Thanks for the grace, ladies. I'm not going to lie- it's been a day. But I really should know better. **kicks self for making assumptions** I looked him up because of the comments here as I didn’t know him either and gave myself a nice history lesson, so it was worth it. He seems like a great man. Learn something new every day, right? (Unless your name ends with rump than you actually get dumber every day)

Rachel Maddow just blogged about this
I understand the frustration but really Mitch could have a vote right this minute to reopen the gov't. With the same bill that passed by voice vote and seems to be pretty veto proof.
Totally get it, and I get the angle Trump was trying to work and why they said no to attending. I still don’t think it was the best move. Every mainstream news outlet has covered it as “Dems declined”...and McConnell continues to do nothing. I’m asking honestly—how long do they think people can go without income? Right now, I’m telling my team to go ahead and start planning for an additional missed check...but realistically I think this could go on an additional 4-6 weeks. That’s so scary. I am really sorry you and your team are being used as pawns (as well as every other fed) I really hope by the end of the week we’ve get enough pressure on Congress they act.

How very dare you...not having every member of the House memorized. Here’s a fun fact: he beat Obama when Obama tried to challenge him for his House seat. He's also 72, so I'm wondering if he's starting his fairwell tour where he finishes out in a Blaze of glory for the things he's passionate about.

I don’t know if anyone is up for discussing this, but the DNC dropped its sponsorship of the women’s march over the leaders remarks on The View, which is being categorized as refusing to denounce Farrakhan and his anti semitic remarks.

I’m feeling the same way. I’m pretty sure we are going to miss the next paycheck. And really, how long do we hold out for? At some point many are going to be looking for other jobs or some sort of income. Which means the government could lose a lot of really good talent. People can’t go months without being paid. And there really is no end in sight. We’re doing ok now but once I miss a second paycheck and the mortgage gets paid, it’s not going to be pretty.

On this year’s docket- Marijuana Red flag law Early voting and adjusting the time Campaign reform Solidifying ACA Authorizing sports betting Union protections Cut taxes for middle class Rent regulation reforms How I see these falling with this SCOTUS: Marijuana - Support for the science that Marijuana doesn't cause adverse heal effects but will still hold the ban because they aren't getting a cut of big business and its a step to far to letting the drugs win. Red flag law - Will support this law since many of their Red voters are in affected areas. Early voting and adjusting the time - Early voting will be allowed to get Red votes in quicker but will not adjust the time because working inner city people don't need extra time to vote. Campaign reform - Pffft Solidifying ACA - I predict a major hit here from your good friend Kavanuagh and possibly Gorsich but they don't have the required mandate here any more so it it will be harder to make their case. Authorizing sports betting - They will approve this, because how is the NFL not gonna help push this into working. Union protections - This could go either way since many supporters are in a union but that could cause a problem for their rich business ower friends. Cut taxes for middle class - NOPE! That doesn't help rural Americans. They have had their time. Rent regulation reforms - This can go either way. Most people who pay rent are in Urban areas and that isn't the base of the current leaning right court. All I can say is that we will really see the values and ethics of the new members of the court.

This shutdown has gone on too long. And shit's starting to roll downhill, I could scream. A friend of mine and her husband run a successful local photography business; they had a client contact them yesterday to cancel wedding coverage. The couple is canceling their wedding and going to the courthouse instead.
They're interfering with people's lives and their livelihoods and they just don't care.
