1. Bernie sanders needs to be told to shut up by someone he respects. not sure who that could be.
2. If in 3 weeks, they go into shut down mode again, I'd imaging that the furloughed employees will have even less interest in going to work and not getting paid. They know that if the air traffic controllers stay home, the airports shut down and IRS employees don't show to work and the president and republicans give in. so I'd imagine it would take way less than 30 days for the employees would get frustrated and just stay home, call in sick. Can you imagine if the secret service called out sick? Bet that would break any govt shut down. The people have way more power than they realize.

Roger Stone’s lawyer wrote a book and this saint live-tweeted her experience reading it:
It’s... something.

This is amazing. This woman needs an award of some sort. Or just make her president.

I'm into this. We're very big on recycling so this sounds great. My FIL only buy Byrne Dairy milk in glass containers that he returns when finished. They get cleaned and refilled. His old man ways are new and hip again, lol.

His old man ways are new and hip again, lol. Back in the day (50/60's), they also had cloth diaper services like this - they'd drop off a bundle of diapers and pick up the old to wash and sanitize. Very common, I was told. I think such services still exist, but not as prevalent a model as they were.

It was more recent than that. My mom used that service with me in the early 80s. It was more economical than disposable at the time but probably not much after that. Then we were sold a heap of garbage that our lives are better with cheap plastic. Full disclosure I used disposable 85% of the time but I regret it.

And I suppose once cloth diapers became popular again, it was hard to develop a business model for the delivery service to work again. I think disposables certainly have a place, and I really do get why everyone loved them when they came out. And, I have to admit, lugging glass milk bottles around is a great work out - makes me miss plastic at times!

We have a brand of milk at the fancy kroger where pay a deposit and you return the glass bottle for refill.
I used cloth diaper service with both boys. So late 90s early 2000. It was $10 or 12 for 144 newborn diapers depending on if you got their covers or not.

For cloth diapers...In the 50s/60s my grandma washed hers by hand, my mom used a service in the 80s, They have plenty of services now- I know of some where you buy your own and they wash for you, or where they own the diapers and wash them. They really weren’t more economical than disposables though. It was the most affordable option for me to buy my own diapers (using coupons) and then handle the laundry myself. Amazingly, it’s pretty difficult to sell them now. When I was buying everyone told me I’d be able to sell them easily but the amount of money I’d make is so low I haven’t tried.

We used one with DD and then went it alone for DS once I was more comfortable with them and all things newborn. ETA: and once we had our own house. I did not want to do cloth diaper laundry in a duplex-shared laundry situation.

My grandma buys milk in regular jugs and pours it into the glass ones to keep in the fridge. Which is the least environmentally-friendly option.

My mom used to buy milk in the glass jars in the 90s. I need to find that option as it holds good memories for me. I already pay $5 for a half gallon of organic milk in the carton. 😳
My mom was insistent that plastic jugs for milk were the devil my whole life so I’ve never bought anything but the cartons. Growing up with hippies leaves some marks. 🤣

See these are the things that we could return to to make our country great again. Not the racism and sexism. Just bring back the milk and diaper delivery services. Job creation!

I think because she likes the glass jugs from when she was a farm kid. But my grandpa lives for grocery sales and would never pay glass bottle milk prices.

We get milk delivered in glass jars from a local dairy. When we were getting two gallons of whole milk a week it was about $50 a month I think.

I use disposable diapers and have never once regretted it. Cloth diapering is not for me or my family, but I love it for those who do. I’m happy we have options.
I am very intrigued by the reuasable milk container situation though, and would love to do something like that if it’s available in my area.

It does! We have a friend who used a cloth diaper service. I looked into a local service before DD but decided to just own our own CDs and launder them. The service was more expensive and I didn’t like that they only picked up once a week...that’s a lot of diapers to store. We still use disposable overnight and at times when we travel.
