This candidate field is an embarrassment of riches.
The clown car of Republicans in 2016 was just an embarrassment.

I think what has me feeling optimistic is that none of the candidates who have announced so far seem overly interested in trashing their colleagues for sport. I think Warren, Gillibrand, Booker and Harris want a real debate. I hope I'm right.

I think it’s because they all are working together in the Senate with a genuine goal of doing good. And they know that whatever the outcome, most of them are going to continue to work together in that capacity. I’m so excited by this field!

I am so excited, actually. This field is making me drool. I hope whoever the nominee is considers a running mate from it. I also hope Bernie, Joe, and yes even Hillary sees how strong this field is and stays out of it.

Taking it back to 2016 for a minute- what a spectacular flop Jeb Bush was. I still can’t believe that absent a scandal that guy couldn’t get a campaign off the ground.

I think what has me feeling optimistic is that none of the candidates who have announced so far seem overly interested in trashing their colleagues for sport. I think Pete, Warren, Gillibrand, Booker and Harris want a real debate. I hope I'm right. FTFY I have been reading up on Mayor Pete and watched his segment on The View. I do really like him, and agree about him being a strong contender for getting some moderate votes. I think he would get some conservative votes too, the ones who aren't anti-LGBTQ anyway.

I just saw a friend suggest that whoever the Dem nominee is, assuming they win, should nominate Hillary for AG. Can't help but feel a little like this at the idea: (I mean obviously that would cast a pall over anything that's found against Trump because ITS ALL REVENGE OMG but it's still funny to think about.)

It’s really interesting listening to Michelle Obama’s book and I’m at the part of the 2008 election right now. It’s so daunting and such a big thing to run for President. I swear I’m like why would anyone ever do that??

His milquetoast personality just sort of blended him into the background. I thought he was one of the better R candidates. But another Bush, no thanks. I am not a fan of political dynasties in general.

And they all tend to collaborate well together on the senate floor. I hope and expect they are going to work together to build a great case for the Dems during the primary. And I have high hopes that some of those who do not win will serve in the cabinet.

In another year, he probably would have had a chance. 2016 Republicans wanted someone who would play abrasive identity politics and he just wasn't it.

Especially if we get fresh leadership in the Senate to take their place! This could pave the way for the future of the party.

I think Booker would make a good VP. He has a reputation for being friends with everyone on both sides of the aisle.
