We're going to be doing Christmas Eve dinner with my family and I need ideas. What's on your menu? What are your favorite dishes?

Nope. I didn't know that was a thing. We only usually do no meat during Easter.

We used to always do lamb or ham. This year we're going to the Hotel Galvez for christmas dinner with my SIL's in laws' family. I'm....not happy about that.

We don't host Christmas Eve or Christmas Day.
Christmas Eve is with the ILs. We do an array of hors d'oeuvres. And GMIL makes her drumettes and they are the best thing ever. I would share a recipe if I had one. She only makes them for Christmas.
Christmas Day is with my family, and they usually do prime rib. But this year my mom wanted to mix things up, so we're doing Mexican food. MH will make enchiladas and my dad is making pork verde. We'll also have salsa and guac and I'm sure a couple other things.
I make desserts. I actually don't know what I'm doing yet. My mom asked that I make the apple cranberry pie that I did for Thanksgiving. So that's one thing. I was thinking maybe some dulce de leche mini tarts as well. Maybe for Christmas Eve I'll make some cream puffs or mini pies? I need to think more about this.

My brother and I alternate years and host. Last year I hosted and we had a beef tenderloin. I always have this special cheesy potato dish that my mom makes, a veggie, rolls. However, my brother this year is doing a turkey and a ham. Nether my H or I do ham so I think that’s why they are throwing in a turkey.

Turns out I’m not hosting Christmas. We decided to go to H’s uncles house. I was going to make baked ziti w salad and garlic bread. It’s easy, can be pre made and just popped into the oven. Plus I didn’t want to do the same “thanksgiving-like” food. H’s uncle does a lamb leg. I’m going to bring apple pie.

I’ve tried something new every year. Rack of lamb and prime rib were the last two years. It was really good, but both were stressful and time consuming. H just asked for a regular thanksgiving like meal since we can whip that up pretty easily and we really truly enjoy it.
Christmas Eve we have always gotten dressed up and gone to a fancy dinner. This year we’re going to go in the complete opposite direction and just have favorites and snacks. My sister and BIL will be here and the menu has gotten ridiculous. Adult lunchable spread, sushi, shrimp cocktail, one million dips, homemade Chex mix (a sweet and a savory), and on and on.

I think we're doing prime rib this year again on Christmas. Probably with creamed spinach, sprouts, and jacket potatoes.
Christmas Eve the three of us are going out to eat. We intended to go to one of our favorites, Napa Rose, but my H forgot to make reservations the day they opened up and we missed out. Instead we'll be trying out Storyteller's Cafe, also at the Grand Californian. So hopefully the character aspect will help entertain A.

We found out last night Christmas Eve we are having lasagna with meatballs, sausage, pasta etc. We do DH’s family on christmas eve and it’s usually always lasagna with a deli meat tray but last year they switched it up and just did heavy appetizers. No one was a fan. I’m glad they went back to the original menu. DH’s grandma’s red sauce is the best I’ve ever had.

Christmas Eve is at my Aunt's. She does a big "open house" type event. There will be a huge variety of food. Usually includes chowder, chili, ribs, wings, meatballs, salads, roasted veggeis, etc. Christmas Day will be our normal/traditional Jiggs with Turkey. My sister is hosting for the first time which makes me a little nervous.

H’s dad hosts Xmas eve. It’s normally heavy appetizers and heavy on the booze. Guess who’s DD?

What about Christmas breakfast? Anyone do anything special? I’d like to make something quick and easy. Maybe with eggs?

I've seen some yummy looking breakfast casseroles on Pinterest that I'd love to try but never have an opportunity. Usually you can prep the night before and just pop it in the oven.

That quiche is happening for sure. I’m also eyeing up some breakfast pizza recipes as well kleigh. Do I need a quiche dish or will an aluminum pie dish suffice? For some reason far beyond me I have like ten of them in my pantry and would love to use one up.

I’m so sorry for asking a million + food questions lately. I’m hell bent at becoming a good cook and realizing that my own judgment hasn’t gotten me very far so I’m depending on y’all to steer me in the right direction.
So far we’ve gone two entire weeks without a single over cooked piece of meat!! The best!

We do the same food Thanksgiving and Christmas so I don't have much to report. I have made some really good cast iron skillet French toast casserole in the past but I'm not sure. I want to try my hand at homemade cinnamon rolls.

For anyone who wants to make sprouts, you should try this recipe: link It's fairly rich - heavy cream say what - but so tasty and a good hearty wintery indulgence.
