For the purposes of this check-in, we will define extended breastfeeding as breastfeeding beyond 1 year. Questions are repeated and suggestions are appreciated! 1. How old is your LO? 2. How many times per day does your LO nurse? 3. Do you still nurse on demand, or have you taken steps to actively drop nursing sessions? 4. How old was your LO when you introduced solids and how did LO take to them? How is your LO eating now? Pregnant & BFing Moms: How are you doing? Any issues with supply, pain, aversion? Questions for other moms? Tandem Nursing Moms: How are you doing? Any current challenges? Questions for other moms? GTKY: What is your favorite holiday movie?

1. How old is your LO? 18m 2. How many times per day does your LO nurse? 6ish? 3. Do you still nurse on demand, or have you taken steps to actively drop nursing sessions? On demand 4. How old was your LO when you introduced solids and how did LO take to them? How is your LO eating now? 6 months. She likes food and was a lot more experimental than her brother was. It took a few months before she ate more than a bite here and there. She is an okay eater. I just got my first period and I feel like she’s eating more so maybe she doesn’t like the taste as much.

1. How old is your LO? -15mo this week!
2. How many times per day does your LO nurse? -2-4 times
3. Do you still nurse on demand, or have you taken steps to actively drop nursing sessions? -On demand unless he's clearly just enjoying signing "milk" over and over.
4. How old was your LO when you introduced solids and how did LO take to them? How is your LO eating now? -We did BLW at 6mo. He loved everything at first. Now he mostly eats carbs and yogurt at home. He'll eat all the things at school, including double breakfast daily.
GTKY: What is your favorite holiday movie? -serious-ish: The Family Stone; fun: The Santa Clause

1. How old is your LO? Almost 14 months old 2. How many times per day does your LO nurse? 5-6 times a day. 3. Do you still nurse on demand, or have you taken steps to actively drop nursing sessions? Mostly on demand still. He climbs up the stairs and goes to my nursing spot. Then signs milk like crazy. I haven't tried to wean him despite being tempted for motn wake ups lol. 4. How old was your LO when you introduced solids and how did LO take to them? How is your LO eating now? 6 months but he really wasn't interested until closer to 8 months. He is a bottomless pit now. He loves all proteins and most fruits/veggies. No interest in pasta 🤷

1. How old is your LO? 14.5 months 2. How many times per day does your LO nurse? About 4 (see question below) 3. Do you still nurse on demand, or have you taken steps to actively drop nursing sessions? We've dropped a couple sessions in the past couple months - he nurses upon wake-up in the morning and before bed at night. He gets expressed milk between meals at daycare/I nurse between meals on weekends. 4. How old was your LO when you introduced solids and how did LO take to them? How is your LO eating now? He showed very little interest in solids until about 10 months, but he's eating really well now, for the most part. GTKY: What is your favorite holiday movie? Elf, The Holiday I have a questionHas anyone experienced a toddler nursing strike? He has refused to nurse since Sunday evening. This happened all of a sudden, and from what I'm reading he is likely not weaning (since it was sudden and not gradual), but for some reason he can't/won't nurse. Sunday he started to bite me lightly, then look at me and cry. I jumped a little the first couple times he bit but I did not react strongly as he wasn't biting that hard. He'd nurse off and on through that, but by Sunday night he wouldn't even latch. He gets upset if we sit down in the chair in his room (even if I'm not offering) so I've stopped using that chair. I've tried to be very breezy about offering but he is having none of it. The last 2 nights we've read books and sang songs, then I gently offer when he gets drowsy and he turns away. I also tried a dream feed of sorts after he fell asleep but that was unsuccessful. I'm pumping to keep up my supply. He is generally more fussy and clingy to me. I'm suspicious that his molars are trying to cut through, they are swollen. This sucks emotionally and physically, but I really just want to help him. At times I sense that he wants to and I'm trying very hard to follow his cues but any time I feel like maybe we're getting close, he loses it. Does anyone have any ideas I can try? I'll take head pats, too. I think one of my bigger fears is that even if it is teething related, if this goes on for a couple weeks, that he'll get out of the habit of nursing and he'll just be done. IDK if that's logical but I am def not prepared to be done.
ETA He's still drinking expressed milk at daycare. I was getting ready switch from bottles to cups, but I'm delaying that for now. ETA This morning he was upset (fussy) and I was comforting him with my breasts out and he latched then immediately bit me. I did not react, I just held him, and he let go and cried.

CoachTsWife, have you tried giving him advil? that might help if he's having teething pain. is it possible he has an ear infection? none of my kids have ever done a nursing strike, but from what i've read on here it seems like kids will refuse for a few days or a week and then suddenly go back to nursing like nothing ever happened.

I tried Motrin Tuesday evening after supper and it didn't have any impact on bedtime nursing.
I thought about an ear infection and have offered in different positions with no success. I haven't had his ears checked though.

1. She's 3! My gosh. 2. 1-4 3. We mostly nurse on demand, but she's hearing not right now more often. She's been sleeping better the last couple of weeks so sometimes we skip the wake up session, and she isn't asking for it. Maybe just maybe in 4-6 months she'll be ready to stop on her own? 4. We started at about 6 months. She's pretty picky these days, but it's the age.
QOTW: Elf, The Christmas Card, White Christmas. Idk. I'm a sucker for a Christmas movie.

He is not. He continues to drink expressed milk but is not interested in nursing. He was quite a bit more fussy this weekend and not sleeping as well, so I took him to the dr this morning to have his ears checked. His ears are fine and the dr didn't see anything else concerning. All four of his molars are swollen, plus another tooth.
I asked the dr about him not nursing. He said even though it was sudden he could be weaning. He gently told me that some kids are just too busy at this age (14.5 months) and the comfort they get from nursing isn't enough to outweigh the desire to get down and play. ;( I explained that he will still snuggle and take a bottle of expressed milk in my arms at bedtime, and he said some toddlers still want the milk but are too busy/impatient (don't want to wait for let down)/headstrong to nurse. LO is definitely head strong.
IDK. We're at a week now. I feel like I've settled into an EP mode and I'm not sure if that is good or bad. I'm seeing some decrease in my output. I had hoped he'd nurse through the flu season, and four months ago I thought we'd never get him to eat solids and that I'd be nursing him forever. Now this....ugh. I'm tired of feeling in limbo, but I will definitely give it another week, although I'm really losing hope that he'll latch again.

awww, i'm sorry CoachTsWife, that's tough. i'm glad you're giving it another week even though i know pumping is no fun. it's good to go gradually anyway so you don't get blocked ducts. i still think there's a chance he'll come around! hugs to you.
