mrspiatt, that's not so bad. You should see Poppy's passport photo. Getting her passport was an ordeal. They were having a passport "fair" at our post office one Sunday last month. We got there 15 minutes after the start, and there was already a line out the door. We were in line for close to 2 hours. At some point someone gave us a coloring book but no crayons. Desperate times, so I gave P what I had on hand— a blue prisma color (permanent) marker. It ended up on her face. I had photos of her from the passport photo thing at CVS, so I rolled with it, but then they told me the photos I had were unacceptable because her face needed to be .1mm bigger. So they had to take her photo there. An alcohol wipe later, and she had a light blue streaked, red irritated face that was tear stained as they took the photo. But at least now we can leave the country if we want.

I also will keep my wine and health care thankyouverymuch! Lol (my mom makes wine, so it's super cheap...usually free! Just the way I like it). I never look at how much is taken off my cheque in deductions because it depresses me...like at tax time when I see the T4, but then I remember all the free social services we have around and use, and don't feel so bad. I know a recent payment from my side gig was for $3500 and I ended up getting like $2700 in my account. That stung. Oh well! Lol!

Hearing all the American ladies talk about bills for health care seriously makes me sad. Friends of ours lived in Florida for a few years and ended up having a baby there. I think they said they ended up paying something like $10,000 just for his birth....i was like WTAF?? That's insane!

On the topic of bathing suits I actually purchased two not too long ago online from Rosegal. I actually really like them both! Just read the comments to see how it fits. Ended up not being such a great deal, after exchange and then the stupid site shipped 4 items, ordered at the same time, in 2 shippments and I ended up having extra duty fees...but I am looking forward to wearing then in Costa Rica!!

It's bad enough our childcare costs are so high...hearing our government is looking at trying to change that with a national childcare system, but I doubt I will receive any of those benefits!

That's kind of shocking. I thought it was like you guys were paying barely any taxes, and then crappy amounts for insurance. I'm in Maryland, and the government, she do take a bite. But yeah, it sucks to pay that much, but H and I are both high income earners, so it's important to us to pay back into the system.

So I decided to reach out to the wife... I just let her know I'm available if she wants to talk or needs anything. She asked if we could do lunch sometime soon and I told her definitely. So we'll get together on her day off either next week or the following. I guess the friend texted H this morning to thank him for not judging and said "he's terrified of anyone knowing and it turns his stomach to tell people". The wife made a comment that "knowing that he isn't dead is the only positive thing I've got going on". I really feel awful for them right now. I'm glad I reached out and I really hope I can help her, even if it's just listening.

I just started having to pay for it this year. Thankfully only $28 a week, but the birth of both my kids only cost like $300 each and we have great coverage.

You guys! My wine will be here tomorrow! It helps I'm only about 2 hours from where this stuff ships, but holy cow... $14.44 for 4 bottles of wine and possibly in less than 24 hours. Freaking fantastic.

Being productive tonight. I went to the dollar store and put together color buckets. I'm excited for the girls to play with them tomorrow. Only one bucket out at a time though.. That would just be a giant rainbow mess otherwise 🙈

I'm really excited about a new personal project I just started. I'm collaborating with someone on a series of children's books geared toward kids with autism. She's writing the stories and I am illustrating. Hooray for you! I always think your life is so cool

You guys, barring any last minute calls, the longest work day of my year is finally over!
My brain hurts, but I'm gonna take a shower and go to bed. Will be up early finalizing some travel, but I am looking forward to mostly relaxing this weekend. I made it!

Also, H and I are both healthcare professionals who work firsthand with insurance companies and we were so so confused when picking plans. I cannot imagine how the general population with no knowledge of insurance innerworkings can possibly make informed decisions. My background is in social work. Whenever I need to help with insurance stuff (or Social Security for that matter), I have no fucking clue what I'm doing. I have a bachelor's degree and support those with mental disabilities. If I can't figure it out, I can reasonable assume those I support can't as well.
