Since there are 35 views and no responses, I'll respond! L is doing well. Compared to her brother at this age she's a peanut. Her weight and height are only in the 71st and 81st percentiles respectively while her brother was at 98th and up from birth. She loves to sit, still hates being on her belly, and is randomly pulling to stand. We're randomly doing food stuff and still EBF aside from that for now. I've told my mom (daycare) to start giving her a bottle of formula during the day too because she's still hungry. I think I'm about half done Christmas shopping? L is getting small stuff. Her brother is getting a bouncy ball pit and I'm excited for that! Blurry pigtail pic!

L is doing well motorically. He can crawl in small spurts, pulls himself to standing, and even cruises a step or two. He seems on the verge of cutting a tooth, but H reminds me that I’ve said that for about four months now, so who knows when this thing will actually come out. Otherwise, L has had two allergic reactions to food so far. One with peanut butter, and one we couldn’t trace the source to. He also has an intolerance to a lot of the solids that we’ve tried, so at this point we are only giving him mum mums and banana. Since I’m nursing, I am also constantly stressed about what I am eating. We go to the allergist next Thursday to hopefully pinpoint the foods that he’s allergic to, and then we can make a new plan from there. I started and finished my shopping yesterday! I still have some homemade ornaments that I need to make with the boys, but otherwise it’s just waiting for stuff to get shipped to my house, and then wrapping. And now pics:

F has had teeth RIGHT THERE for over a month now lol. I've been introducing solids for a couple of weeks but he doesn't seem to be interested in eating more than a few bites of anything. I'm guessing he's just testing the different tastes and textures more than anything. He's such a little guy, really. He's just moved up from the 2nd to the 3rd percentile lol. He's like 2 lbs below "average", but he's happy and growing, just on his own schedule. He's recently discovered that he enjoys tummy time, at least for a few minutes, because he can see his toys better, and he's really close to getting his knees under him. He's sitting on his own for a minute or 2 before he falls, but he's so much better than last month. We're going to Florida for Christmas so I'm buying a lot of our presents when we get down there. Lord help me. We're leaving in about a week and a half, and we're going to have to drive to another city to pick up Fs passport because they needed a new picture and then it took forever to get there. Ugh, don't get me started on the Canada post thing... Anyways, we got some family pictures done a few weeks ago and they're sooo adorable. I can't believe he's going to be 6 months already!

My F is good! She’ll be 6 months on the 11th. We’ve had the most insane fall so she’s just been dragged along for the ride. Luckily she’s so easy going and will just roll with it. Her 6 month appointment will be a week and a half late because we switched insurance so that’s a little annoying. I want her flu shot done! She’s a peanut but has been hanging steady so 🤷🏼♀️ I guess she finally dropped down into her curve at 5 months. She constantly rolls back to front, then wiggles herself to toys and things, and then eventually loses her shit. She sits for 10-20 seconds or so at a time and freaking loves her jumpers. We haven’t started solids because aforementioned crazy fall. But that’s the plan for next week. I already have baby food in the freezer for her that I’ve been making when I cook veggies for DD1. Still no teeth, which shocks me since DD1 had 2 at 4 months. I’ve been decreasing her nighttime ounces and increasing the daytime feeds and she’s STTN a few nights this week so yay. Pictures!

J will be 6 months on Friday. He can sit for about a minute or two, then he reaches for something and overbalances most of the time. Just started consistently rolling back to belly. So much laughing & babbling! He’s obsessed with his brother & has a newfound interest in petting our dog. We started BLW and he’s getting the hang of it quickly. His favorites have been meat and zucchini. Starting to do the distracted nursing thing. I can’t stand that phase. Oh well. He STTN about 85% of the time. Mostly depends on how congested his nose is; we keep trading colds back & forth in my family.

Hi! E is 7 months and some change. She had a weight check a week ago and was 13lbs 8oz...tiny little thing. We have been doing solids since she turned 6 months. I’m doing a mixture of BLW and purées. She much prefers to feed herself which is good. But she sometimes doesn’t actually ingest anything BLW style. She is still waking at night 1-2x to eat and I can’t figure out how to get more calories in her during the day bc she just won’t take much more than her 4-4.5oz bottles. Sometimes only 3oz. She sits pretty much independently but she still can topple so I still put a boppy behind her. She doesn’t roll back to belly yet. We are working on that. And now pics!

So we went to the allergist today and L is allergic to eggs, milk and peanuts. None of those are super surprising based on symptoms and observations over the past 7 months, but it’s going to be an adjustment. I’m already dairy and peanut free, so now I need to eliminate eggs too. It sucks and will really cut down on what I can eat, but I’d prefer to keep breastfeeding at this point. L will have to avoid those foods until next November, when we’ll retest skin and blood to see if he starts to grow out of the allergies.
I’m just glad at this point to have some answers and an action plan, especially for when he is at daycare and with other family. We’ll take the rest as it comes.

Hi! We just tried our first food, green beans it did not go over well. We are going to go to rice cereal for a while. She know how to get to where she wants to go without crawling. She had the stomach flu a few weeks ago which caused her to wake up frequently. She just started sleeping better last night. We flew to go to MN for thanksgiving both kids did pretty great on the plane. I got a high five on the way out of one of them from another passenger.

You're a tough lady for sticking it out to keep nursing! Full disclosure, it is partly for selfish reasons. I know that it’ll force me to eat more whole foods and help my weight-loss efforts. It’s also economical because I’m not sure that we can afford specialized formula, even if insurance helps us out. But I definitely have to live it for a little bit to see how it goes and may end up changing my mind.

budders what kind of testing did they do? He did skin testing in the office. The wheals were 2-4x the size of what he considered a borderline/potential false positive, so even though infants can be tricky, we were given a concrete diagnosis for all 3. We do still have to do blood work for the IgE readings, but those at this point are just to track the sensitivity over time.

I went dairy free and it turned out that DS2 is allergic to eggs so I’ve cut that out as well. It’s not too hard once you get into a routine of eating the same thing. DS1 is allergic to all nuts and legumes. Not much else left to eat around here ha ha

DS2 started daycare so we are on a cycle of alternating weeks of being sick/not sick. He has 2 bottom teeth that have poked through and it’s been a fountain of drool. This is my favorite age! I can’t believe how fast time is flying.
Where did everyone go?

The biggest struggle for me is that I am doing weight watchers and my breakfast of hardboiled eggs and a banana was 0 points. Now I'm at 6-10 points with oatmeals, cereal with almond milk or breads with almond butter. FWP for sure, but a bummer. The hardest part though, and the thing that I'm still crying over, is not being able to use my frozen breastmilk anymore. I think we may also have a pea protein allergy based on some vegan products I ate at Christmas, so I'm keeping an eye on that.

F had his first ever cold over Christmas and he was miserable. Slept most of the time, and when he wasn't sleeping he was whiny, clingy, or screaming. So not himself. I'm really glad I'm with my folks right now and they helped us through it. Today is the first day that he's feeling better and he's going nuts in his exersaucer. Yesterday we met up with some friends of mine from high school and one of the girls brought her 5 month old and F was amazed. The poor little guy was teething and grumpy and F was trying to help make him feel better. He was laughing and jabbering away. It was the first time he's seen another baby his age and it made me think that we need to find some other babies to visit with.

Agreed...losing hard boiled eggs definitely makes it hard when eating a balanced diet. I make overnight oats now with coconut milk and mix in a protein powder designed for new moms called Protiva. Sorry about the frozen milk! That’s so frustrating!
