nevertoomanyshoes, that is great news! I hope everything goes smoothly from here on out. What's everyone making for Christmas dinner? Its just going to be DH and me and the kids, so I don't want to go to crazy but I still want it to feel a little like a holiday. I have a little picnic ham and was thinking about maybe fancy mac and cheese and broccoli? Any good veggie sides anyone wants to recommend?

I posted this in the drinking thread on GD on Saturday but B fell down the stairs to the basement on Sat. We were in the kitchen and he was crawling around. L went downstairs to play and did t close the baby gate. Which isn’t his fault at all and I should’ve checked but I wasn’t thinking. Ugh. We got him to emerg and they were like, babies are pretty bouncy. He’s been almost totally fine since but I’ve been a bit of a wreck.

It’s festive because it’s $100 right now (here anyways. Yeesh)

leatherpants glad B is okay! I imagine I’d be feeling the same way as you, but he looks pretty happy still in that pic. Also, $100 asparagus?! For real?

B has been totally fine since - maybe a little extra cranky.
I am pleased the bump on his head didn’t turn into a black eye though. It was looking like it. And he has the marks of the stair nosing on that bump on his forehead. Ugh. It makes me sick to think about. I didn’t see it. Just heard it. I swear I’ve never moved so fast in my life.

N has started to say "uh oh". It's the cutest. We had friends over for dinner last night and she kept throwing her toy on the floor and saying "uh oh" haha.

calendula, I love Ina Garten's leek and artichoke bread pudding. It's a great substitute for stuffing and feels festive. It's so, so good. Also mashed veg feels festive to me. My go - to its mashed potatoes with cream cheese and spinach. I also made a delicious rutabaga and sweet potato mash a couple weeks ago. I can get you recipes if any of these appeal to you.

Thank goodness they're bouncy. I'm glad he's ok leatherpants. We had a near miss the other day. When I came out of the kitchen E was on the third stair going up and slipped when she turned to look at me. So now we need a gate for those too.

This weekend was like hilariously bad. SO locked the keys in the trunk of the car on our way to our family party on Sunday. The house was already locked so we had to sit outside to wait for CAA for 45 minutes with cold, cranky kids.
DS slipped and fell in dog shit on the front lawn of my uncle's house when we finally got there. Of course I did not have a change of clothes for him but thankfully my cousin had some to borrow.
When we got home I bent down to put our dog who simultaneously jumped and split my lip which is now a lovely shade of purple.
I just can't get over that all of that happened on the same day.

My MIL mentioned thinking she would tell DD that Santa left her some gifts at their house because she bought so many things. (🙄🙄🙄) I shut that down pretty quickly but I’m scared to see the amount of crap that will soon arrive😩 what’s the over/under that there will be gift receipts involved?

MIL wanted to do a stocking for DS1 his first Christmas but I was firm that Santa only comes to our house from us. Then last year she bought him 9 presents which was more than he was getting from Santa so we made her take some out (she stays at our house Christmas Eve so we saw them as she literally took over our lounge room putting them out Christmas Eve). This year she said she was getting both boys 3-4 presents each and that was it. But we will see. I am quietly confident that she gets it now.

My sister in law had her baby yesterday and I’m dying to see her but I won’t/can’t because DD1 has strep. Damn winter and it’s sickness.

Baby Mermaid pulled herself up for the first time today, turned to the Christmas tree, took a step at it while grabbing a branch and fell. I managed to teleport over there before she hit and caught her.
I cannot have another early Walker. CANNOT.

Its out of control. Nothing from Santa, though. Last year my MIL labeled some of the gifts at her house from Santa but wasn't careful about using different wrapping paper or handwriting and my son picked up on it (he was 5). She tried to do the "oh santa must have dropped them at my house by mistake" and I was just OH HOW SILLY NONNI IS JUST KIDDING AND THOSE GIFTS ARE FROM HER while shooting daggers at her across the room.

DD took a few steps the other day but we’re still in the clear on the walking front. She also started signing “eat”. The last month has been an explosion of personality and she’s really big to me now.
