H had to FaceTime us at lunchtime and “sit” in his seat in order for M to eat today.

I tasked H with one thing for the house - quoting insurance. He is texting me asking me to make the selections on coverage amounts, etc. so I may as well be doing it.

Well I took Christmas down as much as I can. H can do the rest. It's so empty but it'll be nice to have a clean slate to start decorating.

We remembered yesterday that we got tickets to a minor league hockey game tonight because our nephew is playing during intermission. We're all getting dinner tonight then watching the game. C's first hockey game! Actually first sporting event period. I'm curious how he'll do.

It was a busy work day for me. The kids asked if we could eat dinner on the couch and I didnt really feel like arguing, so here we are. They both ate everything on there plates and asked for seconds on corn! Maybe we should eat on the couch more often if that’s all it takes 🤷🏻♀️

I think I broke my toe, but H came home looking like he’s about to fall over so I don’t want to complain to him. So, uh, I’m complain to y’all instead. Many sorries. I think I’m just going to tape it up and hope it stops hurting soon. It’s so annoying.

I cannot imagine the strength it must have taken to pull that energy from somewhere to do that. M came out fist first and it messed up her position in the birth canal. Once they figured out why she wasn’t progressing downwards they started mentioning forceps and the vacuum. At that point I believed I summoned your “get mad” advice and she was out not long afterwards. Maybe I should do that from the beginning this time. Imagine delicate opening flowers, then light those MFers on fire.

sophiegrace starbuck yeah DS1 took 5 hours and a vacuum to get out. He was so high and I really wasn’t feeling much pressure so I should have waited but didn’t know any better at the time. The nurses really seemed to think I should be having pushing urges after hours of being at a 10 and trying to labor down, so eventually I was like “okay yeah I guess I feel something?” I had no clue what an actual pushing urge feels like. D was so much easier in every way even though she was sunny side up (about 40 minutes and some very intense back labor/ring of fire). This little guy literally almost slid right out without any work or pain. It’s due to many things: 1) third kid obv so my body stretched more easily, 2) I really let him come down and worked through some intense pressure feelings to avoid starting too soon, 3) he’s 2 lbs smaller than my others (and has a normal-sized head unlike his big brother), and 4) just lucky this time? I mean honestly he could have come out in one push but the OB was like “please try to do small pushes and take it slowly” lol so we stretched it out over 3 contractions. I still tore like a MF (he too was sunny side up) but definitely prefer this to the 5 hour model (where I also tore).

Oh wow ladies! I pushed for 1 hour on C, which I felt like was really good. H, of course was part way out before they finally listened to me, so when they finally let me push (after holding him there for way too long) he was out in seconds.

When Lilah was born, they called the dr in super fast because I deliver fast. Lillian was 15 minutes of pushing, Lilah was 4 minutes. Yes, sophiegrace, I skipped the flower opening and just pushed with everything I had screaming at them to gtfo. I'm super impressed with all of y'all pushing for so long. Especially hours on end. So much strength.

I pushed for about 5 hours with M but she had shoulder dystocia. With H, the dr wanted me to labor as long as possible so he'd be further down the birth canal on his own before I started pushing, just in case it happened again. After the fiasco with the epidural, she wanted to let it kick in for a bit and then called for the team to come down. But H made it out in 4 pushes before they even got there.

I’m so jealous of all you short pushers. I pushed with B for 6 hours but he was stuck (probably because he was almost 10 lbs). They mentioned forceps and I freaked. So once I spiked a fever and my water had been broken for almost 24 hours, we opted for a C section. Thinking back now, I never really felt like he was close at all to coming out even though the nurses could see his hair. I just never felt him down there.

I have no idea how long I pushed with either kid. It wasn't long at all, maybe only a few minutes. So, 2 or 3 pushes each?

Labor was sort of a blur to me but I think I pushed for about 2 hours. I always get annoyed when I think about it all. They told me that I would "just know" when I was ready to push because I'll feel the pressure but when I mentioned to the nurse that I sort of feel pressure, she said if I wasn't sure then it probably wasn't it. They did not want to keep checking me since my water had broken the night before and they were worried about introducing an infection. I could not get comfortable though and just flipped back and forth and tried to sleep it off until I finally broke down and asked for a c-section. That's when they checked and saw his head just there. I don't know how I managed to push for so long after that.

goldenlove did they not have a monitor on your belly? I had one on the whole time. They said if I couldn't feel it due to the epidural we could see contractions on the monitor and they could just tell me to push based on that.

So induction to pushing lasting about 30 hours. Then pushing evolved over about 3 hours but I didn’t spend the whole time pushing.
I started pushing around midnight+- and AB progressed quickly, I’d say 5-6 pushes and he crowned and it was about 12:30am. It was at that point they made me stop, pulled H out to get OR scrubs on, alerted the whole other team of OBs/NICU/Pedis to be in OR, and then wheeled me down the cold bright hall of lights into the OR. You know, people passing us in the hall, standing up from the mess desk to get a good look at me, wishing me luck, etc. While my baby’s head is at the top of my vagina.
Once there they tried to get me to help myself onto the OR table. With ABs head right there and swollen to the gills (for most of my labor they had those circulation cuffs or whatever they are on my ankles). Um no? I very very literally couldn’t move so several of them had to lift me onto the table.
I was also parched AF but at this point they wouldn’t let me have anything else, water, popsicles, etc in case they needed to do eCsection.
And all of this obvi affected my mental state and I ‘couldn’t’ push, let alone push effectively. After close to an hour (so around 1:30-1:45am?) of “trying” the other OBs wanted my OB to call it, plus I my temp had been rising since about 10pm bc of my water being broken. My OB has almost a deflated look on his face and turned to the nurse who has been with me that night and said “I don’t know what’s going on” and she kind of had that “I have no clue!” look on her face.
He told someone to give me ice chips and they did it very quickly. As I was chewing on my ice they were all talking.
Like 15 mins later he came up by my head and rubbed my head for a few minutes and said, “you can do this, you’re already doing this” and he grabbed my hand and put my hand on ABs fuzzy little head. I dug deep down inside and gave two good screaming pushes and he was out, with his hand on his ginormous head. 2:53am.
Then they tried to flip AV but kept losing her heart rate and she was bouncing around like crazy in there so he just reached up on in there and grabbed AVs legs and pulled her out legs first. It was 3 minutes later.
The placentas took a while but I as my EPI back and my babies here so who cares.

Like I said it was all a blur so I don't remember the details of what was happening. I'm sure the contractions getting more intense was probably when my back pain was getting worse and maybe it wasn't as long as it was in my head. It was a long ass day.

I just meant in reference to them telling you that you would just know, as I was pretty much told the opposite, that if I didn't know they could just tell me based on the monitor. Not that it makes a difference now, just that they should have helped you more.

After reading all of these pushing times of the successful vaginal deliveries you all have had I’m pretty disgusted by my hospital. You have two hours to push before c section prep starts. It’s their hard line policy. And makes NO sense.
