We just left A’s well baby check up.



1. What are your 4 months stats/measurements? 24.5 inches long, head circumference 16.1 in and 13lbs 7oz.

2. What size clothes is your 4 month old wearing? What size diapers?

3-6 month clothing, some 6 for length and size 2 for diapers.

3. What does your 4 month old like? Dislike? Likes crinkle books and anything he can get to his mouth, loves when people talk to him.
Dislikes being put down, tummy time.

4. Anything else you'd like to AW? We get his next echo at 5 months, he may need physical therapy because he doesn’t rotate his head all the way to the right.

DS has a flat spot on one side that we are trying to work on so he won't have to wear a helmet. I hope you guys can work out his head movement to improve!!

15 lbs 13 oz 87th percentile for head circumference, 25” long

2. What size clothes is your 4 month old wearing? What size diapers?
He’s in 6 month clothing, size 3 diapers

3. What does your 4 month old like? Dislike?
He likes eating, eye contact and “talking” with his family, story time, watching his older brother
Dislikes: definitely teething and a tad fussy about it, does not like tummy time either meggriffin

4. Anything else you'd like to AW?
He sits in a highchair now, he prefers to be upright if he can help it. It’s nice to pop him in the highchair and he can watch me do dishes.

He had his first ear infection at his 4 month appointment and November and December was just one long illness (colds, fevers, no vomit at least) for our household. Breastfeeding is going well and we get one long stretch out of him at night 9:30-6 that keeps me going.

He has a flat spot on one side too, his ped said that she would let me try and work with him for the month but if I don’t think it’s improving I will need to get him in before the six month appointment.

I hope it improves!! I'm trying to side nurse all night from his left so he's always on that side now and trying to position him in the room that way too. Fingers crossed!

Dd's 4 month appointment is on Tuesday! I'm glad to be getting away from the newborn stage. It's getting way more fun!

13 pounds 11 oz (32nd percentile, I thought for sure she'd be in the 80-90th percentile for how chunky she is!) 25.5" 85th percentile

2. What size clothes is your 4 month old wearing? What size diapers? 6 month clothes, I've even put her in 9 month and they weren't huge 😮 size 2 diapers.

3. What does your 4 month old like? Dislike?
Lily has become such a sweet, calm baby. She really doesn't get too upset by most things. She loves baths, eating, chewing on her hands, and grabbing things. She gets mad when she can't figure out how to let go of things, and she's still not a huge fan of the car seat because she always spits up in it.

4. Anything else you'd like to AW?

She's starting to roll onto her side, and grabbing lots of things. She's showing no interest in food so we'll wait closer to six months to try any food with her.

2. What size clothes is your 4 month old wearing? What size diapers? 6 month clothes but getting too tall for them and size 3 diapers

3. What does your 4 month old like? Dislike? Likes - being tickled, watching big brother, being held standing on his feet, baths, diaper changes, he's just a happy baby; Dislikes - being hungry, tired, being put down for sleep, and apparently sometimes the Game of Thrones theme song - I can hum it, but if I sing it using bah noises I've seen his lower lip start quivering

4. Anything else you'd like to AW? The other day in a very controlled manner I watched him pass a pacifier from his right hand to his left then almost had it back in his right before dropping it.

15 lbs 4oz (70%) and 25.75 inches (93%)

2. What size clothes is your 4 month old wearing? What size diapers?
6 month clothes. She's mostly in size 3 diapers now.

3. What does your 4 month old like? Dislike?
Likes: Eating, being held, "talking", watching big brother, tickles, mommy's singing, sleeping on her tummy, chewing on toys, getting her belly buttoned cleaned!

Dislikes: getting her poop blowouts changed in public (can't say I blame her), still dislikes getting her head and face wiped with a washcloth, lately she's not too keen to be put down for too long.

4. Anything else you'd like to AW? She is just such a tiny chunk compared to DS! She's got these adorable chubby thighs!

I can't believe how different the boy vs girl charts are even this early. DS2 was also 25.75in long at his 4 month appointment - that had him at 72% where the same length has tbirdlove's DD at 93%. That seems like such a big difference!

That IS crazy! I completely forgot that the charts are different for boys vs girls. And duh!! I notice all the time that percentiles are so different for similar weights and I've always wondered why! I even had a printed out copy for DS at one point, it was blue in color and said boy, and yet I completely forgot about that factor!

For her I just put the info in an app. I've noticed a 1% difference among some of the different apps I use.

ETA: I'm seriously DUH-ing so hard over here right now 😂

I borrowed some clothes from my sister who has a boy because I was running out of dd's clothes with my spitter upper, the six month onesies were quite a bit bigger for boys than girls. I was really surprised! DD has been rocking the moose/camping/ boy colored onesies though!

Also about charts my dr said we would transfer to the regular growth chart at the 4 month appointment, I guess we had been using a preterm chart. I’m interested to see if that drastically changes her percentages tomorrow.

She’s in a 2 but our next amazon order are 3s

3. What does your 4 month old like? Mommy, sister and dad, naps in the swing, cuddles

Dislike? Car seat after daycare, not sitting with the family at dinner. We pulled out the high chair so she can sit with us during dinner.

4. Anything else you'd like to AW?
P spits up a LOT, her weight percentile went from 90s to 48 in a month. Dr is wondering if her reflux is affecting gains or if her body is just adjusting to the formula and leveling out. So we are going to do a weight check in 2 weeks, trying cereal in her bottles to help keep more formula down, and not dropping and over night feed if she wakes.... I’m pretty sure P has had more appointments in these first 4 months than M did. We have been almost every month for something. We also have a referral out to an eye dr because the dr wants to double check that her right eye isn’t slight off from the left.

as a teacher I’ve had a theory that 2nd kids are just a little bit more rowdy and hard. P is in the way.

My DD had what was called a "droopy eye" and we had to have it looked at. Basically, one eye was closed more than the other and wanted to be sure it didn't obstruct her vision. I feel like it was really noticeable as a baby, but now I can't see a difference. Hope it goes well at eye doctor!

akwild - Hope it's just her settling into her true weight line and not the reflux causing problems. We had weight gain issues with DS1 and I remember how stressful it was. Hope the eye appointment goes well.

Nymeria we hope so too. She’s not wasting away by any means. But she had gained so fast and now not so much. I have a coworker’s wife who does orofacial therapy and she’s going to check P for any oral reasons for her reflux. M was a pretty spitty baby too, but she always followed her curve beautifully.

I’m feeling pretty extra about all the appointments we’re having for P. She’s proving to be a very different baby.

I hear you, my 2nd has proved to have a lot more needs then my first.

1. What are your 4 months stats/measurements? Caleb is tiny but mighty! 12 lbs 15 oz (5th percentile), 24.75 inches (29th percentile) and head is 50th percentile.

2. What size clothes is your 4 month old wearing? What size diapers? He’s firmly in 3-6 m size, the 6 month stuff is mostly a bit big still. Size 2 diapers.

3. What does your 4 month old like? Dislike? Caleb loves playing on his baby gym mat and is super social and loves to laugh and smile and coo at people, especially his sister. He also loves sucking/chewing on his hands and may be becoming a thumb sucker. The one thing He hates is being disturbed while he’s eating!

4. Anything else you'd like to AW? Little dude rolled both ways last week! And now is over it and no longer interested in rolling lol.

What are your 4 months stats/measurements? 16 lbs 6.5 ounces 26.25 inches long

2. What size clothes is your 4 month old wearing? What size diapers? 6-9 months. Some 6 months have been too short and too tight around his belly.
Some 9 month fit perfectly. Size 3 disposables.

3. What does your 4 month old like? Dislike? He likes being held constantly. Dislikes being in car seat

4. Anything else you'd like to AW? He just won't stop rolling around and likes to get up on his knees when he gets frustrated on his belly. Also, This teething thing is a nightmare.

Omg I just checked out what DD's stats were at her four month check and I didn't realize she was bigger! She was just shy of 18lbs and was 27inches!! Man, I have big babies. Now DD is a string bean! Still super tall but a skinny mini.

My first was 18lbs at 4 months and 28 inches. I don’t remember him feeling big to me but he must have been huge.
