It's still early but I'm already planning ahead to my c section with #3!
Who's having a repeat c section?
What would you do differently this time?
What would you do the same?
What's your favorite postpartum items?
What are your best tips?

I had a c section with O because he was breech. Iโm going to talk to my doc about the risks of a VBAC but Iโm not opposed to another c section:
Who's having a repeat c section? Possibly me
What would you do differently this time? Nothing
What would you do the same? I read that eating a semi liquid diet for 24 hours before surgery can help with gas pains post surgery. I did it and didnโt have any gas pains that my gfs described so I think I will do it again. Stay on top of pain meds.
What's your favorite postpartum items? Mesh panties from the hospital. Pads to put over the incision. Anti bacterial soap. Tummy support band from the hospital. Although I think Iโm going to buy my own w a crotch this time. Even though I loved it, it kept riding up my waist. High waisted yoga pants.
What are your best tips? Donโt skip your pain meds. Keep the incision clean. Wear a support band for at least the first week.

Who's having a repeat c section?ย Me. I had an ECS with DD afyer 27 hours of labour and 3 hours of pushing due to persistent brow presentation.
What would you do differently this time? This time it will be a scheduled CS. I will bring a cheap nightgown that I can just throw away for post op (I was 8n hospital for 5 nights with DD and only wore the hospital gowns). Also planning on getting a Halo bassinet for beside the bed for after this CS.
What would you do the same?ย I don't remember much but since it was an ECS the first time I imagine it will mostly be the same. I'll just make sure to have formula at home this time around in case my milk doesn't come in again.
What's your favorite postpartum items?ย +1 to the mesh undies. I stole a bunch during my last 2 hospital stays too:)
What are your best tips? Start walking and moving around as soon as possible. I was a bit of a baby about the pain and bleeding the first time. Be prepared for the possibility your milk won't come in right away. I didn't know that was typical of CS births.

sammysam I had a friend that had a ESC with her first and a schedule with her 2nd. She was so scared of having a repeat type of experience but we talked a lot about my scheduled c. And after she agreed it was so much better.

cookswithwine I'm a huge scaredy cat when it come to anesthesia and surgeries so I think the ECS was good for me in a way because I was in so much pain and was so exhausted I didn't have time to process. I'm worried that with the scheduled CS that I'm going to have too much time to think about everything and just freak myself out:/

Who's having a repeat c section?
This will be my third section. I wanted a vbac with my second but he wanted to stay cooking longer than was safe for us to try. I plan on having my tubes tied this time since we are absolutely done having kids.
What would you do differently this time?
I had a small complication while healing last time. So if it happens again I won't wait to get help thinking the incision pain I had was normal.
What would you do the same?
What's your favorite postpartum items?
Always infinity pads, giant underwear that go up to my belly button
What are your best tips?
If you have even a small inkling that something is off call your doctor! My first C-section was a breeze and I'm hoping for a repeat of that experience.

okay I got a little distracted heres mine... Who's having a repeat c section? I most likely will be. If in the rare chance I don't develop high BP or Pre-E, I'm going to try to VBAC but this would be my last chance. What would you do differently this time?: I want the drape lowered and I want to make a bigger deal about skin to skin. They didn't listen to me about DS2 and I am so mad they didn't. I'm also going to do my hair and make sure my toes are nice. And I'm going to ask to change into my own gown/robe before I have visitors this time, and make sure I take more pictures of baby with relatives. We didn't take any of MIL and FIL with DS2 when he was born and I wish we would have. I still don't have pictures of them with DS2 because they prefer DS1. :/ Also I'm going to ask about having a birth photographer, but I've also heard it's up to the anesthesiologist if they're allowed, so it may not even be until the day of to find out if they're allowed in the room, and finding out last minute would just suck. But then they'd be there for fresh newborn pics. I haven't decided. It's a lot of money so I'd hate to feel like it wasn't worth it later. What would you do the same? Get up as soon as possible and get the catheter and leg thingies off. Take pictures constantly. Dress baby in special outfit for meeting big brothers. Have my kids come up as soon as we're in recovery to meet baby. What's your favorite postpartum items? Stool softeners, large undies, postpartum support wrap, and I got one of those little pillow pets and it was small enough to hold against my incision for coughing/laughing and getting up, and it was cute. My husband got it for my birthday the day before (DS2 is the day after me!) and lots of easy snacks. What are your best tips? Get up and walk around. Don't overdo it but also you don't have to be a slave indoors. I went out and about quite a bit after each boy was born and I'm pretty sure it made my recovery easier. When DS2 was 4 days old we ran into my OB who delivered him and she was so impressed I was up and out already LOL

Okay ladies we're halfway there
Who's making a birth plan if you're planning on RCS?

No birth plan here. I'll schedule the RCS at my 30ish week appointment for 39 weeks (so June 24th or 25th likely). If I end up going into labour earlier then I go directly to L&D and whoever is on call will do the RCS right away.
DD will be with my parents (since I will be in hospital minimum 3 days). I'll have SO go play with DD while I'm in hospital since I'll be fine on my own after baby is here and I don't want DD getting too worried that I'm not there.
But that's it.
I didn't have a plan last time either. I just go with the flow:) At least I have somewhat of an idea of what to expect with the CS this time around. And I'm hoping for a calmer and quicker birth experience all around since last time was an ECS and this one is scheduled.

I donโt have a birth plan per say... but I feel like my OB team followed my would be wishes last time: My arms were not strapped down. We did skin to skin in the OR. H went w/ baby for whatever tests they do while I was stitched up. I was able to breastfeed immediately in the recovery room.
I am still with the same practice/hospital this go around.

We did skin to skin as soon as I was brought to the recovery room (I lost a lot of blood and they had to work on me a bit after DD was out). SO stayed with DD the entire time and met me in recovery with DD already snuggled in his arms.
