We went to a mall an hour away saturday and J rode the train. It was one withiut tracks and went around the whole mall. He thiught he was hot stuff lol. He was waving like a maniac. Dh and i rode too of course. It was fun and you got a free ice cream with your ticket.
J is feeling better but still has that crappy cough. Question, do you wake your child up ar a certain time every morning? J has always been up by 6 so ive never had this problem but satirday and sunday he slept until 7 and this morning i woke him at 630 because he has an appointment.

We wake noah up around 8:30. Sometimes closer to 9 if he had a shit night sleep and a lot of wake ups. He does well on a set schedule so if we let him sleep too late then naptime gets messed up which messes up bedtime, so we try to stick to 8:30ish.
That train ride sounds like fun for J!
We tried to have Noah ride a train at the zoo in the fall. Dh went with him and he screamed the entire time. Like bloody murder. I probably should have ridden with him bc he is a clingasaurus Rex with me but I got some funny pictures. And laughed a lot bc Iβm the worst.
Iβm going to repost my post from last weeks thread here!

Hey guys. So my dh has a conference in New Mexico next week and DS (16mo) and I are going to join him for the trip. Weβll be hotel living from this Saturday til the following Sunday. Iβve never stayed in a hotel that long with DS and Iβm starting to get nervous about the food situation. Calm me down / help me prepare?
The hotel has a mini fridge and microwave but no kitchen/stove. I know I can buy his milk and yogurt and fruits there, will probably just be doing frequent store trips bc I assume the fridge is pretty small. And for meals weβll be eating out a lot. But I figure for breakfast I could make him his oatmeal and then nuke it in the microwave right? You can cook oatmeal that way too, not just ok the stovetop? I just get nervous bc weβve never really ordered him restaurant food before- weβve always taken his food from home when weβve eaten out. Weβve had him taste restaurant food and fed him some of it, so heβs not a stranger to it- ie, he looooves bbq food haha but I get nervous of the idea of him solely relying on restaurant food and not having a back up meal at home.
So I can just amazon ship packages of diapers and snacks to the hotel, right? Do I give the hotel a heads up? Do I include my room number on the amazon delivery address?
Also- how should I tackle lunch and dinner time when weβll be flying during that time? Buy in airport and feed on plane I guess??

addymac, I never go away so I don't know the hotel life with kiddos. Like king26 said, instant oatmeal is good. Does he eat scrambled eggs? you can also do that in the microwave, they came out pretty fluffy. The restaurant food wouldn't worry me too much but M is a pretty good eater. I usually just give her some of whatever I have ordered. You could plan on doing that and then does he do pouches at all? I always bring them as backup.

Thanks guys!! I didnβt know that about eggs haha. Will try it. Ns pretty good at trying and eating most food so I think Iβm just bizarrely anxious at the idea of having no back up solid food. But Iβll go ham on pouches on amazon haha π

Voila, fold the cheese in and mash up and its actually pretty yummy and easy.

addymac We stayed in a hotel for a few days over Thanksgiving, and I brought pouches to supplement if he wouldn't eat, but there's usually something at the restaurant if he likes table foods. You can definitely do oatmeal in the microwave. It's easier if you get the little pouch you tear open, pour into the cup or bowl and then add water and microwave. We found bringing a few familiar toys helped the kids feel more in their routine. I didn't bring any toys once and ds1 was so sad and said he was homesick for his toys, lol. Also, if you use a noise machine, bringing it along really helps.

We also bring a few toys just so he has something to play woth from home and a familiar book or 2.

We have done this and yes you can microwave most things just watch the temp. I also had stuff delivered to the hotel. If you do not have a room number just let the front desk know a day ahead to expect a package for you. I have had this done with other things. I have never flown with the kids just road trips so not sure about airport food. You may want to see if your hotel has a breakfast room. You can poach things from there for him to snack on as you are running around. Our biggest issue at conferences is finding a place for the kids to run around. Some hotels and conferences offer babysitters. I would take a break if you can ...

Itβll be fine addymac. Iβd definitely think of some leftovers from dinners and lunches that heβll eat. I wish A liked pouches. He just squirts it all out at once. Lol hope you have a fun trip!

I did not bring D1 to the dentist till like 2.5. I have heard all different advice from 1-3 years old.
M has an ear infection and they said likely bronchiolitis, poor thing. D1 has been coughing and now has a temp. FML

I think we took T to the dentist somewhere between 18 months and 2 years. But, one of her top front teeth didnβt move for like 6+ months. Doctor hasnβt mentioned it yet for R, but I might delay it since we have no concerns - it was pretty awful for T until she was 4. And, itβs just an added expense.
At this age, youβll pin your kid while they cry so they can look in their mouth and try to clean a little. Theyβll rub fluoride on the teeth. Theyβll give nutrition advice - milk only with meals, no juice - water is awesome. Fruit snacks are bad for the teeth.

My dentist had told me with T to bring her in before kindergarten. Pediatric dentists want to see them ASAP, obviously. From my experience with T, it had nothing to do with warming up to the dental office and staff - she got older and understood things better. And, we also watched YouTube videos about kids going to the dentist the last couple of times which really helped. Pediatric offices usually have a lot of toys and fun stuff - plus, they get a prize at the end. The office we go to now also has a dog on certain days.
Taking a toddler to a regular dental office to watch a parent get their teeth cleaned seems like a nightmare.

I am planning to take j and my 2.5 yearold to the dentist soon. J has all his teeth but the last molars which we think are coming now. Both are terrible at brushing so I really want the flouride.
I just got them on our dental. I have heard that you really don't need to start taking them until all the teeth are in if you can get them to brush. By 3 is the latest you should wait I think.

It's funny how the dental advice differs. With ds1, I was sure it was 3 so I waited, but then my pediatrician said after 1. I am taking them both this month, so toddler h will be about 18 months. It's a pediatric dentist though and they have an awesome fish tank, tablets, prizes, etc. Toddler H teeth are much more crooked than his brother's, I think due to how much he loves his binky, so I want to see what they say.
Who else is still using a binky/ paci? Anyone got rid of it recently? Ds1 hated it, but toddler h just lights up when he sees his, which has a stuffed puppy on it. He snuggles the puppy against his face, so I think eventually we will lose the paci part and just give him the puppy.

However, he likes it during the day too. We try to limit the time he has it dueing the day and if hes playing he is fine.

We only use the paci for sleep and it stays on the edge of the crib, since we essentially have a little shelf. The dentist had no concerns with the paci use for T (just during sleep times) and she used hers until 3 or so. I have no plans of messing with her sleep.

DS had a pacifier until 2. But L does not use one anymore (she was hit or miss with it for her first few months).
My dentist sees kids for happy visits around 2, so DS has been 3-4 times. Heβs only let them half clean his teeth once though. π€·π»ββοΈ Iβll take L once she gets most of her teeth in.
