Well, my dad took DS2 to the doctor so I wouldn't have to miss work. He had a 105 temp when they got there and got diagnosed with the flu. They kept them there until his temp dropped to 103 and then put in a prescription for Tamiflu. So this weekend will be fun...especially because I have to work so my parents are stuck with a sick kiddo tomorrow, too. Hopefully, it doesn't spread... Oh no π, I hope no one else gets it!

H is saying he's starting to not feel well. I don't know if that's real or not because I swear, ever since having kids, he always says he's not feeling well as soon as anyone in the house mentions not feeling 100%. Like parenthood has turned him into a hypochondriac. DS2 just fell asleep on me but I feel his fever coming back and we still have 30 min before we can give him Motrin. I feel so bad for my little guy

Well. I guess I knew it was inevitable. H ...is feeling nauseous and gross, I'm feeling nauseous and gross, DS1 says he feels a little sick (or to quote: "like there's an ostrich eating inside him" whatever that means). FML. But I'm so excited for you k!!

DD gained some weight as of her weight check today! Only 14g, but it's a step in the right direction. We go back again for another weight check tomorrow, then presumably a few more days this coming week, to keep an eye on things and make sure the gaining trend continues! Gain is a gain! πͺ thelittleredm oh no. How is your DS2?

Errr Iβm starting to worry about babyβs position, and also wondering if thatβs why Iβm not going into labor on my own. At the ultrasound baby was still sideways and dr said baby hasnβt decided on OP or AP. Google tells me OP can prolong pregnancy and make labors more difficult.

k, He is still dealing with the fevers but they aren't spiking as high as yesterday and last night. He's still pretty out of it when the pain meds start to quit working. But he is nibbling on more food than before and is staying hydrated.

thelittleredm sorry for all the sickness π @amc thatβs great about the gainβgrow baby grow! k purely anecdotal but my second and third babies both were OP and way, way easier labors and deliveries than my first, who was AP. Later stage of labor with DD was a little tough because of back labor but pushing was not bad. DS2 was a breeze; no back labor and I barely had to push at all. I actually was really surprised when then told me he was sunny side up! OP delaying labor from starting though, I have no idea. I have never gone into labor on my own π

You guys. LO nursed for 2 hours 54 minutes today (with an hour and a half still to go in the day and I would not bet against him looking to eat again in that time). Iβm really hoping this is him hitting his 3 week growth spurt a little early. I donβt think I can keep up (or heaven forbid, exceed) this pace.
I am getting in bed now with gel soothies on my nips and praying he sleeps for a couple hours. Iβm spent.

DS so kindly shared his cold with us. Luckily, itβs not a terrible cold - just enough to make my nose stuffy and throat scratchy at night. I took part of a unisom hoping that Iβd be able to get some decent rest...nope. Now Iβm just foggy and tired.
On the bright side, weβre either going to the indoor playground or the science museum today, depending on how early I can get everyone out the door. This might be our last fun outing as a family of 3. I have so many unexpected feelings about this.

dashook your poor nips! Hopefully you got a little longer of a stretch after that marathon nursing session Iβm struggling with a cold. DD had a crispy virus earlier in the week, H had an ear infection and was on antibiotics this week so I bound to catch something. Iβm pushing upper limits on elderberry syrup Iβm also annoyingly crampy, which could mean something, or not. End of pregnancy is weird

Hope everyone feels better soon! I had a cold last week and it was no fun.
I lost my mucus plug yesterday (boy that was gross). I was reading it could mean heβs coming today or not for weeks so that wasnβt too helpful.

k Super excited for you! Canβt wait to hear an update tomorrow!! @amc yay for baby girl gaining some weight! Even if it wasnβt much itβs progress and thatβs what counts! dashook oh no! Your poor, poor nips! Breastfeeding in the beginning was so tough for me so I really feel for you. Hopefully itβs just a growth spurt and baby will give you a much needed/deserved break soon! CharlieB yay for a fun family outing today! Iβve been soaking up all the family time and one on one moments with DD lately and have been having all the feels too. Itβs so bittersweet knowing life will drastically change for the whole family soon. β€οΈ TashaLa oh no! Hope you all are feeling better soon. I personally would count being crampy as a good thing and would assume it means things are moving right along in there. Eeeek! strawberrykiki yay for losing your MP! As gross as it is thatβs totally progress!

strawberrykiki, With DS1, I lost my MP around 35 weeks....he didn't come until 40+2. With DS2, I lost it in pieces 24-48hrs before he showed up. It's a mind twist but progress none the less!

dashook thanks for the anecdote, it does make me feel better. I went from super excited to super anxious and did not sleep well last night π. My memory is so foggy but i kind of think DS1 was OP too. My labor and recovery with him was worse, but right now Iβm mostly concerned about a potentially big baby with less than ideal positioning causing baby to get stuck π¬. Iβm also just trying not to go down a rabbit hole of anxiety right before labor bc thatβs not the way to go. ugh i hate anxiety π.

Woke up and had a super loose stool this morning. Then within minutes of getting up had a couple hard contractions and menstrual like cramping as well as a back ache. Itβs been on and off all day. Iβm used to having tons of BH but the contractions have definitely been getting worse the past week or two. I was in pre labor with DD for two weeks so I pretty much expected that to be the case again this time, especially with my irritable/overactive ute. My mom had an irritable uterus and all 3 of us came early so maybe Iβm just following in her footsteps. Iβve read that you can expect to have similar time lines as your mother when it comes to pregnancy/delivery so Iβm curious if Iβll go with early this one- pretty much everyone seeks to think so π€·πΌββοΈ Crazy how pregnancy seems to fly by and also be the longest 9mo ever at the same.damn.time.

For those with outside babies or who have older kids: I am not breastfeeding. How long does it take the pain to go away? Ds is 3.5 weeks. My milk came in, and then engorgement fully went away by 2 weeks. I'm still having some pain, more so on one side, and I don't remember feeling it for this long with ds2. I was able to express a tiny bit of milk just now - could it be a clogged duct or something deep in there? I can't feel any obvious lumps, and no signs of fever/redness like mastitis. My dr follow up isn't until the 8th and I wasn't sure if this was normal or if I should be seen earlier.

Iβve been having consistent contractions since like 1030 this am, 3-5 min apart but only lasting 30-40 seconds. I called in the my midwife and she thinks I should wait until the intensity and duration increases. But also said that things may slow down if I rest. So Iβm just here, uncomfortably waiting for things to either ramp up or slow down

redhead610 no personal experience but it sounds plausible that it could be a small clog deep in there. Are you able to massage it at all? Maybe in the shower under hot water? It might be worth calling the doctor just to see if itβs something they want to check out. Probably not but at least then youβll know itβs nothing to worry about. TashaLa ahhh exciting! FX!

dashook I had been reluctant to massage or express any since I didn't want to stimulate any more production - today was the first time I tried that. The other night I seemed to "spring a leak" and it did seem to feel better after that, but now it's back to hurting.

redhead610 do you do the cabbage leaf thing? Wondering if that would bring you relief. I was wondering this too. I hadnβt thought about whether massaging could stimulate more milk to come. redhead610

hrh & dashook I have a sulfa allergy and have read a few things that indicate that cabbage leaves can cause a reaction for those with sulfa allergies. My allergy is pretty serious so I didn't want to risk trying that. I did take sudafed the first few days of engorgement. It's odd because they really don't feel full at all! They have gone back down to pre-pregnancy size. At this point I don't think massaging would cause more milk to come in - I was more avoiding that early on when fully engorged!

Iβm so excited to see all of these possible early labor/labor signs! I think we might have a busy week ahead, ladies. π Iβm also having some annoying cramps and hoping that they keep it up. Currently hanging out on my yoga ball where Iβll be every night this week.
We ended up going to the indoor playground this morning and leaving after DS had a hangry meltdown, so we made it a two-outing day and went to the science museum after nap. That was much more successful! The museum is actually in the school where I went for K and 1st grade, and they havenβt changed much on the inside. It was such a trip to be back in my kindergarten classroom with my own kiddo!
