We have our stockings up and thats it. I dont think we are putting our tree up since its a vintage aluminum tree and fragile. Maybe just do a tiny tree.

Yeah I’m feeling behind with the holiday crunch. We did get our tree and decorations up (minimal this year since M is like a tornado) Our tree is huge and so far gating it off is keeping her at bay!
I still have mucho shopping though 👎 I always start off good and then fall behind.

We put our tree up, it’s luckily out of As reach. Other than that, super minimal. We aren’t even putting lights up outside this year. I really love the holidays, but hate the stressful ness of gifting. MHs family is large and everyone gives gifts to each other. It gets to be a lot...and expensive.

I kind of forgot it was already December and we should put a tree up. Idk where, I feel like Noah will destroy it. Maybe I’ll just do the tree with lights and no ornaments to minimize possible damage and destruction lol

I'm almost done with shopping. I have to get gifts for H's family exchange yet. We are doing a "camping" exchange. Which is fine. Except I don't know what the people we got already have or want. So, I'm a little lost on what to get them.
I love Christmas but I don't enjoy the stress of it as an adult. Or the cost.

We never pull out our christmas stuff until after the 6th since we celebrate Sinterklaas the 5th of December, so seeing christmas stuff out before that always feels a bit odd to me haha. We haven't decided what to do regarding the tree this year. I would love a big one but with Daphne I don't think that's a good idea this year ;-) It's tempting to just skip a tree altogether but at the same time I feel Xmas isn't Xmas without a tree so we probably will get a teeny one!

We decorated this past weekend. Our big tree I did very sparingly with only ornaments that shouldn’t break. We have a small kid tree with stuff I don’t care if they mess with- a paper chain, cinnamon ornaments DS helped make, etc.
I’m done shopping for the kids and DH but haven’t shopped for anyone else. I have no idea what to get most of the people on my list! I’m going to have to sit down and online shop one night- because wandering around stores isn’t going to happen now.

It’s super bruised- like at least half my foot is purple/black/blue. Having 2 kids at home hasn’t let me rest it much, so I’m pretty sore. I’ve been icing it at night after they are in bed- that’s about the best I can do! I had been running for my mental health and not having that right now is a major bummer. But I know in a month or so I should be back at it.

pennylane. Sorry about your foot! That sounds awful. We were planning to drive 4 hrs today to visit my nephew for his 4th bday, but my sil told me last night that her other son (1year old) tested positive for RSV yesterday. She said he seems okay and she sent him to daycare (!), But he is on frequent Albuterol. What would you guys do? I'm calling our pediatrician today and will go by whatever she says but curious what others think. My inclination is not to go bc toddler H still puts everything in his mouth and it's so contagious. However my boys don't have asthma and I thought it was just like a cold in kids without prior respiratory aggravation.

A quick google search says it’s definitely contagious! I can’t believe she sent him to daycare. Too risky in my opinion and plus with the long drive and it being for a birthday party, definitely would skip it.

I too am surprised she sent the kid to daycare.. and that daycare accepted him. Don't think our dc would if the dx is RSV! Hope your newphew won't get too ill from it, 1year is so young still for RSV

I skipped a friend's party this summer because of this and am glad because other kids who went caught it.

We put a tree up last weekend a d I bought a ton of cheap shatter proof ornaments for it. Even though we have a gate the kids still can get at some of the lower parts so we will have a lot key tree for a few years. I really don't mind as long as they have fun and my stress level is down.
My family started doing a secret santa about 8 years ago after one of my sisters had kids. It is so much nicer to just buy one present each and then kid gifts.
Also a confession. Most of my kids presents are used I got in a toy exchange through a mom's group. I just can drop a ton of money on toys they will loss interest in in a year. I feel a bit guilty...

I can’t imagine you’d need more than 3 presents for a 17 month old @starzia, so don’t feel bad. She’ll feel the excitement from you, more than the presents.
We haven’t even thought about gifts yet. I’ve sent some options for family members who want to get A stuff but that’s it. I refuse to stress about it until he actually knows what’s happening. Lol

Now that A is walking, my dog has been extremely jealous. He even ate As wooden kazoo that he loves. My dog hasn’t chewed up anything that wasn’t his since we adopted him 4 years ago.
It’s crazy cause he gets more attention now than when we were both working full time.

J last molar has popped through. Im glad because he refused to nap 3 days tyis week and i think that is why. We still have no tree.
Ive been syressing about gifts but looked in my present box today and rralized im done! I think we biught j too much so we may save some stuff for his birthday, especially since family will be getting him a lot as well.

We just did Christmas and Hanukkah this weekend with my parents visiting. We got him like three toys. 🤷🏻♀️ I don’t really think kids this age need lots of gifts. We got him a vacuum bc he is obsessed with the real one. And then a menorah that he can sort of play with, but that was half a toy half a “how do we get something to rival our three foot Xmas tree”, and a set of toy fruits and veggies, and a pack of puzzles. He has two molars working their way out. Well two that I can see. He never lets me look in there so it’s kind of a guessing game. pennylane I hope your foot is feeling better 🙁 We put up our fake Xmas tree but it is just the tree and lights. No ornaments. He did a good job of touching the tree but not pulling at it or knocking it over. So, that works for us.
