I hope you recover fully from the cold soon, strawberrykiki . No thank you to having a baby while sick! notagoddess I have no experience with c sections, but thinking baby-turning thoughts or smooth surgery and recovery, depending on how things shake out. Do you have family and friends nearby to help with your toddler during the early PP days? I will have help for the first 4 weeks. My husband and mom will be doing a combo of WFH and PTO to be with me and DD. So, it could be a lot worse. If I'm functional after a month, I should be all set.

notagoddess probably not what you want to hear but my Dr warns me that pelvic stuff isn't avoided with c section... The pregnancy alone weakens the muscles and causes hemorrhoids,, and hormones cause dry and painful sex for the 6+ weeks. But she's also not thrilled that I'm choosing a c section so take it with a grain of salt! All the"research" I've done into it makes it clear that I just can't predict if I'll be bouncing back two weeks after surgery, or feeling fragile and awful for months... It's different for everyone. It looks like moving often but gently and not over doing can be a big help. Also uterine self massage hourly at least at first to help the uterus contact, the hospital nurses recommended that can help avoid them doing it torturously a few times while we're admitted. And then regular massage of the incision area for weeks or months as needed is uncomfortable but helps prevent painful adhesions. Numbness and or painful tingling is normal for weeks or months but typically goes away. Need to wait longer (at least 8 weeks, and I plan to see a PT for their expert go ahead) for exercise that engages the core and pelvic area so it can heal enough before putting demands on it, that can help avoid long term issues. An abdominal binder to feel more solid and confident moving after surgery.

sunshiney, I definitely plan on seeing a PT as soon as I'm cleared to do so (after the 6-week checkup). I've stayed active this pregnancy and I'd love to get back to exercise ASAP, but I know that overdoing it would backfire in a big way. Better let a professional lead the way.

The pain today is driving me crazy today. And on top of it, A is sitting so low today that I'm dealing with a ton of butt pressure and all her stretches and jabs seem aimed at my belly button. I know a lot of this is because I overdid it yesterday so if H wants to be completely fucking useless again tonight, I may have to lose my shit.

strawberrykiki Hope youβre feeling better ASAP! @amc thatβs super frustrating that they havenβt given you a clear answer this close to baby time but hopefully youβll find out when the induction is happening at your next appointment π€π»π€π» Iβve been wanting to take DD shopping to get baby a gift and we finally got the chance to go today. She picked out the cutest little bear and Iβm feeling all the feels about her becoming a big sister! So crazy that our little family is going to be complete in just a few short weeks!

cch, I've been wanting to take the boys to do that but I may just do it with DS1 because I'm not sure DS2 will get the concept that he can't keep the gift.

Aw yeah your DS2 probably wouldnβt quite understand right now but maybe DS1 will be excited enough for the both of them? Itβll still be super sweet!

cch, That's what I was thinking. DS1 is already so excited about a new baby, I imagine that is one trip he'd actually enjoy.

This day needs to be over. I hate working late when I'm this far into a pregnancy. *groan*
On the other hand, a bath will be in order....after shopping and making dinner and putting laundry away.

I have had both and am happy to answer any questions you have or talk about it. My C-section was first. Because of my recovery experience and having a two year old having a VBAC was important to me with DD2. For me personally, I greatly preferred my VBAC recovery. Is an external version an option your OB is willing to try? Yes, he's going to perform a version after 37w if baby is still breech then (which I think she will be, she seems very comfortable and isn't flipping around). He said they have about a 50% success rate, so this may all be moot and I'll have a similar birth experience as the first time around. But I do want to mentally prepare, mostly because I will also have a 2-year old home with me. I also don't want another scar on my body. I felt like my recovery with my vaginal birth wasn't that easy. I bled for 8 weeks, I had pain from the episiotomy incision until then, I had pretty bad incontinence and hemorrhoids the first weeks/months. But those complaints were localized to the pelvic floor region and overall I felt great. I'm imagining the c-section experience is the opposite? Like the vag is spared, but overall it's harder because you feel worse from having surgery? notagoddess, I had a hard time with all of it. The procedure itself was really scary for me. I got really shaky and cold. I was really uncomfortable. I didn't have the tearing (obviously) after my c/s that I did with DD2, but it was all pretty much the same in terms of bleeding, cramping etc. I think there is a wide range of recovery. For me, I sort of felt like my guts might accidentally fall out for about two weeks! My hospital stay was 4 days rather than 1. I was up and walking immediately after my vaginal birth compared with not really getting around for days after my CS. My pain medication made me really sick. Throwing up after major abdominal surgery was awful. I felt really loopy from the medication to the point where even when I got home I was sort of out of it. I didn't sleep at all in the hospital so the extra recovery time really set me back in terms of getting back to normal. I also found it much harder to feed DD1 with the added challenge of an incision site. My vaginal recovery was no cake walk, but it was a dramatically better experience overall. That said, not everyone feels that way. I know other women who have had multiple CS and felt really good about them. I am really sensitive to medications and I know that made things much more challenging for me. DD1 was breech and I would do it again, but for me it was more difficult for sure.

k, Carefully. Lol I'm thankful to be short so hauling myself up doesn't seem so daunting, although some nights are harder than others. I mostly grip the edges of the tub and focus on using my arms to get myself up into a position where I can get my feet under me and then, you know, raise slowly while using my arms as the main weight bearers until I have to let go. Basically, though, it's luck. I've had H come pull me out every now and then.

Ugh I just took DS2 and it was a nightmare. I was surprised at how few people there were. The storm isn't supposed to get to us until late Saturday night, so I guess tomorrow is the big "prepare for the apocalypse" day.

No wintery weather, per say. Started the morning with rain and sleet and the wind has been awful with gusts up past 50mph. Feels like spring -.-

Had our growth ultrasound today. Baby girl is actually measuring just under 50th percentile at 5lbs 11oz. My OB said my belly could be measuring a couple centimeters large because of my anterior placenta or a number of other reasons but that itβs NBD. Iβm still 1cm and 50% effaced but sheβs moved down from -2 station to 0 station since Monday π³ So all the contractions Iβm having are doing something. I may refuse the cervical check next week because they make me so crampy and I know they donβt *need* to do them weekly but at the same time itβs nice to know whatβs going on down there π€·πΌββοΈ I donβt remember being checked till 37 weeks with DD so Iβm curious why they started doing it at 35 weeks now. Anyone else having weekly cervical checks so early on? Baby girls face was half covered by my placenta but still really glad we got to see her!

Apparently there's a "super blood wolf moon" this weekend too. Between that and the wintry weather, bring on the babies! Oh I forgot about that! My fav OB is on call Monday and I really want him to deliver this baby. The amount of snow we are supposed to get keeps going up, and with the potential for ice and wind I really hope we donβt lose power again π©. All 4 of us are now fighting colds which is not fun, but I still want this baby to come out.

I got confirmation at my OB checkup today that I'm on the books for induction tomorrow! Not sure what time I'll be going in, or how long induction will take this time, but it's almost baby time! So exciting! And a bit jealous.

@amc yay another baby is coming soon!! cch the doctor offered at 35 and I said no. No one mentioned it at 36 and then at 37 I got checked. Wasnβt a lot happening but a tiny bit. I think I was just too curious. k feel better! I thought I was feeling better today but now I feel like I have a little bit of a fever. I donβt want baby to come out until I feel better youβve got a few weeks on me though or I would probably feel differently!!
