for ServPro to come out with the giant fans, etc. She still had to replace the kitchen floor and cabinets, lots of painting of baseboards, etc. Hope your damage is far more easily and less expensively repaired.

If any one cares, it bv would appear that having your furnace die on a 13° day WILL freeze your pipes. We were running water and flushing toilets, etc. But there's clearly a burst pipe behind our rear exterior wall. From outside, it sounds like a shower is running

donnamoss Indeed.com is a big one around here. I hate that you have to look or feel like you should. The government is going to lose so many good people due to this nonsense.

Serious question. How do I go about finding a new job? I’ve been with my agency 13 years. What websites are companies using to post jobs now? In both my last two job searches LinkedIn has been great. I had been at my old company for 15 years and definitely looked at what people who left before me were doing now because I felt like I could get those jobs. I paid for the premium service last time and this time I was more casually looking so I didn’t. I messaged people I knew at companies I thought seemed interesting and asked to set up a phone call or in person meeting. I would ask them a lot about their experience and if they had any leads. At worst it was a catch up and a lot of times I learned of a good lead. Indeed is also a good site. And I hear the same ads DC hears for ziprecruiter. Good luck, friend.

donnamoss I don’t blame you for looking. I’ve been lucky this time that my agency was funded. I’m really worried about nextime. It’s not fair to treat employees like this. Feds get crapped on so much.

donnamoss I think LinkedIn would be a good place to look. I have only job hunted within the same organization but H found LI helpful and also got contacted frequently by recruiters. Not sure how specific your field is, but some have specific websites. H looked a lot at a website specifically for non profit jobs.

Please tell me there is some demo you can help with to get some frustration out. That is a lot to handle all at once.
