We are still not back to normal. We tried to feed M toast and he cried so hard so we are back to tube feeding. Today is 50% formula and 50% Pedialyte. Hopefully tomorrow he will eat. I dont really want to eat either and I'm having lung pain which is freaking me out. DH works 11 hours today (12 with commute). It's awesome that your county has a playgroup Cheshie6. We dont have that here. Early childhood at 3 is nationwide though so M will start that in October. I have to look into what that transition will look like. I think I can start paperwork at 2.5. He seems so young that it's terrifying. I'm supposed to find out about the job this week. I'm actually a little panicked about getting it. I have not spent that much time away from M and I'm already so busy I dont know how I will manage. Long term it's exactly what I want but I wasnt really ready tor it. The interview went really well but we still aren't quite on the same page about scheduling. You could tell that we were both trying to figure out how to make it work. She's use to having people who are retired and can change their schedule at the drop of a hat. That will never be me. So we will see.

I've been called to Jury Duty the a few times, and actually served twice. The first time the judge threw out the case - basically a homeless man was accused of stealing the possessions he had in his backpack but the police didn't have any evidence that the items were stolen. The judge absolutely made the right call. The second time it was a case of a DUI under ambien. Interesting case and I still feel conflicted. Given the parameters of the laws in CA, we sort of had to find him guilty but I'm not so sure if justice was served, kwim?

Dammit danib I’m so sorry! I hope this means some overtime for him over the next few days and a guarantee he’ll be home for Christmas. Hope the boys and the weather cooperate for you.

I’ve been wondering about this as marijuana has starting to become more and more readily (legally) available. I’m curious how it’s going to affect DUIs, if at all. But not curious enough to actually google it. That first case sounds disgusting. I’m so glad the judge had his head straight.

I definitely think driving under the influence of marijuana should be treated the same as alcohol. The ambien thing was unusual in that like most who experience the wacky side effects of that drug, he had no recollection of ever getting into his vehicle. He took his sleep med and went to bed, and next thing he knew he was in jail. People have cooked meals and done all sorts of things while under the influence of ambien, when all they expected was that they'd get some sleep. Unfortunately for him, he had a past experience of walking to the grocery store while taking ambien, so the court argued it wasn't a completely unforeseen action. And he took no steps to make sure he didn't have access to his car keys, etc while taking his medication. But his poor guy was in medical school and going for days without sleep and I know how desperate you get when you get so little sleep. Like I said, it was complicated and I still feel conflicted even though I know we as a jury came to the correct decision under the law.

I should mention part of my conflicted feelings come from the punishment he was facing. Because he had a couple of drug (specifically marijuana) offenses in his past, under the California three strikes law, he was facing something like 10 years in prison. That is absolutely a problem with the law (and why I'm adamantly opposed to the three strikes law specifically) but not something we as a jury were supposed to take into account. Taking ambien absolutely changed the course of his life in a terrible way and for that I feel so terrible for him.

And I guarantee he didn’t hide his keys because as a med student it’s ingrained in you to have everything at the ready in case you get called in. Nights off are so much more rare than being on call. I get why he got in trouble, but I really feel for him. I tell this story pretty often, but my middle dachshund is mine as a result of the Xanax they gave me during my loss. Zero recollection of ordering and paying for her. I had to take it again over the summer for one of my vein procedures and had my H take my wallet and phone for the entire day because I didn’t trust myself to not order something ridiculous.

Oh sophiegrace that makes me feel even worse. I wish his defense had brought that up. Not that it would have changed anything necessarily but maybe people would have been more sympathetic. I feel like so many people don't truly understand how crazy making it is to suffer from chronic insomnia. 😔

For here at least, now that it's legal, they will test the level of THC in your system the same as they do with alcohol and below a certain limit is ok. I'm not sure what it equates to in terms of smoking a joint or edibles but there is a threshold.

I believe he did, although I don't recall the amount of time he was sentenced to serve. It's been about a decade since so I imagine he's out by now. Unfortunately I don't remember his name - it's been so long - so I can't internet creep to see what happened to him.

I've never been called for jury duty. MH has twice, but both times they called him to say he wasn't needed before he even had to go in.
Weed is legal here, but it's still illegal to drive under the influence. You're also not allowed to smoke in public places, but the police here seems to be a little more lax on that rule. Downtown Seattle, more specifically, Pike Place, always smells like weed.

I have a few extra Christmas cards. Who do you guys send them to besides family and friends? I'm going to send to our RE office and to our realtor. Would you send to the lawyer who did your will and trust? Maybe our builder? Is that super weird? Just trying to think of anyone we worked with this year.

Are you friendly with any of your neighbors yet? We got a bunch our first year from families we had met maybe once or twice. It was nice. Especially sense I couldn’t remember half of their names.

I'm so pissed. MH took M to the dentist. He texts me a couple hours later to say the dentist is suggesting we bring her back next friday for the crown. He did the cavity first. Ummmm, what? No fucker. You get all that work done today. We argued over text for awhile and then he calls me to say he set up the appt for next week.
I'm not delighted. That's another $135. By the time we add everything up we might as well have saved up the money for put her under and avoided all the trauma.
And why wouldn't you do the most important one first? That was the whole point of him taking the day off since we have to keep an eye on her after the crown. I can send her back to school after a little filling. WTF?
