My boss asked my teaching partner and I if it would be ok for her and the district superintendent to come visit our classrooms tomorrow. She’s having her quarterly evaluation. She wants us to “make it good” and it will be “worth our time and effort” — usually that means she lets us wear jeans and leave work early. I don’t mind the direct honesty about her visit and things like this work in my favor for observations and evaluations of me later too. I
* least it sound like we’re slacker teachers... It’s bit that were not good teachers all the time - we just don’t stay after school for 3 additional hours like we did tonight preparing our classrooms for a single lesson the next day. 😂

ILs made it here for their first visit!! So far it has been a great day. We have been eating lots of local food, and they really have enjoyed trying all of it. DS1 was so excited to wake up and see his grandparents here! LO is more shy, but he’s been in a bit of a “only mommy/stranger danger mood lately.” I think they understand. Besides, DS1 is loving the attention and taking up most of their time. Looking forward to the next 6 days - hope we can packin’ as much fun with them as possible.

CoachTsWife I am sorry you're going through a nursing bump. Sounds like it could be teething related. This happened about a month ago, lil fella would nurse for like 2-3 minutes only and I thought we were done but like danvers we just kept with the routine and I kept offering and he's now back to normal. Big Hugs. I never thought I would like nursing despite all the setbacks with clogs and mastitis but the bond is certainly special.

Taitai so happy for your family. The kids must be psyched to see their grand parents. curmudgeon I lurve mint anything! Gimme all the minty stuff this time of year! I'll be mixing up some of my peppermint pixies this week. About the ornaments, yes...they every year they give a set to us. It's a collectible from their favorite wildlife artist. Thank god...there is no more production. I've been racking my brain to figure out how to hang them. I have a few more ideas which we'll implement the next few years or it'll be a shame for them to just sit in the box. Eventhough it's NMS hanging ornaments doodlemommy those cookies sound sooo amazing! The nussecken sound delicious! I love leckerlis but making the candied peels take time. I started my baking list and will start mixing dough this week. With the 2 kiddos now, I'll have to drastically scale down what I usually make until they are a little older.

We had such a busy weekend. We got to go see Reindeers on Sunday and I actually got a little shopping done too for my nieces and nephews and DS' teachers. They're all working and in college so we usually give them money in a "red envelope" a little nod to my custom plus I usually get them a small gift. It's hard to drag stuff plus we have more stuff with the kids now. I also wasted a good chunk of yesterday trying to register DS for kindergarten and the online system kept on giving me errors. It was so frustrating and I finally got through to an admin in the district and they said they were having system wide tech issues. Awesome! Anyways it got sorted out and I have to get some docs and registration fee over to the school tomorrow. How is my baby already going to kindergarten! Waaahhh! I've also been trying to decide what cookies to bake this christmas - I am trying to cut the list but it still seems too long. Meh.

Also even aerobars or galaxy or maybe flake bars? I know there is a mint aerobar which I’m obsessed with but can’t get here and possibly galaxy too. If you can get a hold of peppermint oil...it packs a punch over extract.

I don’t know if it’s teething or what but DS has refused to eat supper for 3 nights in a row. Like refuses to put a single bite in his mouth. Last night I got him to eat a pouch 15 minutes later, tonight nothing. He usually eats a lot and is not picky so this is totally throwing me off! He is still eating ok at breakfast and lunch, no fever, lots of drooling but no swollen gums or obvious teeth coming in. All he wanted to do tonight was nurse and then he was falling asleep so I just put him to bed early

LO is still refusing to nurse. We read books in our bedroom and I sang songs and tried to offer when he got drowsy but he turned away and fussed. Then I tried to get him to do a dream feed after he fell asleep but that was unsuccessful. Everything I read says to hang in there, but it is so hard. He's very clingy to me, otherwise, which makes me feel better in a way.
And DH is gone from tomorrow morning until Saturday afternoon. Ugh.

CoachTsWife oh man - hang in there! I’m sorry to hear your H is heading away for a bit too. Solo parenting is so hard. I hope your LO comes around - I know how emotional it can be duskymonkey Thank you for the after eights and galaxy suggestions! I think I’ve seen those at the western grocery store, so I’m going to go look for them this weekend. Today, we made our third batch of cutout cookies for the season. DH is brining them to DS1’s class tomorrow with some bowls of frosting, and the kids will decorate the cookies as a fun activity. DH will also read a Christmas book to the class. It’s a surprise, so DS1 is probably going to be extremely excited 😊

Thanks Taitai. He latched this morning and immediately bit me. I did not react and he let go and cried. I really wish I knew how to help him. He's generally more fussy and wants to be held a lot (but also squirms out of my arms then cries when I set him down). Something is def going on and I'm wracking my brain to try to figure it out. I really do think his teeth are hurting. I dosed him with Motrin after supper Tuesday night to see if he'd be more open to nursing but he wasn't. Sorry to clog up the board about this. My husband is understanding and is being supportive, but, you know, he doesn't fully get how I'm feeling.

O17 I need NBR help
H's office does a SS exchange at work but hes been there for all of 4 months and doesn't know what to get people. The memo said its "white elephant" but I don't think it means what *I* think white elephant is.
Anyway, we dont know what to get. So I'm hoping yall have some suggestions. Under $20, professional type gifts (like no sex joke toys, alcohol ect). Help?

cythe, a white elephant Secret Santa exchange? IDK what that means. I thought Secret Santa was draw names and buy a gift for who you drew. Isn't white elephant the game where you buy a gift anyone might like, draw numbers, open gifts in order, and you can steal gifts based on rules, etc. Anyway, we do a white elephant gift exchange game and I was so glad I was on maternity leave and missed last year's. I hate stuff like this. A couple years ago someone in my other BMB suggested lottery tickets as her go-to gift for these things. I liked that idea and that was my gift that year. No one seemed excited about it and it was def not stolen in the gift game. I'm trying to remember what gifts were popular.... A set of wine glasses. Gift cards. Superhero "things" (I work with software engineers). Fun/funny coffee mugs. Christmas candy/chocolates/etc. Board games. Generic tech things like portable bluetooth speaker. IDK if any of this is helpful. My office Christmas party/exchange is next Thursday and I DNW to go.

CoachTsWife yes, it seems like they have their own thing going on with this exchange! It's called white elephant (which to me is a gag gift exchange) but they draw numbers and then pick a gift based on that number. But there is no stealing - I specifically asked him about this earlier. Whatever US Navy. I bounced some ideas off H earlier and he literally sat there and told me he didnt care. Thanks for the input H...

CoachTsWife that’s what we’re here for so don’t think twice about it. Hang tough. It’s hard. I forgot to add too that when this was happening a month ago, I thought for sure we were done and was sad cos I had clogs due to lil fella biting but I kept pumping eventhough I got half of what I used to get and after everything healed, supply was back to normal and lil fella was back to normal too. I also seem to notice that my supply would sorta tank when I’m approaching ovulation? 🤷🏻♀️ We’re also still using a level 2 nipple on his bottle he gets at night. Is he still drinking from a bottle or sippy? It could be that he’s impatient and don’t want to wait for a let down? Big hugs... we’re here for you.

Thanks dusky. ❤ I was getting ready to transition from bottles at daycare to cups, but have delayed due to this. We're using level 1 nipples. I tried expressing milk to get him to taste it/encourage him, but that also failed.

cythe, we did this for our immediate team at an old job - there were 9 of us - and it was a similar thing with CoachTsWife where they drew numbers and first gets to pick and 2nd decides to steal or pick. I had only joined the company so didn't know the guys well ( I happened to be the only girl ) so I got one of those giant cheeseballs tub and a Target gift card-the cheeseball tub made the present rather big lol!. The dude was pleased with both, he got himself a PS game and shared his cheeseballs with everyone. Food items like hot chocolate and chocolate bars which they usually have special for the holidays are safe bets too. I would totally steal lottery tickets! rather than a stupid mug but I am weird.

Taitai that's so fun and generous of you all to bring in cookies for the kids at school. DS' school doesn't allow outside food or I would love to do that for DS' class. They did decorate a gingerbread house yesterday but they can't eat it. Speaking of which, I like to make a gingerbread house eventually for the kids to decorate when lil fella is a little older - like 3 maybe? do you guys get the gingerbread house kits? if you do, do you eat it after decorating? This could be a good option in the interim until I have more time as the boys get older. I just mixed a couple batches of vanilla and chocolate sugar cookie dough and a double batch of my peppermint pixies - chocolate crinkles, i just like calling them peppermint pixies . I think I was a little heavy handed with the peppermint oil now the house smells pepperminty. Oops! I may have to mix another batch so DS can eat some too. I am also chuffed that all the nuts are going on special at the grocers tomorrow so I can load up on the pecans and almonds for more cookie dough next week! Tonight hubs and I are going to decorate our tree and watch Christmas vacation! so excited. We're also thinking of taking DS out for sushi tomorrow after school. I love the holidays.

Guys I promise I read here but I usually catch up when rocking DD2 and sometimes I just rest my eyes for a minute and then 😴
I can’t decide how I want to do Christmas cards but however I decide I need to do it fast if I want them out by Christmas. We didn’t get formal pictures of the girls like I wanted because someone always seems sick (and DD2 is all mommy all the time right now) but I love photo cards so looking for my best iPhone pics to put together that best represent the girls and our year. I just need to stay awake longer than 7:30pm to do it (see point 1 😂)
