I've always wanted to learn to play the bass so H bought me one for xmas. It was a HUGE surprise. He also got a hold of his friend to teach me. He's the old bass player of Anthranx and SOD (not sure if anyone knows those bands, but he's ridiculously good). I'm having my 1st lesson tonight! I'm so nervous and excited! Let's see if this old dog can learn new tricks 😉

Hello everyone! We still exist. I have read everything but didn't have anything interesting to post. I still don't but want to make an effort to post more now that I am back from the holidays. I'm trying to play catch up from being off work but am finding I lack concentration. At least I am getting a few things done. I booked N's first haircut. He doesn't have much hair but his mullet is growing out of control and I suck at cutting it. DS1 needs one desperately so I just booked them together. After getting DS1's hair butchered at a kid's place one too many times I started taking them to an actual salon. The woman that cuts his hair is awesome and the price is the same anyway. I plan on cutting AJs hair soon too. He finally isn't bald anymore but his hair is all over the place and getting in his eyes now. By this age ds3 had like 15 haircuts already. He was born with a mop and it never fell out lol. I also take him to a salon. I take my older boys there too. She does a great job. I'm going to cut AJs myself though cause it's not much. Just need to get rid of the flyaways. Maybe I'll go crazy and give him a mohawk if he's cooperative 🤣 DS1 has been begging me, saying he wants his "his hair up", meaning spiked. He says he will use "jello" (gel) to style it. I have a little style picked out that will allow for spiking or laying nicely. Funny little dude.

I used to color it all different shades and even made a lizard once (I cant find the pic of it though). But he grew up and didnt want it anymore. It fit him so well though! *poof*

+1. He drank an expired spiked seltzer last night and has been on the couch all day because he doesn’t feel good. 🙄 I am laughing at this. Do those things even really expire? Idk but he stayed home today because he still wasn’t up to 100. I jokingly told him it was a hangover at 34 this morning and he was all “but I only had one drink”...

B still takes two naps - usually at 9:30 and 1:30. He can go with one afternoon nap but we have to plan on a 6pm bedtime.
They are dropping him to one when he goes to the ones room at daycare, which might be Monday (finally).

On the weekends, each one lasts 2-2.5 hours. I can’t imagine her dropping to just one already.

Ds1 had a bad day at school. I've pretty much come to decision that we are pulling him out from their daycare. Something is contributing to the behavior and while he is no angel at home, it's not nearly as bad at home. This sucks but I cannot handle the stress over it and clearly whatever they have "tried" isn't working. I'm over it and ready to just get my kid back on track.
Today his teacher told him that if he acted this way in kindergarten, that he would get suspended. First of all, he has a year and a half until he starts kindergarten. Second of all, suspension isn't something that most small kids understand. He's not an easy kid but the teacher is very clearly unwilling to switch up her teaching "style" to work with him.

Good morning! Ds1 goes back to school today, yay! I’m going to try to push C to one afternoon nap. He’s been fighting the morning one and sleeping for less than an hour. I’d much rather have one longer afternoon nap. What’s everyone else’s nap situation? He usually sleeps from 6:30p-6a at night. We're a toss up; some days it's two short ones and some days it's one long one. DD1 was down to one nap everyday by a year, so this is new sleep territory for me.

cnf B has been sleeping like garbage lately too. I think they are like a day apart, right? Is there a leap or something right now? I’ve been blaming it on his teeth but who knows. I was wondering about a leap too but also just saying teething 🤷

He took 1 nap today (after hanging out in the toddler room) and somehow stayed up til 7. Let’s see how tonight goes.

Hugs, grumpycat. That sounds so frustrating. I hope you find a better fit soon! Thank you ❤️ he's going to be doing mommy boot camp for awhile and the plan right now is to reevaluate in a couple months. My thought is to have "field trips" a couple days a week (we have a family membership to the science museum and the zoo down the street). And we will see how it goes. I'll be done with my current work contract in a couple weeks and won't be looking to take on anything further.

grumpycat how frustrating. I think you're making the right choice. It's such a shame that teachers are so rigid in their ways sometimes. Also, threatening a not quite 4 year old that he'll be suspended in kindergarten- wtf? That's so inappropriate.

Thanks for all the nap anecdotes! I tried to keep C up this morning but he threw a fit at Target because he was so tired. Then he fell asleep on the ten minute drive home but woke up when I tried to transfer him. He took a 1.5 hr nap this afternoon and was crabby all day. So idk.

I’m sorry you’re going through such a stressful time with him. Hopefully your mommy boot camp helps!

I think next time DH goes for a haircut I'll get a tiny trim for DD too. I really don't see her sitting still enough, but my niece is a barber so we'll try. pootsen, mostly two naps for DD. Sometimes if she sleeps in and we have something to do we'll do one and it goes okay, but generally I like the two nap lifestyle. Usually 1.5 hours each 😁 also they stick with two at daycare for quite awhile so I'd feel guilty only doing one at home! But I hear her coughing right now so we'll see how she sleeps tonight 😬

grumpycat, sorry you have to do it, but it sounds like a good idea. Maybe you can find some other families to meet up with that have kids his age so he can keep up his social skills.

My cousin actually has two kids right around his age and lives pretty close by. And our neighbors all have kids around his age. Two of them are actually in his class at school. He loves playing with all of them so he definitely will still get lots of play time with other kids. I think the teacher has just done a number on him, which is just really unfortunate. He will bounce back though.

I'm sorry grumpycat. That's really inappropriate of that teacher. Have you brought it the attention of the director?

I've been up since 3am because both my kids hate sleep. I got a whopping 4 hours. I have an 11 hour day which includes an observation and I'm super pissed about it. I don't understand what is happening with the sleep situation in my house right now!

Poor ds1 woke up with a bad cold so I'm keeping him home today anyway. Dh wasn't sure if it was suspended or sent home. Regardless, not appropriate. She also said sorry doesn't mean sorry if you do it everyday. I understand the sentiment but kids don't function like that yet. At least mine doesn't.

Last night he didn't sleep great and was up for almost 2 hours before he fell back to sleep. For basically the whole month of December, I was getting only 4 hours a night. The last 2 days N has been up before 5 again so that makes the end of the day so much fun. Good luck with your observation today. I have one next Friday.

It sounds like a good choice to remove him from that school grumpycat. It's obviously not a good fit for him.

grumpycat, maybe the teacher is as sleep deprived as cnf and sarahandben108, haha. Just kidding 😊 sorry you guys are so sleep deprived. Some how in trying to get DD off the middle of the night nursing we've made her dependent on both of us in the night 🤦 now she wants me for milk and DH to cuddle her to sleep and to be up for 1.5-2 hours in the night. Sigh. Thankfully I'm still off this week and she's sleeping in until 730/8.
