So I went in on Wednesday for my appointment and my Dr was concerned with my blood pressure. I got sent to L&D for monitoring. They kept saying everything looked fine, so I thought I was going home. I was shocked when they said "so... you're going across the hall to be induced!" Well cue to 7 am and my Dr broke my water and started upping my pitocin. I dealt with really painful contractions until about 1:30 when I was checked. I was 5 cms. Around 3:30 I was at my limit. I was given 1 dose of fentanyl an hour for 2 hours and then I gave in and got an epidural. It was FANTASTIC. I could still move my body, my legs toes. I wish I had done it sooner because it was amazing. Around 5pm I was checked and I was at 7cm everything was looking really great. I was able to get a few hours of sleep. Around 11 I was checked again and was still at 7cm. I wasn't having any progression and they turned the pitocin off because his heart rate kept dropping. At 1:00 am they brought in a US machine and started talking about his head position. They realized he was sunnyside up. The midwife was saying she could try to turn him but I was so scared of an injury to him I started freaking out. They had me try different positions to try to turn him and nothing was working and because I wasn't progressing she couldn't even try to turn him even if she wanted to. It was a little after 2 when we came to the agreement that a c section was probably going to be necessary. So after his birth it was confirmed that he was sunnyside up with a knot in his cord Vincent Roman was born at 3:07 am. We are so over the moon with him.

Thank you guys 💕💕
We're home from the hospital and it's been exhausting. We were discharged yesterday. I just couldn't be there anymore and now of course I wish I had stayed for the help. We were up all night long. I love him more then anything, and so happy that he's home but i'm soooo tired. I'm still trying to enjoy all of these moments though

Try to get all the rest and don’t be afraid to ask for help from anyone—your H or family members or trusted neighbors—anyone, who can watch V or hold him while he sleeps so you can get a shower and a nap. It *does* get better but can feel endless when you’re in the thick of it. Hugs and don’t hesitate to vent here if you need to!

I second dashook Those first few weeks, and even months can really be tough but be kind to yourself and ask for help when you need it. You can’t pour from an empty glass. I’m sure you’re doing a great job mama! ❤️

cch and dashook It's 4am and i'm feeding him now and just read your words. I seriously needed that right in this moment. It's night 3 at home and I was able to get 2 - 4 hour chunks of sleep yesterday so that felt like a win. That's 8 hours!!! I took vinny downstairs so my poor husband could take a turn at sleep. I think i'm actually way ahead of him in terms of sleep which is crazy because i'm the one feeding DS. Things I learned - load your baby up during the day, as advised by my pediatrician. That helped me get some actual rest because he's so full from the day.

Foxy glad to hear you’re getting some rest! Even if just in small blocks, it still counts! Something that helped me a ton (and what made my second baby so much easier than the first because I started it right away) was differentiating for baby between day and night. In the beginning with DS, every time he would wake at night I would turn on the lights (albeit dimly), change his diaper, then nurse him with the TV on. He didn’t always settle back down right away do I would end up having to walk around bouncing and shushing him for an hour or two to get him back to sleep after each wakeup, day or night. With DD I never changed her (unless poop) or even unswaddled her at night, and didn’t turn on the lights or TV, just nursed her, burped her, and put her back down in the dark and quiet. It seemed to help her adjust quickly and so she naturally would feed more in the daytime and less at night. Every baby is different obviously but thought I would share because it helped me so much, it’s worth a shot!

I did the same thing as dashook with my second. I also tried keeping him more entertained during awake periods and it seemed to help him sleep better.
