E took 3 independent steps today. She'll be 9 months on Xmas Eve. We are equal parts proud and terrified.

Baby’s age: 8 months today. I seriously forgot. Now I feel awful. 🤦♀️
Milestones and Appointments: Does our forth sick visit in 4 weeks count? Last week we made a quick decision to get him in due to breathing difficulty. Ends up he has croup and rsv. Fml. That sucked. My girls have had rsv, but they were older. He also has his 4th ear infection. Overall he’s a happy healthy dude, but this month is killing me.
Rants/Raves: He LOVES bathtime. I’m guilty of only bathing him once a week or so though and I feel bad every time I see how much enjoys it.
Favorite holiday food and why: I love all the cookies and appetizers. Fussy food people only cook occasionally. It’s delicious! We do fondue on Christmas Eve and I enjoy planning that each year.

alwayscheese thanks for the tag, I feel loved! I haven’t logged on here since probably April. Life is just so crazy! Baby’s age: 9 months on the 22nd Milestones and Appointments: Just army crawling over here! He occasionally decides to real crawl for a second but he’s content with doing things his own way. Rants/Raves: I have a pretty good baby! He has pretty much always been a good sleeper and rarely cries. I feel super grateful. Favorite holiday food and why: Allllll the sweets!

I honestly have the best of intentions when I say I'm going to post more, but this age and this time of year just feels so overwhelmingly busy. I miss staying in touch with all of you and keeping up with your adorable babies. I often hop on in the evening and read through posts, but I don't want to post without responding to everyone and it's hard to do that on mobile. I'll try to find a happy medium. Baby’s age: 8 months Milestones and Appointments: First ear infection - we're on day 4 of abx and they're wrecking his stomach, poor guy. We have a follow-up appt next week, the day before we fly to Ohio to visit family for almost two weeks. I hope he's feeling better by then! We're a little slow on other milestones (which is sending my mind in a tailspin with DS1's autism diagnosis). He's still not that interested in rolling over, he's not pushing up on all fours for that pre-cursor to crawling, and he's not pulling up. I hope this is just part of being in the 99th percentile for weight - he's just content to sit up, on those super chunky legs, and look around and play. Rants/Raves: My big rant it just what I said above - worry about milestones. I'll be glad to check in with our pediatrician at his 9-month checkup next month. My rave, though, is that he continues to be just SUCH a happy baby. He probably had this ear infection for a little while before I took him in, but I missed it because he's been so chipper in spite of it. It's a huge mental load off to know I can hand him to DH or a sitter, and he won't have a meltdown (DS1 only wanted mama, ALL the time). DS2's sweet and easy disposition has just been a huge blessing after how incredibly difficult a baby and toddler DS1 was/is. Side note DS2 rave: He's POTTY TRAINED!! We did it over Thanksgiving weekend and he took to it so easily. There's something to be said for waiting till they're ready (and then some, in our case, LOL). Favorite holiday food and why: My mom's clothespin cookies. There's so much sugar and Crisco involved, but they're so good and I can't wait to have them when we fly back next week.

katietopaz glad to see your update! If it makes you feel better, my 8 month old is not getting onto her chands and knees and is nowhere near pulling up. My 2 year old wasn't doing those things either at 8 months.

Whoops I thought I posted in this but guess not!
Baby’s age: 8 months
Milestones and Appointments: first “words” said with intent- but not consistently to call them words yet. Same as DS1. He says mama to me and says it desperately when I’m not in the room and says dada to MH and randomly when he’s gone too like “where’s my dad?” It’s funny because all his noises have really seemed to become communication attempts after this last leap. He does not crawl yet, just like his brother was, but he kind of rolls around the room to get things to put in his mouth. His hand to mouth coordination is lightning fast and 100% accurate which is nothing like what DS1 was like.
Rants/Raves: All the change we’ve had and the toddler had had have stalled finishing potty training for him. We’re very close and I’m very excited to move into our new house (early Jan hopefully) and get rid of pull ups for good- if I can get him to be happy about pooping in the toilet. He’s still scared/worried/stubborn about that. If the baby could sleep through the night that would be good too. I miss quiet time with my husband. Can’t do that here at MiL’s. Pretty much ever.
Favorite holiday food and why: It’s summer here for Christmas, so sour cream potato salad is my jam. And chocolate ripple cake (the worlds easiest Australian dessert to make).

It’s so great reading everyone’s updates and catching up. I am definitely trying to check in more. Also it’s hard to believe that on the other side of the holidays, we will start having first birthdays!!
Baby’s age: 9 months
Milestones and Appointments: his 9 month appointment is on the 12th. His unofficial stats at 8 months were 16.5 lbs and 28 inches. We are still in 3-6 month clothes here - my kid is teeny! Such the opposite of my first. We are cruising but not quite brave enough to take steps yet without the support.
Rants/Raves: we have been doing mostly great. L has been a bit clingy the past few weeks (actually, he’s usually fine until he spots me and then game over). But I am enjoying it because I’ve been busy with work and haven’t gotten a lot of time at home. He continues to otherwise be the happiest baby and he just makes our world so much better. I’m so excited to spend our first Christmas together as a family of four. And I must be crazy because I’m already thinking of trying for our third!
Favorite holiday food and why: homemade Chex mix (aunts recipe) and cookies (mom’s recipe).
Poof.

Baby’s age: 9 months Milestones and Appointments: He had his 9 months appointment last Monday. He is tall and a chunk. He was 22lbs, 4 ozs and 30”. He also had another ear infection that I did t know about. I think he has already been sick more than DS1 has ever been. He is crawling all over the place. He loves to eat and eats everything. He has pulled up to standing a couple times, but generally he just gets on his knees. He has crawled up a couple low steps. He says mama or mom a lot. I like to think that it has meaning but it probably doesn’t. Rants/Raves: He doesn’t sleep through the night often. His hair is crazy, but I won’t even consider cutting it until he is at least 1 year old. He gets the cutest curls in his hair after bathtime. It is hard getting DS1 to not play to rough with him. Favorite holiday food and why: Cookies. That is the only food that we consistently have every Christmas. One of his favorite toys is the hairbrush

katietopaz mintyblueair L isn't getting on to his hands/knees and will only stand if you hold him. He is making no attempts to do anything by himself. He will bum scoot a little (maybe 1 ft over an extended period of time). K was the same around this age and then one day decided to pull up and furniture surft and was walking well before 1. I don't think L will be the same because he doesn't like to use his legs much and K's favourite thing to do was bounce (in your arms or his jumperoo). I wouldn't worry about a non-mover yet.

nevertoomanyshoes tell me about the chocolate ripple cake. I need to make a dessert for a family birthday party on Saturday. It’s the best. But you need a specific type of chocolate biscuit. Like something that would go soft in milk. Hold please, I’ll find pics.

We call it "the log" haha So good though! DS likes to help me make it aka lick the whipped cream spoon at the end and the left over chocolate cookies. Sometimes I get fancy with the “garnish”. I’ve had it before where you dip the cookie in baileys or kahlua before you put the cream on and join to the other cookies and my god yum!

My mom swore I walked that early and I thought she was full of shit, then my kid did it. This made me laugh. My friend's daughter started walking at 9 months and was still as shiny bald as she was the day she was born...you kind of had to blink when you looked at her because it didn't look real.

This is my 4th attempt at posting. Oh tapatalk, I have not missed you. Baby’s age: 8 months Milestones and Appointments: Ryan is sitting, standing, crawling, pulls himself up, and clapping. He has 2 teeth and 2 more coming. He is doing well with BLW too. He was recently diagnosed with Chronic Benign Neutropenia just like what my DD2 has. Lots of appointments and blood draws. We've been down this road before, so it's not quite as scary but I'm still super anxious. Cold and flu season makes me especially nervous. Rants/Raves: Ryan still wakes every 1-2 hours at night. I'm so tired! Favorite holiday food and why: Give me all the food. 😁 Hi! I'm sorry I've been MIA. Life has just been crazy, busy. I think of you all and miss posting here. Can't believe how fast this year has gone and how close our babies are to being 1. I'm not ready! 😭 I hope after the holidays are done, life will allow down and I can start to post more often. Love reading all the updates. ❤
