S1 was nominated by his teacher for being a terrific kid. The principal was looking for students who were great at displaying being responsible, respectful and safe. His teacher thought of him right away. He had his picture taken with the other kids that were nominated he was in the paper! So proud of him!
We are starting the process of having E evaluated to see if he qualifies for special Ed service. It was recommended by his preschool teacher. Very active, very impulsive, possible motor delays and adaptive skills. A big concern for is his emotional regulation. He seriously gets so angry so fast. There’s no reasoning with him. No form of discipline or trying to reason with him works. When he gets mad he throws, kicks, hits, bites, pinches. If you put him in his room he comes out, if you old the door shot he throws things at the door. He body slams the door, if you put him in a chair he gets out. If you try to keep him there he does the stiff mentions above. I’ve tried to be calm. I’ve tried waiting until he calms down and then talking to him. I try to stop it before it happens but anything I try just doesn’t work. I’ve been taking early childhood classes since E was 1. So I have a pretty good idea of what to try and what’s more effective. None of it works. He does whatever the hell he wants and it’s exhausting. He’s better at school but they have similar experiences.

jedi, that's awesome about S1! I know it's been a hard road for you with him and his progress is amazing! I bet he is super proud as well, as both of you should be. I'm sorry about E though - I think you are trying and doing your best. Hopefully he qualifies and learns new ways to control/express himself. Keep doing your best, and vent here as much as you need.

jedi that's so awesome about DS1! He's worked so hard and you've been such a great advocate for him. I hope DS2 can get some resources to help as well. It can be so hard to find what works for each child.

On Friday we got what I feel is the full diagnosis for M, dyspraxia. I had had his IEP meeting to update his goals on Wednesday, and we talked quite a bit about his motor planning issues. This led me to start googling, and when I discover dyspraxia it was such an accurate description of him in so many ways. I discussed with his OT, and then made a pediatrician appointment on Friday. We saw the doctor who has seen him since he was born and is well versed in his delays. But we know we have the right treatment plan, and I feel wonderful about his care team.

armpants, that's so great that you like his care team and you feel like you've finally got a full picture. M is lucky to have you to organize a treatment plan and to love him up
