I remember with C, I said to my OB, "can I eat sushi?" He started laughing and said "what do you think women in Japan eat while they're pregnant?" Fair enough, Doc. I don't ever eat low quality sushi, pregnant or not, so I feel okay with where I'm getting it from. Plus all sushi in the US is flash frozen. I craved a lot of sushi during my first pregnancy so I def researched it.

I drank wine but didn’t eat lunch meat and cooked sushi. Now I'm kinda laughing at myself about it. Like, you'll drink ALCOHOL while pregnant but won't have a piece of sushi from a reputable place?

We all have weird lines. Like I said, I puked every day of my first pregnancy and wouldn't take meds, wouldn't have a glass of wine. But raw fish? Sure! Every day!

I have a coworker right now who is so scared to do anything. She thinks a bath will hurt the baby. Meanwhile she's dying of hip pain and she still have about 12 weeks to go. I'm like Girl, get in the tub! Right? With C towards the end, I basically lived in the bath tub every day. I mean, don't hop in a hot tub but if she's in pain, soak! I got into the hot tub a couple times while pregnant with S. My baths are usually about that warm so shruggy guy.

He said if soft cheeses and sushi were 100% bad there would be a heck of a lot more sick babies on Japan and France!

I'm only a sancimommy to myself, because I'm an anxious mess. I didn't drink one sip, hardly any painkillers even though I could hardly walk after 18 weeks because of the pain in my hips/back, no red meat, no tuna etc etc. I caved once and had a piece of salmon sushi. One of dd ears is smaller then the other (it looks normal, but the difference is significant when you compare the two) there's a nagging thought that I caused it but eating that sushi... Omg, Nam. That made me laugh. With the amount of sushi I eat while pregnant, my kids should all have elf ears. I promise it wasn't the piece of sushi. I know 😱. I guess it's just mom guilt, my ob told me it was okay, as long as it was from a place I knew and had eaten before☺️.

When I repeated his instructions to my specialist, she said the only incident she's ever had from cheese was cheese from a deli in NJ in the early 90's, so she agreed. In between ordering me to drink a glass of wine or champagne and eat cheese in Paris, I was a pretty happy girl.

I was in Paris for three whole weeks while pregnant with ds and I just found out I was pregnant with dd the next time we went. I did not eat all the cheese and drank all the wind 😕.

I told her and she was not bothered at all. She said it was fine and she sees it on lots of pregnant ladies. So awkward. Lol. Omg, it took me a minute to think of what the "issue" was! I'm sure they've seen it before, lol. **raises hand** I'll try it at a wine-tasting but that's about it. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk I'm loling at this. I think you quoted the wrong thing. It took me a few seconds to realize you were probably talking about Chardonnay. I'm sure you don't want to try what Cher was talking about...

I ate sushi during both pregnancies but I was more careful about tuna because of the mercury. So I often skipped that for salmon. I also had small amounts of wine during both pregnancies, ate soft cheese and the occasional cold cut. Whoops.
